yooooou man are a great person, im learnin with ur videos for 3 days and im improving the mayor scales in jazz, this 3 days i have learned more than in 3 mounth
I just discovered your channel! I like how straight forward these videos are. The way you do two notes at a time and increase as you go really helps with adding the notes/fingerings to my memory. Thank you!
Oh my god. For me you shined the brightest light my friend. Thank you so much! I will practice this video first. Cheers from cathedral city California. Be safe
Dude these videos are saving me right now, started playing trumpet in 6th grade and got pretty good but then put it down for a couple years, now I’m picking it back up for my cover band for a couple of our tunes, and I realized I got everything I need but the scales for most of em 💀
Great Job!! I have not played in 40 years and some buddies started playing their guitars a few years ago and after hearing some Cindy Bradley, it was time to get back into the game!! I will be watching all of yours and Thank you for what you do!! Awesome teaching!!!!
Yeah it’s the 12 major scales for placing purposes. My symphonic teacher wanted to see our skill sets. I’ve done trumpet for 3 years already and I just need to relearn a few again. I doubt I’ll ever forget b flat. Thanks for what you do. You are so calm and make it so simple and fun. Keep up the wonderful work
I'm actually at school in a small room practicing my scales and I just preformed it to my band teacher and I got a sticker I'm done all my scales thank you so much
I don’t know anything about the trumpet but I looked this up cause I was curious. How are E and A both fingered 1 and 2? I imagine it has something to do with the slide at the bottom but I didn’t see it move between E and High A
well done. do you have any advice for someone who wants to get back into playing? I played for about 4 years as a pre-teen and now at 20 want to get back into playing more consistently. thanks.
Develop your fundamentals first: -Learn/memorize Major scales and arpeggios -Be able to play major scales in one octave -develop a routine that covers an exercise for each category: long tones, flexibility, dexterity, range (low, mid, high), articulation, scales, arpeggios and music -have patience and don’t try to tackle songs or exercises that are way above your current skill level. It will only frustrate and discourage you -remember to have fun -learn from a private teacher so you can get regular feedback and someone to hold you accountable
I'm not a prof so I really need to ask this question: if there are 3 trumpets ,the 1st plays in c how do I find part 2 for the second trumpet and part 3 for the third?? Greetings from suriname
@@TheBlackTrumpeter wasn't referring to a specific one but the type a music Mostly play is hymnals... so I would say Crimond in this case... hope you could help me
The Black Trumpeter to tune my ears and perfect my embouchure. Says I must be able to hit the note without that aid. The band players hit those notes without using the slide apparently 🤔🤪 What do you think? 👍
Barry Hunt there’s value in doing that but why make the adjustment with the embouchure if you don’t have to. You’re working too hard. how long have you been playing?
The Black Trumpeter 2 years this week. I’m 74 😁 I have wondered (do study) these things. This band though is an award/competition winning band on the South Coast of England. They are very good, I’m not! I’m doing very well really, but I do question some things. Like as, I take note of your advice, in, Why make it hard work. However I can’t, not do what I am told 🤔
Barry Hunt do whatever you want. Take every piece of advice with a grain of salt. Try stuff. Experiment. See what works for you and ignore everything else.
Oh my God this helped me so much because I was so confused with what the notes were and I was just totally lost but this helped me a lot!

How about playing
C# with just fingering 1&2? Is that better?
That fingering is for the higher octave.

The Black Trumpeter Went Great! Moving on up to symphonic band!!
When you can’t find it in your book🥲
My band teacher told me to learn to play the notes without pushing out the tuning slide 🤔🤪👍
Barry Hunt why? The more you start to use your tuning slides now, the easier it will be.
