I visited for the first time and I am impressed with your very calm and sweet expressions to show how to work with stretchy material, giving lot more confidence for the beginners. I am working on a dress material that is very flexible and I am stuck at the point how to hem the slight curved bottom par tof the top. I will make sure what looks nice as a finishing hem line before I apply on the actual top that I am about to finish. Thanks for your wonderful tips. I subscribed to your channel.
Thank you for making this video I learned a lot. I have a sewing machine foot with a long bar on top but I never knew what it was used for or how to use it. Now I do. Thank you so much.
I love your advice and your teaching. You sound so nice and calm. You make sewing sound like no big deal to those of us who procrastinate on certain fabrics. Thank you and God Bless
Am about to start a project/dress with stretch fabric and this was extremely helpful. You have outlined potential problems and solutions. I am super enthused to get started now instead of forever putting this project off for fear of failure. Knowledge is a powerful thing and with experience will hopefully come confidence. Thank you Madam Sew.
Thank you for this video! I bought some knit fabric months ago to make a dress for my daughter but have been terrified to work with the fabric. Can't wait to try it now using your tips!
Thank you! I had just started sewing on a scrap of stretchy before actually sewing my shirt and it was bunching. You solved it with a short zigzag and my Quilting foot. Thank you sharing your knowledge! ❤🍰
So very, very happy I found your sewing channel! I receive your emails for products, but didn't know you also produced sewing tutorials. The hacks in this video were very helpful. I'm looking forward to watching your other tutorials. I'm now a happy subscriber to your YT channel. 🥰
First time, I watched your video and without wasting of any time ,i directly subscribed it..bcoz your trick worked... Thank you so much🙏 ...Stay blessed pretty woman 😘
Thank you so much for this video it’s been one of the best most informative videos I’ve watched for sewing stretch fabric. I always wondered what that foot was in my set 😂. I’ve subscribed and will enjoy watching more 😊
This video was really helpful. Thank you. I’m new to sewing with knits, so I just wanted to ask you two quick questions about them 1) when gathering stretch knits, do you use a regular long straight stitch as you do with woven fabrics? 2) is there a special interfacing for them, or again is it just regular interfacing please? I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance.
You can just use a straight stitch with a double-needle? My machine is very basic and doesn't have any fancy stitches. It has a zigzag but you can't adjust the stitch width. 😣 It does have the bobbin winder on top so I could put the second spool of thread there.
Thank you so much for these amazing tips & for giving a visual demonstration & explaining each tip so well! This video has truly helped me understand more of the different techniques of stitching! Thank you!!
The lycra I've been using has been bunching up, skipping stitches and it seems the needle won't penetrate the fabric and will just bounce like a trampoline when the needle comes down. The only way I could stitch is if I pulled the lycra as tight as I could which makes keeping to a certain seam distance very hard. I'll have to try these tips and see how things go.
I've always struggled with sewing stretchy fabrics! I always feel like it's stretching out as it sews! I've been sewing for decades..I've tried buying the special needles. I want to attempt making headbands again. Hopefully this time they'll look more professional.
Thank you for this video!! NEW SUBSCRIBER! 🥰 I have a quick question... If I am cutting and sewing a split into a stretchy dress, do I still need to use a zigzag stitch for the split? Thank you again, I appreciate your help!! 😊
Thank u so much dear that was really helpful💚. i have a problem with my sewing machine related to the bottom bobbin keeps piling up in certain areas makes me sew on the right side of the fabric. I donnu what to do.. can anyone tell me what should i do
Thanks for the useful tips! I have a question which might be stupid (sorry): when using stretch fabrics do you need to use a stretchy thread? Is stretch thread even a thing?
Hi, thanks for the video ✨🙏 great advice. As a professional sewer what would you recommend when getting a sewing machine for stretch fabrics? I love brother brand but not sure which one? Thanks so much in advance
I have a question Is it possible to do a smock stitch on jersey? I am trying a lot of different parameters but nothing works 😭😭😭😭 I used an elastic thread under and a normal thread above Any tips?
super dumb question so when you say strechy material don't raffle and we don't have to finish the edge, that means we don't need to add back stitch right? thank you in advance !
A backstitch is not the same as 'finishing the edges'. Finishing is with a serger or a zigzag or overlock stitch. Backstitching is to lock your thread.
Your calm voice, it feels like a hug

Thank you for the very clear clam instructions. Very helpful!!!
Thank you for this. In your last tip, you mention stabilising the hem a little. How would I do this with Lycra please?
You could use fusible interfacing with a 2-way or 4-way stretch or starch spray.
@@MadamSew thank you
Great advise👍

Can u tell the numbers of the needles u show for jersey fabric for brother sewing machine.
Which number needle use for this type of febric???
My Brother CS 7000X does have specialty zig-zag stitches. Do you suggest any particular one or is it all trial and error?
Thank you for sharing such help info!
Hi 👋 this works for polyester too?
Yes, for a polyester blend, you mean? Polyester in itself doesn't stretch. This video is about fabrics with stretch.
What is the name of that specific fabric I want to buy bed sheets with this material with my purple bed is this Bamboo ?
What footer will iuse if my sewing machine is butterfly.
when the thread* becomes bunched up, do you recommend to regulate the tension rather than change the foot? thank you!
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😁✨🌹TKU DEAR,going to your blog..
Thank you for your tips. Please how do I body fit a stretchy dress, that has been my major issue in sewing🤦♀️
How do you prevent the fabric getting jammed into the machine?
This happens mostly when you start. I put a little piece of paper underneath the fabric and just sew through it and tear it away afterwards.
Thank you very much, beautiful lady☺
How wonderfully helpful. Thank you :)
Can u plz give me link to buy strechty fabric
Did I miss it??? What about stretch thread? Like eloflex??
