I'm a magician. I started training in magic when I was a kid, and I was really inspired by professional magicians. Every time I watched a magician doing his job, I felt something special. Everything was going so smooth, and yet it was so unbelievable.
In the end, as I learnt magic, this sensation faded. The magic that I felt when I was younger vanished as I learnt new tricks. In the end, my passion for magic remained, but not for the same reason. Even though magic tricks are nothing more than tricks in my eyes, I can see that to my audience, I'm taking them into the dream realm. But as the performer, I just know there's no magic involved. I don't get the same sensation as I did as a spectator.
When I watched this young cook doing his job, I found these sensations back. Seeing someone performing something seemingly impossible. And yet so flawless. I was sent back to my younger years, when I was admiring illusionists. And it genuinely brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you.
very immersive writing; brought a smile to my face @darnetal

This comment and the channel's reply are so wholesome and beautiful ❤️
There is a notion that if you can explain it, it's not real magic...
men are so hilariously melodramatic lol
onion sister ok boomer
When a Michelin Star chef says they learned something from you, you know you're doing the right thing.
much respect for both of u sensei-tachi (sorry bad eng) hehe
A Chef is never done learning..
This is awesome, u gotta learn from someone somewhere & the support from both the chef & the guy recording is awesome as well 👏👏😁😁 kuddos for helping a fellow sushi/omakase chef/owner 🤗❤😀🤗❤😀🙏☮🤗❤🙏☮😀🤗❤🤗❤🤗❤👏👏👏👏👏
Also, love the explanation of what's made/being served each time -even if some 'seasoned omakase eaters'/'chefs' "know" -- as he said "your never done learning" which I love so much as well as the support/encouragement with each pc/dish also!!! 👏👏😃👏👏😃😃👏👏🤗❤🤗❤😁👏😁👏
or get called a professional
A fan served his idol. how amazing is that even though he got that 3 Michelin star, he still so down to earth and thank Chef Hiro for teaching him some tricks. That's what you call a World Class Chef.
I wonder if he's still got his three Michelin stars in 2021? A few chefs have committed suicide over the stress and pressure of maintaining those stars. I don't think it's worth it in the long run. Look at Jiro though, he's pretty old and still has his stars, but for him it's his life. He wakes up and makes sushi, and goes to bed dreaming of sushi. That's what being a shokunin is all about I guess. It's a way of life.
@@Greyswyndir I think they recently stopped reviewing Jiro's restaurant because it's no longer serving the public rather it's by invitation only.
@@meekiekeek - Seems like the fame has gone to their heads, it's all about the big money now!
It's a true pleasure when you meet someone who truly loves their lifes work. This young man's love and artistic passion with his sushi is nothing short of amazing. It would be mesmerizing to watch him in person make his sushi and place that piece of art in front of you. And I bet it would be one of the greatest things you have ever eaten. And the respect he showed to you Hiro. Awesome
I wish I could afford it. I'm sure it's seriously expensive to eat at his restaurant.
21:10 got me dead, the serene music with the red shirt guy being left out LOL
Damn.. why do him like that 🤣
Your coment got me dead 😂😂
I was genuinely searching for this comment after i saw that hahahaha
Did you notice the look on his face every time the chef said he learned something from Hiro? 🤣😂
Chef Jackson: “I learn a lot from Hiro”
Camera dude: “Hiro, you must be so proud, how do you feel?”
Hiro: Good... afternoon
Good - Afternoon 🤣🤣🤣
I can’t stop it😂😂
It is nice to see this intimate open dialog between master chefs. And of course if this meal puts a smile on Hiro's face this must be amazing. The satisfied smile is the ultimate mark of approval.
Insane. What a wonderful story of a quest of someone learning from Hiro on RUclips who got inspired to train in Japan to become a master sushi chef, then has the honor and opportunity to serve Hiro so many years later.
My baby treated me here for my birthday. It was a spectacular experience. Yes it is extremely pricey however the service and food is impeccable. Everyone from chef to water-boy moves in an art form that is noticeable but yet subtle. Do call 2 weeks in advance. Seating is very limited. Hiro-San its an extreme honor to have this chef follow your techniques and still a follower after owning a successful business.
You can tell this chef studied and stayed around Japanese people. Incredibly humble, not obnoxiously loud, and talented.
i work in a sushi restaurant, and i loved this video so much, i showed it to all my colleagues, because i thought chef Jackson just summed up the essence and philosophy of sushi-making perfectly in just a few words. and then proceeded to demonstrate it through his beautifully skillful and dedicated work. amazing, all of you guys involved are awesome and i am grateful for this. good afternoon!
Just hearing how respectful they're towards one another deservses a like from this viewer. Beautiful craft and presentations. Double thumbs up!
Hiroyuki Terada - Diaries of a Master Sushi Chef thank you for your time!
"Hiro, how's the uni?"
"Good afternoon"
I haven't seen such a beautiful video on RUclips in a long time. This truly had me mystified throughout the whole video. I normally never comment but I had to for this. Thank you so much. This is why I love sushi. It is truly watching art being made right in front of you. To truly get the pride and feelings of what the chef is creating just for your palate. Amazing.
the fam in the red shirt at 21:10 never got to kampai with the chef :(
I saw "life changing" and "sushi" in the same sentence. So I knew I had to instant click.
I see life changing & sushi and think fugu 🤣
Great control, understanding, and knife skills. Truly a master chef.
I’m so taken back by the level of skill and discipline that these masters display with their knife skills. Wonderful finesse. Great video!!! It felt like I was there enjoying the moment with you.
Rip to the guy that got left hanging at 21:15
Also love how the chef calls the food sexy, my kinda dude
I’ve watched a lot of sushi chef videos and omakase videos, but they all seemed... inauthentic somehow, but this one, the way he speaks and prepare the food, it’s simple but there’s an elegance a genuine desire to make good food, not just for fame or money.
Well deserved Michelin stars. Great video as always
I like how he quoted Bruce Lee. It was a loose quote. But the original quote says, " I fear not the man who has practiced a thousand kicks one time, but the man who has practiced one kick a thousand times."
That's racist
@@thatoldserpent851 How so?
What a great experience you all had there. It is nice to see a chef loving his craft and sharing it with those in the trade. And having Chef Corey Lee that same night made it even better. My friend worked at Benu with Chef Corey before opening up a restaurant on the east coast. Thank you for sharing this experience with us.
WOW!! What beautiful artwork. GREAT video Chef Hiro. 👏👏👏
Hiroyuki Terada - Diaries of a Master Sushi Chef I should be thanking you Chef, you have an amazing gift, and an amazing channel. I’m honored to be part of your FIRST million viewers. 😊👍
So respectful, skilled, and focused.. amazing
That was a great video!! I can’t stop watching these. Thank you both for all the time you put in to make these videos.
Thank you for this experience! Delightful! Have tucked this info away for my next trip to SF.
This is part art, part fine dinner and part life experience. It is stuff like this that makes me think "It is good to be alive"
You guys looked like you had an exceptional experience that night. So jealous! Thanks for sharing it with us.
How great is it when the chief at a 3-star Michelin restaurant says "I learn a lot from you!"? Great job, Hiro-san!
Thank you for sharing this amazing dining experience with us! Thank God I live on the west coast so I'll be visiting Chef Yu very soon!
This was truly inspiring. I learned how to make sushi from my aunt, who lived in japan for a while. I make sushi now, for my family and myself. I have learned so much from watching Hiro's videos and now this one. I'm a custom woodworker and cabinet maker by trade, however cooking is my passion. Perhaps one day i can go back to cooking/sushi school and open my own place. I spent my youth growing up in the U.S, Germany and Thailand. Which is reflected in my cooking.
Such a humble chef. Outstanding.
Thank you for the video. I will definitely check that place when I am around the area. Keep up the great work you guys.
I remember watching that video when it came out and it inspired me so much now I'm in a kitchen as a line cook at 16!
Awesome video guys! I love watching this channel! Good Afternoon guys!!!
the passion of the chef is amazing! so inspirational
It’s amazing to see a chef so young and talented displaying such works of art in his food. It is clear that all these came through hard work and dedication on his part. But what’s even more amazing is his display of humility even after he has “made it”. His unpretentious tribute that he gave to Hiro throughout the meal for being influential in his success was truly captivating.
He’s 38, not exactly young is he
@@Lightworkps thats young buddy
A beautiful tribute to a local wizard. Thx Chef Hiroyuki
Loved this one, thank you so much and Good afternoon🙏
Getting chills watching a Master at work!
the genuine respect between the chefs!
Chef: "Just keep doing it 10,000 times" that gave me guidance and something to look forward to that someday I will be great at my craft.
Looked amazing, Wonderful to see someone so talented and successful also being hard-working and humble. Amazingly likeable video. Keep up the good work, and thank you for showing us these other places as well. I wish you continued success.
Just absolute art! I’m enjoying eating this with my eyes.

hiro-san and camera man. It is very refreshing to see you guys feature restaurants like this. It feels like a TV show on RUclips. Keep up the good work. I hope there is a way to monitize this more on this format on views that would be a great feat!

*THATS ..... ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO .... THANKS FOR THAT ...!*
Good Afternoon!!!❤️ love this channel
I'm not getting hungry (but am I supposed to? lol) while watching these masterchefs at work. Instead I get so relaxed and/or sleepy because of how careful/graceful they perform and how elegant their masterpieces turned out to be. I don't know why but in some way it's hypnotizing.
Nice. I also like the music (piano piece) used in this video.
I like this chef. The way and the effort taken to explain his way of work is inspiring. Just like the guy who is a magician explained earlier.
Congratulations to chef of Omakase. To Master chef Hiro. And cameraman. Great video
I will go there since I’m in the Bay Area!! Looks amazing!!

Amaizing personality, highly skilled and well behaved, down to earth but sky high knowledge of his preparations. Bravo to the chef. And our chef must have been honored to be there and he was treated appropriately. Bravo.
Retired from working as a Sushi Chef for 10 years and my mouth is still watering 🤤
Seafood is by far my favourite food on the planet. Itadakimasu!
