I agree as incredible a lifter he is. He is also one hell of a good guy. A few years ago I saw him at a meet. He was coaching a deadlifter. Some kids were playing video games. He was rooting for the kids as much as he was the lifting. Even paying for a few of their games. I was impressed
theDiamondMaker yeah I think you’re right that 901 lbs was smooth then it slowly declines. Im sure I read somewhere when he attempted that 920 he hurt his adductor pretty badly
Injuries built up, including a recurring groin one (and he would later end up needing a hip replacement, though I don't know when that actually happened). Also his career overlaps the time period where the IPF gradually transitioned from more or less untested to 'take what you like out of comp but you have to pass the test on the day' to something approaching proper drug testing. That will have an effect and his post-ban untested comeback is from long past his competitive prime.
4 times his own weight guys, 4 fucking times. I cant even comprehend. You have elite, you have supersayjin and you have ed coan. What in the actual fuck. GOAT of all times.
what does "31" look like? It's hard to say what genetics make someone look like vs. prematuring aging of steroids unless you are able to separate the two factors. Some people just look a little older, some younger..
Ed Coan is the GOAT. Such a good genuine guy too.
that ST feature with Ed Coan is still the best thing Mark has done on YT imo
This dudes an actual forklift
That clip with malanichev at the start is heartwarming.
Coan has an underrated physique tbh
I watch anything with ed coan. Such a champion. At power lifting and at life.
Pound for pound, the greatest powerlifter of all time. Ed Coan is a legend. Thank you for this video.
This video is the best preworkout before your deadlift days
This is awesome. Love your channel! Keep doing your thing!
hitting almost Larry Wheels weights at about 50lbs lighter, definitely decades ahead of his time
For a lot of people Larrys no one
Whats a larry
Thanks for the content.
This might be my favorite video you made yet! Keep up the good work bro
Speakers blew out from the clip around 8:00 but awesome video
The Goat

He was so far ahead of his time, it is not even funny.
The goat.
Missed more than half the deadlift videos of Ed for this video.
Good job! You should make a video on the future of powerlifting (newcomers)
Just type "noriega powerlifting" to the search bar
@@KL_Stereo that dude and his ugly ass form is definitely not the future
Why was his deadlift dropping so much ? I was under the assumption Most strength athletes don’t peak until mid to late thirties
must have been injuries , looks like his peak was 28, didn't realize that.

anthippo91 that is correct

@@anthippo91 Believe he made mention of this in the Sumo Deadlift tutorial he did with Mark Bell and Silent Mike.

Anyone know why he switched to conventional
adductor injury
Diarmuid Balfe Sumo deadlift ruined his hips and he had to get a hip replacement
What steroids do to you. At 25 he looked 40. Larry wheels is 24 and looks 31
glad you could provide us with the exact numbers. you don't know science gabriel knows science it sick it gene readening it telepathic dna analyzening
@@KL_Stereo english must not be your first language so I'm gonna give you a chance to reply back with a comment that isn't non-sense
But these guys are insanely strong, a fair trade for them. Who cares about looks anyways in Powerlifting? You concentrate on your strength.

Xx BigBoss xX no he doesn’t at all
Steroid progression!
U jealous?
Anyone lifting weights that needs a team to surround them while they do so is never that impressive, Team Cohen or Quads gym!
Team Coan, means "alot of helpers"
no its deadlift progression
When you’re squatting 1000lbs I don’t care how much gear you use...
