    I've got the MT-09 SP from the previous generation. Bought it brand new last year and still enjoying every single second I sit on this thing. I love videos like this, because I can totally relate to your first impressions and I am always happy to see other riders experiencing that type of happiness.
    Ride safe and congratulations to your new bike brother.

    I'm so happy, and freaking jealous at the same time for you. I caught you video cuz I'm searching for a replacement, and upgrade bike that lost in a wreck just a couple of months ago. I was thinking about getting the MT07, but than I changed my mind in getting the next best thing. This beautiful thing that you got. I would love to get the red, but in actuallity I don't really care forthe color as long as I can get that bike. I can't wait till I'm fully healed, and able to ride to get this bike.

    I own a 2017 FZ-09 that a bought new. Some of the great features of this bike is the ride position is so comfortable, the fact that you sit into the bike and not on top of it like my 2005 ZRX1200R, the CP3 cross plane motor just absolutely sounds amazing and I'm talking the motor not the exhaust, and my year the air intake sounds like a whistling freight train when you roll open the throttle in top gear. The stock brakes are really good you just got to let them pad wear into the rotor for a few miles until they mesh up. Power is everywhere on this bike as a blip of the throttle and your looking at the sky... This bike is all hooligan once you get used to it and its one of the most fun bikes to ride all day long as it comfortable and you can ride with any class of bike and still keep up with them... Yamaha really needs to get their head together with designing the front cowl cause my year looks like a transformer... I bought a slightly taller wind screen where it puts the wind more at my helmet than in my chest like the stock one does. Great bike and I've never had any issues with it since a bought in new in 2017...Good luck with yours...

      Compare that to the MT-09, which has 117.4 hp and 93 Nm (68.6 ft-lb) of torque @ 7,000 rpm, you end up with two bikes with very similar top speed characteristics (with the R6 being even a bit faster due to its gearing), but the MT-09 has way more torque. Tips for new MT-09 owners. You can set a rev indicator for 5300rpm during break in, which you are not supposed to pass, that turns it orange. Very handy. And break in is easier in drive mode 4 as it cuts the power back a bit.

    • @FullThrottleFreedomChannel
      @FullThrottleFreedomChannel  11 месяцев назад +1

      Great tip! Those are both great tools to help with the break in process.
      To add to this, the wording in the manual states, “avoid prolonged operation above 5300 RPM [for first 600 miles / 1000km]”
      Short bursts above 5300 RPM (even up to redline) are okay and even beneficial during the break in process as long as they’re not sustained. They help to bed in the cylinders over the full range of RPMs that they will encounter.
      Fortnine covers this topic in the “How to Break In Your New Motorcycle” video.
      My dealer told me, “Ride normally during the break in. Don’t run speed trials or bounce the engine off the rev limiter and you’ll be fine.”
      The 5300 RPM is more of a guideline than a hard rule.

    • @Sunrazor
      @Sunrazor 11 месяцев назад

      @@FullThrottleFreedomChannel I somewhat agree. It's not a hard limit but the idea is to polish all surfaces. This include cams, crank etc. And even though fortnine is a great channel I think polishing is done carefully. So I would ride softer than normal. High revs cause higher load on surfaces but some short bursts with limited throttle is probably a good idea. 😊 And this will not show up until years later if done wrong. Any new engine can be run however you like. But it will affect the longevity of the engine.

      @FullThrottleFreedomChannel  2 года назад

      After riding the bike for about 1000 km, they've definitely improved, but they still don't have as much initial bite as I would like.
      Just personal preference more than anything, but I like it when the braking power starts right away, pretty much as soon as the pads touch the rotor (10-20% of total brake level travel). With these, it feels like the braking power doesn't really onset until about 40-50% of total brake lever travel.

    • @FullThrottleFreedomChannel
      @FullThrottleFreedomChannel  2 года назад +1

      It’s definitely a supply chain issue from Yamaha. I pre-ordered mine back in January and I only just got it in mid-May. When I ordered mine, most dealerships were already sold out and they hadn’t even received the bikes yet. Other manufacturers also have limited stock, but Yamaha is one of the worst, from what I’ve heard.
      Unfortunately for most places, I think the stock that they received (or that’s being shipped right now) is the only stock they’re getting from Yamaha for the entire year… My dealership didn’t get any 2021 models AT ALL, and they are only getting 2 MT-09s and 1 MT-09SP this year, and that’s it.

      This is solid advice. Unfortunately, I had to learn this the hard way when I first started riding a few years ago… I always rode to 90 or 95 percent of my limit, and one day I crossed over that threshold. I didn’t have the training to correct my mistake before I hit the ditch. I fortunately walked away unscathed, but sadly I ended up totaling my first bike. Hard lesson to learn.
      I am still by no means an exceptional rider, but I’ve learned to be much smarter on a motorcycle. Now I only ride up to 70 percent (usually much less than that) of what I’m capable of, so I have that extra 30 percent to give when something unexpected happens.

      @FullThrottleFreedomChannel  Год назад

      To be honest, it’s not the best starter bike unless you are already somewhat familiar with riding. And even then, I wouldn’t start on something this new regardless of how much I knew about bikes. It’s a perfect second or third bike though!
      But, if someone did decide to start on a 2021 or newer MT-09 (has to specifically be 2021 or newer), there are 4 different drive modes that would let them build up to the bike’s full power.

    • @FullThrottleFreedomChannel
      @FullThrottleFreedomChannel  Год назад +1

      @@victorhuang5516 Might not be a bad idea! The reason I say that is that a lot of people end up dropping or tipping over their first bike, and end up dinging it up. And if you don't, then that just means whatever bike you buy for your first bike will hold more value when you're ready to sell!
      Not to mention that learning to ride can be hard on a bike from all the stalling, harsh/choppy inputs, wear on the clutch from learning how to shift and get the bike going, etc.
      Finally, bigger bikes are harder to control which can further contribute to dropping or looping the bike.

      @@MorManIg Fair enough! You won't regret going with the SP at all. One thing I've learned about colors, is that 9/10 times the color you get ends up growing on you anyways.
      Mine doesn't have cruise control no... I thought that was such a cool feature too. For most of the riding I do, I wouldn't need it, but it sure would be nice for those longer rides!

    any regrets on not getting the black?

    • @FullThrottleFreedomChannel
      @FullThrottleFreedomChannel  2 года назад +1

      Surprisingly, no. It’s been over a month now, and if anything, I’ve grown to like the blue a little bit more than the black. That being said, I probably would’ve said the same thing about the black if I had got it.
      To me, the bike is good enough, that I would be happy with any color I got it in.

      I want to get a new MT09 but i can't decide which color. The Cyan is a bit too loud i think. Being that im 47, not sure its for me. But if i had it, don't think i would complain.

    Nice but I would’ve waited on the black. It’s so rare and just pops. I don’t care for the two tone blue, looks goofy to me. Paint it all one blue color and wheels black like the 2016 model, then we’re talkin.

    • @FullThrottleFreedomChannel
      @FullThrottleFreedomChannel  2 года назад

      That’s what I thought at first too, but I’ve really come around to the blue! And funny enough, I ended up seeing the black in person when I was picking up some other parts, and after getting so used to the blue, the matte black tank looked kind of funny to me.
      Still love the look of the black, but no regrets on getting the blue, especially since I’ve been able to do so much riding with this one already.
