only online was to prevent piracy... But DRM only effects valid customers as those who pirate their games dont encounter the DRM as it was worked around in the pirate copy. at most DRM only delays pirates a few weeks.
So HotS was a good game when the dev team behind the game finally found their footing and had a clear goal for what they wanted the game to look like. It had a rocky start but settled quickly into it's place in the gaming market. It had a really involved and dedicated dev team and a niche but loyal playerbase. The problem was Upper Blizzard wanted the game to be bigger than League of Legends and when the game just couldn't preform to that level they overhauled the whole monetization system to try and squeeze as much money out of the playerbase as possible and when the game still wasn't making a bajillion dollars they slowly phased the popular dev team to the faceless blob of the WoW team and the game slowly withered to it's living husk it sits in today. If Blizzard management just kicked rocks the game would have grown slowly but solidly into a small but very dedicated playerbase. Not enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with League and DotA but enough to sit at the HoN and Smite table.
I've been surprisingly addicted to warcraft rumble the past 3 months, despite never really liking any RTS games before, and never really liking ANY mobile game before either. It's just so freaking fast. And I love all the units. And I love that it is so PVE focused, I hate PVP.
Diablo 1 a dark cellar with knife in hand and a tourch to light about a foot in front... diablo 2 a dark forest with weird noises and errire silince across a dark feild at night, Diablo 3 a wide open feild in day light filled with target dummies with a machine gun and a backpack full of ammo. wonder were and why the feeling died.
The history of blizzard is just sad. So many amazing games in the past, and you just know they'll never make anything worth your money ever again. Also HotS is really fun, Blizzard just knew they couldn't compete with LoL and DOTA2. But HotS is way more casual - having stopped playing dota at around 3400 hours, I enjoyed HotS a lot more because the matches take way less time and there's less knowledge required for each hero. I still jump in ARAM for some quick matches.

That game is for nintendo rc Pro am racing. This blows my mind, people just ignore copyright laws intelectual ideas being art. Guzu FTW
I saw this video earlier, but very cool to see your takes on it
