I love it when cooking videos keep the mistakes in because these things happen. Being able to adapt to a flub like using up all your milk when you weren't supposed to is just as important a skill as being able to follow a recipe.
They say that when Julia Child was making her cooking show back in the day, if a difficult task went TOO perfectly, sometimes she would reshoot it and include a "mistake" so people wouldn't be too intimidated to try making it themselves.
I like it when they can make an impromtu bit out of it, like Babish did with his first Tiramisu video. But I also like his unscripted videos, because he's explained that he's not a organised chief and it's only his editing skills that make his recipes look so clean.
He doesnt tell us the ammount of cornstarch used
if you like this, go check out what i think was his tiramisu video, where the bottom of his springform pan isnt attatched as he picks it up and the contents of the pan dump all over the floor

I was so stressed out this morning, and I can't begin to explain how easily it melted away after hearing that music.
I would recommend looking up the Undertale soundtrack on RUclips-it's phenomenal!
If you like this music search for the "LoFi Hip Hop" Genre on RUclips/Spotify, etc. Easily my favourite genre of music these days.
If I ever make this, I'm totally turning on the Undertale ost to work to. 'Home' seems like a lovely tune to eat the pie to.

I sometimes make a half butterscotch cinnamon pie/ half dark chocolate pudding pie I call the "Undertale." Obviously, the chocolate was added in as a nod to Chara.
Now add spaghetti and instant ramen noodles.
And it is the final course after Spaghetti, instant noodles, hot dogs, french fries, hamburgers, and _the souls of the innocent._

I have been making a butterscotch-cinnamon pie every year for Thanksgiving since I first played Undertale in 2015. This recipe is definitely a step up from the one I have been using! Cheers

I used to make this pie all the time! the recipe I found (which I got from a friend in a video game orchestra that was playing the undertale soundtrack) was less of a pudding pie like this one, and more like a pumpkin pie without the pumpkin, and all the butterscotch flavor was actually in the whipped cream. This video's making me want to make it again :)
I've literally been asking for this for the longest, and you finally delivered. Undertale is my favorite thing ever, and seeing this made me happy.
As someone who's made a very similar recipe five times in 3 years, mad respect to anyone who makes their own pie crusts. And for anyone who hasn't eaten this pie, it is heavenly.
What does it taste like?
Knowing that Alvin so perfectly recreated a dessert filled with such simplicity and love from your mother… it fills you with determination.

That’d be a lot of fun. There are so many dishes in that game. Honestly, the Pokémon company could release a cookbook based on that game, and it’d be a lot of fun.

I literally gasped when I saw this and I was not disappointed, it looks how my mind thought the pie looked and I didn't even know how I thought it looked
I was subjected to bad butterscotch meringue pies growing up... Overly sweet, with a split, runny meringue, with a tasteless crust made with no salt, flour and crisco, and usually with a soggy bottom.
It is my mother's favorite. She makes it at every occasion.
This sounds like it would be a much better pie.

You should do snail pie next. I've been making it myself for years, based off a Tumblr user's recipe, and I could definitely use tips on how to improve it.

Now it might be because I've made the batter too thin on occasions, but I've used the custard for trifles and cookie dip (which was also thin enough to be a glorious vanilla ice cream topping)! The first time I made it, my family decreed that the filling far overshadowed the crust, and could work with so many other things.
i made this for christmas and it was a huge hit, thank you alvin! for anyone wondering, it tastes a bit like pecan pie without the pecans.

@@marsmallowtoast no worries! i just kinda eyeballed it but i would say about 3 tablespoons, i did end up having to place the mixture back on the heat so it would thicken but it turned out fine

Hey, so I followed this recipe and it was really great tasting, but there's no measurement for corn starch, so I eyeballed it and the pie kind of spilled into itself when i cut a piece out. How much corn starch should I have used here?

I looked up other recipes and found one that used 1/4 cup. I tried that and it turned out fine but maybe a little too thick so maybe a little less

Again, I eyeballed it. It was probably something like 2 1/2 tbsp. It definitely showed in the final product. It had the consistency of a slightly loose pudding.
