Usual customers: "Let's try it out on paper sheets on any kind first"
Dillon: " well Let's try directly on sneakers "
No fear for the kind of customs ahah
lol!
😆😆 basically he's like "it is what it is 🤷🏻♂️"
What’s up, I’ve been airbrushing for 30 years and I saw one of these and I had to pick one up. When I first tried it, it was sputtering and spitting until I found the secret. The needle and nozzle it comes with is too thin to spray with. So I got a 0.5 needle and nozzle, after that it works like butter. BIG difference. It will never replace my Iwatas or my compressor but it’s good to do quick sketches and to take on the go. Good video by the way.👍🏽
Oh nice man! That’s good to hear
Thanks for that tip. I didn't know what was going on with mine, but this may help 😊
Where do you find the 0.5 at?
What mine did with primer & thought I needed bigger needle
Thanks for your input. I will try it.
This is a cool video. I’m a miniature painter. So it is really interesting to see what other people use airbrushes for, and the tolerances they expect to be normal for airbrush usage. It would NEVER have occurred to me to try and use one of these portable brushes to paint a pair of sneakers. I mean, come on! It’s running at about 18PSI max. But for painting minis, at close to midnight, when you’re able to grab two hours of hobby time, while everyone else is asleep.... these devices are so quiet, so unobtrusive that family might believe that you’re actually doing something productive - like a bit of banking or investing. Honestly, this gear is far from perfect, but it has it’s place. It’s weak, but quiet, so you can be super sneaky and get stuff done and no-one is the wiser.
I used it for barbering
This airbrush isn't designed to cover massive areas. It is built to be an affordable option for those that airbrush fingernails, mini's, and small items.
Additionally they don't have the same size needle. There is a huge difference between an airbrush with a .5 needle which the badger has, and a .3 needle. Of course there will be less volume of painted sprayed when the needle is smaller. In this case you would be getting about 1/3 the volume, which I think is reflected in your testing.
Agree on all fronts. I just think there will be a lot of temptation for shore artist starting out to get something this small
I started with this cordless airbrush version. It was painful to work with it. The nozzle broke off (when I tried to switch it carfefully), after 5 weeks and the compressor died in week 7. It took ages to clean the airbrush. It took years to build up layers, no matter how thin the paint was. Imagine working with a clogged airbrush, because that is how it felt all the time. If you buy cheap, you will buy twice! My Harder & Steenbeck Evolution really showed me, what airbrushing should be like lol.
If you buy cheap, you will buy twice is the perfect summary for this airbrush lol
I can agree that it lacks airflow. It does work well for cake decorating and nails. It is a pain to clean.
I actually bought one of these to use on my very first pair of customs I finished last week! I've never used an airbrush before yet I could tell the airflow and adjustment weren't right - but I was still able to get my gradient done decently! This video has just encouraged me to consider going for the real thing tho...
Haha if you were able to get it done with this, youre in for a treat with a real setup! Gunna love it
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear awesome 🙏🏾 - maybe my stencil work would have been better with the real set-up!
It's probably a good thing that it's not as powerful, especially for beginners. The gentle mist forces you to take your time.
@@DeJesusCustomFootwearjust bought it being cheap it’s ok shoes turned out ok but 30mins don’t like will be sending back
Please tell me you saved this pair afterward.. 🤞😅
Haha I did!
Hi DeJesus, I'm hoping to airbrush my Padel Tennis racket, which Portable Airbrush Spray USB Compressor do you recommend? Also, do you have a preferred paint? Thanks
I don’t recommend any of the portable airbrushes unfortuantely. If you watch this video when I compare it to the badger patriot 105, there’s not much comparison. I would use angelus paints
I bought one of these cordless airbrushes and was underwhelmed by it. Im used to a regular badger airbrush so my first impression of the cordless one is a lack of airpower. I decided to see if it's just me or is it the product and your video convinced me it's the product. I'm going to return mine and stick with my badger.
Yup I’m there with ya, once you know what it should and can flow like it…. It’s hard to accept this big of a drop off
Thank you Jesus please bless and protect this man
Bit much. If you love him so much just marry him.
@@peterdickinson4599 chill bro 😅
I think for new airbrush artists, it may deter them from airbrushing if thats the 1st one they use...im glad i jumped into the badger 105 right away like you suggested man. I think if i woulda got this one 1st, id probably stick to brushes tbh...as always, very helpful brother 🙏🙏
Couldnt have said it better myself and I hope thats the main message that comes across at the end of the day.
Same here, I was a complete beginner and never touched an airbrush in my life, rarely used paint brushes. I just nose dived into customs and I have been doing great so far, Dillon's vids are super helpful!

@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thank you 🙌🏾
This item does seem like it has potential but I guess the technology just isn't quite there yet I mean it is convenient to be able to have one of these on your travels instead of having these huge compressors to take everywhere you go but until they can rival the compressors then they need to get back on the drawing board and figure that part out otherwise I don't see any use for it at this point at least for this brand that you bought maybe the quality ones might have actually giving you the same or a rivals that of a compressor.
Agree! If it this worked as well as intended it would be great for travel!
Can you push the power button to make it go up in how fast the air comes out? My air pump has that option i pushed the power button 3 times before turning it off.
Not on this one unfortunately
Dillon, where can I get the stencils you use? The selections I see at Michaels and Hobby Lobby aren't meant for shoes really. Help me out friend. FYI, you da shit.
Thanks man! We have em all right here

@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Thanks bud! Btw, I got one of those portable airbrushes and you're right about their uses. Good for gradients color to color and also, you gotta be up on your shoe area because it lacks the proper flow of fluid, air flow I think is good, just for some reason, the volume of paint flow just isn't there.
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Dillon, this is a fabulous selection of stencils! Prices are steep but I know that it's well worth it. Thanks
could you use an oil based polyurethane with this product?
I think it lacks the power ..
How did you fade the black into the darker blue? Did you get a darker blue paint or did you mix the two colors in some way? Sorry I’m new to this
Also what should I do to really get started? I bought a AF1 but I’m afraid to start it. Should I practice on paper or knock of AF1’s until I get a nice idea of the airbrush I’m using.
You can definitely get started practicing on paper, cardboard, anything like that just get a feel for your airbrush. What we use to make the smooth gradient is called the middle bar technique where you take an even mixture of both of your colors and spray that where they meet.. In a way its like creating a 3rd color and adding that in, but what you do after is take both of the original colors and blend those back on top of the new middle bar color you created. We give a breakdown in this video here (ruclips.net/video/SKubheHrF5k/видео.html)
i bought 2 and they both stop charging after a month of use
I believe it, unfortunately
Got this as a gift recently from my girlfriend. First time using an airbrush and have gotten some Mr.hobby metallics to spray, but can't get anything else to spray no matter how much thinner I add. I am spraying using acrylics and have tried several paints from Mr.Hobby Aqueous, Tamiya metallics, and citadel base colors. The airbrush sprays thinner and water just fine, as well as airbrush cleaner. But I am wondering how I can get some colors to spray. If anyone has any tips please let me know.
Just an idea, but if it sprays water and thinner fine, have you tried making the paint mix as equally thin …or as close to the viscosity as water/thinner? Then when spraying maybe heat up the surface with a blow dryer or something and then paint the layers on in thin mist layers?
Got the cordless for Christmas and I felt like it was so much harder than other systems. I’m a beginner, but man it’s seriously a headache. Wish I would’ve spent $100 more for a nicer set up. #brokecollegestudent
AAaawww...then you bought yourself a present. But it's cool. We get it.
Where to get new nozzles and caps.
Not sure on that one unfortunately
Crazy, I was just looking for a video like this yesterday lol
Haha great timing! Thanks for watching.
Hi im new to customize and would like to know what are the different types of paint that can be used to customize shoes other than angelus
Just got one off ebay for $17. Trying to spray thinned resolene. hard to tell how much is coming out with that sealant.
Actually the only thing you are complaining about is the pressure of the airbrush, which is around 15-20 PSI. To scale modelers, this kind of air pressure is preferable to do basic works, with small coverage. For shoes I think it must be around 30 PSI to cover up such large surface.
Yup 30 is right around where I keep my airbrush typically.. I can certainly see it working for some smaller scale models
5:50 HUGE difference, definitely not getting a cordless airbrush lol - great review!
Thanks for watching! That comparison was a pretty late addition but I think its really helps show that difference.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. It just goes to prove, cheaper is not always better. Thanks again!
Well... If its a shoe... Then u need more powerful spray.....
That cordless spray migh suitable for Warhammer thingy....
I bought one of these before and its on the shelf exactly like you said 😂
Thank you for this bro. I was actually considering getting something like this I’m glad I went here first
How you manage clogs in that?
Would not be fun figuring it out lol. I haven’t used it at all since the comparison
i actually almost bought a cordless airbrush when i wanted to start airbrushing thank god i didn't!!
Yes I think youll have a better experience long term starting off with something better.
Well i tried to read at least 20 comments below, but my tickling ulcers are coming back. Folks are sho' funny.
One question was, I wondered if we could operate the cordless compressor all day long with the USB Cable attached to a Wall "Brick"?
When I'm doodling in my sketchbooks, many times I like to add a hint of color, with Watercolors, to suggest a mood or Costume Idea. Pretty sure I can push that thinner paint thru this cool portable Air Gun.
I'm wondering why that the one that I got that's something like that and why does it spray by itself
Maybe the needle isn’t locked all the way forward?
Ok
One of the reviews on Temu said it happens because the airflow control button was assembled in the wrong direction, I hope you understand what I mean, try to disassemble the airbrush itself and turn the trigger 180 degrees and see if it fixed your problem.
@@E_y_a_l ok but I found out I had to push the needle almost all of the way in so now it doesn't spray by itself anymore
Who's working with Yeezy's like the foam runner, knit runner or 450?
I don't wanna waste my money if the material doesn't take...
so it takes 10 times longer, battery only lasts for half an hour AND it takes 2 hours (that seems optimistic to say the least) to charge the battery. why the FUCK didnt they just use double As??? if it used AAs than it wouldnt matter nearly as much that the battery only lasts half an hour and it takes 10 times as long
it lacks power and control give it a proper compressor and some control and it would be perfect i would not mind paying $199 but for something that is exactly the same as a wired airbrush but cordless
the shirt he is wearing at the beginning of the video would make a clean custom also is it worth paying the 300$ on angelus
It would! Make sure you use our discount code to help you save a bit (dejesus321) but sounds like you bout to go crazy!
something told me to go HAM on the the airbrush right from the start so i waited, saved, and apparently it paid off - my 1st airbrush was the "Iwata HP-C Plus" i love it ofc. i'll be snagging that 0.5 badger very soon tho so i can stop thinning paint.
Wait you don’t have to thin paint with the badger airbrush?
@@lanehouston2974 it may depend on the paint, but with Angelus brand acrylics any 0.5 mm airbrushes won’t require thinning 🤙🏽
Hey dejesus I asked you about a week ago if you would consider using solarcolor dust. You said you just need to find the right project. What about color changing floral? That's a project I'm gonna try to do I'd love to see your take on that.
Yes thatd be doope!
Woke up thinking on a portable compressor, I still think I like that little underpowered thing! I think it could work well connected to a micron.
Great review man
How do you thin out the paint
Angelus makes a product called 2thin
I like my Sil-air compresor and Harder & Steenbeck Evo❤
Thats horrible you saved alot of people money lol
😂
50$ in your country. Half the price in mine
junk. After one use, mine went to shambles
That's for light makeup or cake decorating
Third comment @babyburnscustoms_ 🤑
Now that’s a fucking review I appreciate you for literally explaining everything
Haha thank you!
My airbrush is $37 and it’s horrible I can’t thin the paint right or anything
Great review, thanks for sharing it. I love my Iwata working at 22 PSI though!
great stuff man! I was about buying this, but glad i didn't

this is for modelisms not for these type of applications
I bought that airbrush to start. It worked for a few shoes but I had to retire it quickly

The cheap one looked so frustrating
Thanks, your Great!

I bought this exact airbrush when I was first starting off and it stopped working on the second day...
Lol I believe it
Errmm i kind have brought this lol

You can get this for about $25 now.
I hate reviews like this. You did a comparison and not an objective review. From what I saw, it did work. You should focus on what the product is, what it does and not compare it to other experiences or products you have. You should have had someone with no experience use it and give testimony.
Sure, I can’t deny that after working with an airbrush everyday for years I can’t help but think of my past experiences.. however the advtange to reviews like this is I know what a good working airbrush should feel like.. even if what you saw was a working airbrush it’s undoubtedly nowhere near what an airbrush should work and feel like.. this can save people from something that will 100% down the line not function correctly and lead you to feeling discouraged with airbrushing.. something that can happen even if you have a good working airbrush and just aren’t familiar with how to use it properly.
Where as in your case you won’t someone whose never tasted pizza before to try something like little Caesar’s and tell you it’s absolutely amazing. They have no basis for comparison, just cause it tasted great to them there that doesn’t make it great pizza
6:00 you completely missed the point. this isnt for someone who doesnt want to spend as much. it for someone who doesnt have access to an outlet.
6:34 holy fuck you missed the point AGAIN.
Except you're wrong on both points, WAY WAY WAY more people who would purchase something like this are purchasing for the sake of it being the cheapest option on the market.
They’re way more worried about diving head first into the world of airbrushing and would rather take a $50 gamble on this than a $175 gamble on an airbrush/compressor set.
Not just because they dont have acess to an outlet, that's silly.
Thanx bro u saved alot of artists with this video may God bless you
i like the toothpick at the end
What about painting very small things like Hotwheels?
I would say depends what type of paints you’re using, if they’re super thing maybe.. but overall there’s a still a lack of pressure issue
would this be good for small projects on sneakers like minor colour panel changes?
I still just think it doesn’t have enough power overall especially considering it’s not a tenth of the price of a good setup
Put your compressor on that cheap airbrush and make it a fair fight, it’s the sucky air supply that’s the issue here
The intention isn’t really making it a fair fight. It’s more to show if you can get by just using this entire setup for $50 vs an airbrush and real compressor that would be around $150.
How bought and price
Hi. What paint should you use when making use of a airbrush?
Really depends what you’re painting. If you’re reffering to what I use on shoes, that would be Angelus paints!
Was that cordless a Kibee?
wonder if you can use your own airbrushes with the correct adaptor to the aircan
Yes I belive so
Would this be good to buy as a portable airbrush when you’re working in an outdoor space?
I just don’t think it’s powerful enough to actually have a good time using!
Bong hits for Jesus🍥
Can anyone help with a recommendation? I want to get a airbrush setup but no clue where to start..
I’d go with the badger patriot 105!

Yeah these videos are the best! Testing multiple items is time consuming and not everyone wants to go through the hassle.
you always got what I need to know👏
Do you ask for a payment upfront before you even start painting the shoes ?

@@DeJesusCustomFootwear yes thank you i can watch them all lol
why is nobody showing how thick or thin lines you can do with this
or if you can change the thickness at all
That’s just a matter of how close you are to your subject. But due to its limited power supply you can only do so much
As an Airbrush newb, the self contained airbrush system you've being demonstrating has me now wondering if setting aside rattle cans that have served me well over the years in painting models in favour of this type of thing that requires a fair bit of learning to master has been such a crash hot idea.
I'll see how it goes, but I've a feeling that if current practice is serving you well, why change for a journey into the unknown?
The immediate advantage to me is that using an airbrush allows for almost endless colour variations. No bad thing as it happens but, necessary, or ideal, even, who knows?
The attraction here of course was the self contained powering of the airbrush and so avoiding the purchasing of an air compressor.
The airbrush and its can of electrical energy will arrive here sometime next week, I bought local rather than from overseas. This allows for less troubles if something goes wrong and the tool needs to be returned for repair or replacement.
I'm not so sure that this self contained airbrush is actually not much more than a gimmick, but time will tell.
Model building teaches patience, so this may need to be drawn upon before two moons have come and gone.
Old post, but what kind of models do you build? I do mostly military, but have had a hankering to build some cars and trucks, maybe vehicles I've actually owned, plus some fantasy vehicles (Ferrari, Lotus, etc). I've owned 4x4's, a '68 El Camino, SPL311, MG's, etc. I think I'll get one of these for interiors, cockpits, etc. The spray cans obviously don't allow good control of the paint application, especially thickness which can kill details, like panel lines, door jams, and such.
too late i brought one....lol
could i use something like this for restorations
Overall I can’t honestly recommend it
Hey DeJesus, I have been doing customs for a little over a week now and my customs are coming out great! one problem I have though, is that when I put my Satin Acrylic Finisher on it seems to make my paint that I am applying the finisher to start to come of and kind of leak off onto my white areas, and I don't apply the finisher with a brush, I use the air brush for everything. Tell me what I'm doing wrong! Please help!
Very odd, is the paint Forsure dry before applying the finisher? Otherwise it just sorta sounds like the paint might not be bonding properly so it could need some more prep work
So I am customizing shoes and when I paint the bottom and put a sealer I don't remember what brand it comes can you tell me the steps to painting shoe and for the paint not to chip
Actually I'll try this portable air brush until I get electricity where I lives, that will work until I can step up my game, you understand, but I'll also try and get better soon as possible... You're the best 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯...
Scrap metal in disguise.. 🤣
LOL!
Do you know if you can connect the $50 model to a compressor?
Potentially if you were able to find the right attachments.. at that point though it’s absolutely worth to just upgrade to the badger though
Good Video! How do you clean the Cordless Airbrush?
Thanks! I just cleaned it the same way I did a standard one. Ran cleaner through it, spray excess in a cleaning pot, leave cleaner between sessions
Ok well here's a question, I don't want to customize my nikes n jordans, but I'd like to be able to tape them off and repaint the white plastic mesh on the white tech 4s, everything's pristine white except some of the netting and I can't do that. So would this be sufficient for simple stuff as such. Get at me. Personally I was looking at the airbrush from, No Name brand. actually what it's called, seems to have decent reviews
