6:33 and 9:26 - james is singing in playback once again those "And at last the time has come" parts as he did in the previous gigs.. looks like it's a thing on this tour.
Yeah. The two reasons I think they're doing this are because this song might be for some reason hard to sing for James so he wanted some king of break maybe in the something of a hardest part of that song for him, and the second reason I think that they are trying the audience to see if they recognise the difference in playback and life vocals. But to be honest it's not a playback form the studio album. If you compare these two vocal lines, they are not the same records. That means that the playback thay using on this tour must by from some of the previons years or James recorded it before this tour so it gonna sound like him from nowadays. For my opinion using prerecorded back vocals are not big deal just because they lost their lead back vocalist. And about back lead vocals while James singing the same vocal line live, it's controversial. I think it's okay while they wanna stay at the original tune, because James is just not capable of the same vocals as 10 years ago. But if they dropped down a litle all those sonsg, that are hard for James, thay have to not using the bacl lead vocals simultaneously with James. @@kruza8019 yeah I'm sure that's a new recording of that vocal track. it's different from the original. when some years ago they played I&W half step down i was a bit sad but I realised James wasn't 20 anymore..but playback ? no thanks. at least not from DT. I'm not convinced. I think he's actually singing in that section, because on this video I can hear his live vocals rubbing up against the pre-recorded backing track. It's just that most videos are picking up the louder of the two voices - which would be the pre-recorded backing track. I think the reason for this is because that particular vocal range is difficult for James to maintain - it sits right between his chest voice and his head voice register. So they have a backing track to kind of beef up his vocals. So since he can't get as powerful a result from singing normally, the backing track ends up overpowering his voice. I don't think this situation is as clean cut as "He's lipsyncing" or "he's not lipsyncing". There's clearly a lot more going on here than that. It doesn't look fake to me, and I think the reason it sounds fake is just because the backing track is mixed louder than his live vocals, if that makes sense.
