FYI Your Mic is glitching on the right channel, I thought it was my computer until I replayed the video and found it was to do with your audio track. It was kinda annoying, You may need to switch it to Mono for the Mic or you may need to replace it. Cheers!

      Why, single core the first and second worser score and watt per ipc than a good clocked x99.
      I ran 4.2 @1.13v (138 watt) and 4.3 @ 1.15v (157 watt) with 1660v3.
      Scores faster than threadripper second edition.
      Multicore always threadripper faster.
      And i can go up to 4.8ghz ( 240 watt) on 1.35v core voltage on all cores.
      I dont see why i buy threadripper.
      I no one aplication that uses multicore scores most times lower dan x99.
      What i have tested.
      X99 can run FSB 100/125/166 as bclk😊

    The V4 cpus run very cool. The v3 can be overclock with turbo unlock but not much faster. I have one 2680v4 that runs as fast as the 2697v3 that is turbo unlocked at 3.6ghz on multicore. The v4 chips runs ram at 2400 mhz while the v3 chip is locked at 2133. The 40mb L3 cache on the v4 is very useful in apps using few chores. Great server / workstation board. I think these dual boards lower the ram to 2133 when 4 modules are populated.

What was taking me on average 9 hours, now takes me 3 hours, for a 20m short animation. I fitted it with 2x AIOs I had to make my own brackets out of sheet aluminium to fit them but no problems. I have it set up in my old Cooler master X1 Server case from 2012 they are massive I needed that because it already has my 1200w APU fitted and an 8 bay HDD caribe each having 2Tb storage space all holding files from past jobs and uncompleted jobs I'm still working on. Tip for Dual NVME:
    On the right of the NVME slot (17:15 where you installed your drive), there are 4 black jumpers together.
    Change all of them and put a second NVME in the other Slot

    13:45 - They're not "shaved", they're actually tapered. I have a kit of 64gb (16 x 4 dimms) DDR4 and they've got the same tapered ends. I think it's made on purpose for insertion into their sockets. All in all, this board is not too shabby for the price it comes. The only drawback is the Gigabit ethernet, but it depends on what you are going to do with the system. The bios isn't bad also, considering it's a chinese board. I saw a video of a similar system which mounted a 2060 I believe, and under stress it was barely pulling some 300ish watts.

      @@seanwood5443 it's legit the way all standard DDR4 PCBs are, all DDR4 modules I have ever seen (about 8 brands in person at this point) all have the tapered contact edge, noticed this about 3 years ago. My educated, amateur opinion on the change in the shape was to alleviate board flex and insertion force requirements for putting in memory, the edges being higher would make the pressure they require to happen after the center of the ram's contacts are already in place and "relaxed" instead of the old days where the entire module's contact pad had to be pressed between contacts all at the same time.

    • @samohraje2433
      @samohraje2433 Месяц назад

      @@Daniel-ye1ssif you leave some PCIe lanes for "comunication" between those 2 cpus than no. Usually the "comunication" is done via 16+8 PCIe lanes so the each CPU leave you 16 lanes, 32 in total. The " comunication " is not really a comunication but it is synchronization. And the sync is done via memory ( faster memory means faster and more precise sync ) via cache and buses and bus is also a PCIe. But yea.. there is not as much difference because you can occupie both 16x slots and both x4 for NVMe and pc will work anyway. The stuttering comes from misunderstanding between 2 cpus where both cpu request same thing. Nothing speciall... those cpus has error correction already implemented inside but that needs to be done extremely fast othwerwise it will fall in to the request loop and just after few nanoseconds it will freeze. Or both cpu will freeze and you'll have BSOD. But usually this is happening even on 1cpu config, the app itself could be somewhere in the kernel badly written and if you do speciffic moves, it fall in to the request loop.

      Dual CPU is not a good deal for Gaming, most games don't use more than 6 cores.
      The internal ring that connect the cores on processors with more than 10 cores have issues in Xeon v3 and v4, this is not a bug is a feature.
      The swich context between the numas is on OS and can charge a lote of overloads.
      If you don't have a load of work running in parallel to make cores busy two CPUs only bring trobles.
      The better application for this machine is work with multiples independente systens running in the same machine with virtualization.

      @@Prescott2400-my6di you have absolutely no idea brother... Yes, modern games does not require more than 6 cores but higher is always better. Let's just say 8C/16T, absolute sweetspot. You'll leave some cores for the rest of the system so you won't have stutters. On the other hand dual cpu config is only good if you pick a right xeon. You need higher core clock and higher core count.

But even AM4 parts is comming down in price you can not get it for under 500$. It comes down to how good that mobo is. It's kinda something like what the older Mac Pro's are build with and they were pretty awsome for pro DAW work with loads of orchestral tracks running at the same time, but it IS old tech today

    Hi Mr Coopertom? Are you using it as a DAW? How is your conclusion about this dual Xeon processing audio in real time? Thanks in advance.

    • @Coopertom
      @Coopertom  2 месяца назад

      I was planning on using it as a DAW but I ended up using this PC as my main work PC for Unity, and video editing. So far its been rock solid and burns though rendering jobs with no problems. I'm currently using the previous i7 4790k build as the DAW now which I found out is more than enough to run all the virtual synths I have so the x99 would have been total overkill.

    • @Coopertom
      @Coopertom  Месяц назад

      Not sure what that code is off the top of my head but I know when I first powered my system on it has to go through a few initial tests which took some time. I'd say, pull the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS and power it up again but let it run for about 10 min and see what happens. If it doesn't get past that error, pull some of the memory sticks and see if you can get it to boot with just one stick. If that works, power it down, add another stick of memory and see if it boots again. Then repeat. Hope it works!

    V3 xeons are better than V4's. You can use simple hack to remove micro code and enable all-core turbo to get tons of extra performance. I have two X99 builds. Love them to death. The only issue is that it's all about luck what you receive when you oder from Aliexpress. I bought two 2698 V3's and one of them was faulty and caused crashing when the power usage was closing the TDP value.

    For gaming or anything single core , this is no Bueno. Also only makes use of dual channel memory. Takes a lot of bios setting changes to get just right, jumper settings for 2nd nvme to work. In hindsight I should have built one with a machinist board instead but didn't have any documentation
