The snare side of the drum could be choking, usually happens when the snare wires are too tight and can’t vibrate freely enough or are too loose and aren’t making enough contact. But in this case I think it’s the former. A lot of metal and prog drummers like their snares tight and run into this problem.
It was perfect for about 25 years. The band is different without Portnoy. I saw that perfection, so I am sure it happened. Things change, and I have not been able to buy into the new version of the band. Every concert, in that era, sold out to faithful fans. When they became popular, through the internet, they welcomed a whole new fan base. It is very different, now.
Did Myung move from that one spot all night? Except after the encore when he positioned himself on stage left so he could be the first one to run offstage. We saw them a few years ago in Raleigh and were second row on his side and I dont think he looked up once the entire show. Great bassist but not very fan friendly in the 12 or 13 times we have seen them.
That's his identity man he's always been that way, timid keeps to himself. He's a great bass player. If you don't like him then fuck off he's one of the founding leaders of DT.
@@austin5732 F off? Seriously? We love DT and have seen them 14 times or so and have tickets to see them in a few weeks. Didnt mean to ruffle your fanboy feathers but what I said is true. Here is a video of the final bow from this show. Looks like I nailed it lol. ruclips.net/video/pzXtap6HTgM/видео.html
You know cream went decades without seeing each other and they pulled of one of their longest concerts spotless. Dream Theater should do that instead of playing songs rushed and obviously without any of the musicians invested in the concert.
yeah im kind of hoping that was just a mixing mistake and not a conscious choice by the band because its like half backing vocals/half lead vocals - if not even more in some lines.
Saw them last night and as much as I loved the show but this song could have definitely been replaced with something newer on the catalog like Barstool Warrior, Looking Glass or Outcry. This was a waste of time as they have such a great catalog to choose from. Or even new like Transcending Time. And as far as the snare comment’s, last night it was cracking with rimshot’s you could hear in the next county!
Mangini and Jordan seems to be the most prepared for the show and the play great where Petrucci makes quite a lot of mistakes and James's singing is really bad :(
Everyone makes mistakes. Its probably harder to notice whenever Jordan and Mangini do but they all have had time off due to covid they are just getting into the swing of things and some of these songs are new and they haven't played them in a while so don't be mad about it.
Impressive after all these years with a fortress of drums, kicks, toms, cymbals presenting a simple configuration like this..How things change!
i´m sure that his drum tech is very happy about it :D
@@BCapelas we don’t talk about Bruno no no no
Just watched them live in Copenhagen. They played absolutely great as always. But this transition really surprised me, i absolutely love it.
🤩😍 got goosebumps..thanks man for sharing..
man it is so good to hear myung once in a while
That transition was clean tho
idk why i like Mike mangini Small drum set up here Btw Mike mangini is Monster 🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥
I was near the front that night and the first thing I thought was where is the second half of Mangini’s kit?
Mangini is the Best
Sure!!!!!
And Portnoy Is the beast!!!! Jajaja 😃😂
Nah..
The empty stage and the mini drumset are probably to reduce touring costs.
What is wrong with the snare! Seems like some times don’t sound correctly

Saw them last night and the snare was cracking out some wholoping great rimshot.
Labrie cant remember the lyrics haha
I ma glad they made a mistakes. Some years go some boomer claiming their performance are perfect because its so perfect.

I suppose he is rather shy, but he does actually move to center stage with JP sometimes for parts of certain songs.

Why is this such a thing? Let the guy be the way he is
WTF is up with that snare sound? Remember ADTOE when you couldnt even hear the snare? Now it overpowers the entire kit. Bizarre.
What happens at 4:30 ?! 😟
People make mistakes.

Backing vocal’s so high in the mixing… I’m not mad at those backing things but this is so embarrassing

The Song seems without any energy. Just compare to the "score" version
its mike mangini mistake not john
mistake JP broo
Mangini plays with a click on his ears, probably JP's mistake since he likes to make some notes sound longer than it is originally

Weird cuz labrie and petrucci were pretty on point when I saw them in Los Angeles
Even touring musicians have off-days. It’s incredibly hard on the mind and body to be as consistent as they are. Give ‘em a bit of slack
Thumb down.....Poor Performance
