I was there! And I was so happy that they played this song and that they also played it last!!! This is my all time favorite DT song to this day. I screamed as soon as it started.
if you’re not aware he’s played smaller drum kits prior to DT, but once he joined he experimented with all the extra stuff for years. They also planned their sets way ahead of time and they know exactly the amount of gear they’ll need, since they aren’t changing setlists every night like they used to they can optimize space in their freight trucks. remember that it’s their first tour after covid and they’re traveling with a full production of visuals.
@@JorgeCastillo-yd5jx: Hey, thanks a lot. Appreciate the detail. As mentioned, I'm a fan of Mike's but not the band, so I wasn't aware of the mechanics that went on. Much appreciated! :)
Cool that Portnoy got to see what a real DT production can look like when you aren’t changing the setlist every night and when you play to a click that syncs up video and lights.
very true. this is the direction the band wanted to go, many don’t like it but it’s the consistency what they were looking for. I personally prefer this production than what Portnoy wanted to do, he improvised too much during live shows, whereas this current production is very very organized.
Be honest I rather listen and watch Mike Portnoy Play Drums for his feel and playing of the kit than Mike Mangini Robot playing if you going play someone else drumming style in a song Play it like he does thats my thoughts
You clearly have no concept of groove, feel or musicianship if you think Mangini plays like a robot...even if you aren't a musician I suggest you take some lessons for any instrument to begin to understand.

The accoustic setting on the Music Man sounds nice.
It’s the piezo pickup with a TC pedal that does the acoustic simulation
Thanks for the upload...great sound recording...
I'm coming here just to check the drum sound live version. I think MP's Tama Classical was there. Thats amazing transformation.
Damn that's beautiful 🤘🤙Congrats on the Grammy and so well deserved ❤🤘

I was there talking to him lol 😂
How does portnoy felt when he watch this song as audience 😭?
I can't stand stand DT personally, but admire Mangini. Anyone know why he chose such a smaller kit this time around compared to prior kits?
Yeah that was a pretty minimalistic set.

It's just practical. Snare sounds fucking great to I might add. Hate I missed this tour
@@bruceguice5306 saw them last night and the snare was cracking. Great rimshot sounds.

Yeah
Even the effects on the guitar changes automatically

Portnoy was there
Portnoy was probably pooping his pant about mm’s drumming
drumming is so inconsistent, I can't believe he is a professional drummer playing like that
