Perfect! Ty. It’s unreal how many people can’t just lay this out really simply like this.

A simple method uses a 5inch piece of fabric instead of 6", then hold and stretch as shown on this video. Next if fabric stretches to 6", (6-5=1") and that =20% stretch, if fabric stretches to 7"=40%, stretch, if stretches to 8"=60% stretch, 9"=80%stretch, and 10"=100%. stretch. It works out that each 1/2 inch that the fabric stretches equals 10%,stretch and 1/4" = 5%stretch. So 1 1/2" of stretch would be 30% of stretch and so on. Much simpler to me and perhaps others. (Yes. there was math involved originally, but for those just interested in the amount of stretch of the fabric, this method is easy and you don't have to calculate to figure it out. I made myself a chart and keep it with my stretch required patterns. Easy! Sorry, I do not remember which site I saw this on, so can't give credit where due.

Fantastic! I sew and also teach math... this is also a great real-life application to teach how to calculate "percent of" something. Thanks!

How much can we take out from our pattern after knowing the stretch percentage?

Patterns are drafted with specific stretch percentages in mind. You’d need to calculate a fabric’s stretch percentage to know if it’ll work well for a particular pattern. If you’re curious about ease, check of this video: ruclips.net/video/HL0H1kaLahE/видео.html
