How? Gabby was a grown woman. She was an abuser who attacked her boyfriend for telling her to calm down. This wasn't determined once, but twice, after a full blown investigation. They were BOTH toxic individuals but people just ignore her toxic behavior, justify it or blame Brian. She should have been arrested like everyone else who engages in criminal activity.
Right it's the legitimately the stupidest thing I've ever heard, and he constantly contradicted himself. She would get angry if he woke her up, yet he couldn't just run to the van while she was asleep to call for help? Its absolutely normal to just kill a wounded person when they're injured in 2022, especially after multiple witnesses saw you verbally and physically abuse her in public 😆. Obviously if he couldn't show restraint in public we know what happened in private. His parents need to answer for their crimes ASAP! Not only assisting in the cover up of a brutal murder, and harboring a fugitive, living with them you know they witnessed the abuse first hand. Seems pretty clear they also brainwashed her into believing their son beating her was her fault and their grown man baby should be protected at all costs!

There were exactly two witnesses in Utah. One was the 911 caller who was driving by. The other witness was physically present and flagged down a cop, giving a sworn/signed statement because Gabby was punching Brian. They were gone by the time this cop went to look for them but this witness, Brian and Gabby told the same story, the violence started with her not Brian.

I hate to admit that Drs Law enforcement and Law firm's are failing the American citizens. EMF sensitivity has been recognized as a real Medical condition. microwave auditory effect is a real Medical condition. When people use this technology intentionally to hurt others it's a CRIME. Most likely he hit her on the head, she probably had a concussion or something from that, and that coward didn't want to call help because it would come out he hit her. So instead he decided to get rid of her completely.

The note book was an exercise to find an explanation for his behaviour so he could be saved by his lawyer. Probably that was the plan with his parents and lawyer. I still do not believe a person like this, with parents like his will kill himself. He only disappeared from public eyes.

Also his family encouraged his ways instead of holding him accountable to be better, or get him the mental health help he needs. He would be alive too if they were not blind to their own arrogance, and favoritism. If he wanted to save her, he would’ve taken her car to take her to the ER.

He's such a bad liar. I was sickened by his attempts to make himself look like some kind of hero. He even said in the note he didn't know what her injuries were. Interesting that without that knowledge (which is probably all a fabrication anyway) he would choose to kill her rather than go find help. It's pretty clear that he killed her for other reasons based on the body cam footage from Moab. It seemed like he was trying to find a way to get rid of her at that time by trying to leave her stranded somewhere. He didn't want her around. He probably blamed her for the run-in with the police. My heart goes out to Gabby. I agree that she was just too young to understand the situation she was in. She trusted him and probably never thought he'd kill her :(
Once Brian had had enough of their Western road trip and wanted to separate from her, he should just have said, let's end the engagement and drive home (to his parents', for her to pack up her possessions there and leave), or he should have just boarded a plane and flown home. No need to end her life. Even social media publicized romances can break up; he need not have catastrophized it, to think that killing her was his only option.

A person that genuinely (ever) loved you had they started this trip they would finish it cordially and upon returning home when the other is back and refreshed and hopefully near other loved ones would THEN if still desired end the relationship afterwards, where the other is in a familiar & safe place. Not while out on the road in stressed situations and just leaving the other abandoned/alone.

He used “The English Patient “Movie dramatic scene when the hero left his injured girlfriend alone in a cave to go get help to rescue her . She doesn’t want him to leave her because she’s afraid the fire 🔥 will extinct and she will be left alone , cold 🥶 in the dark . Still he leaves her there to get help . During this waiting she’s writing him a journal note that he will later find when coming back too late to save her ….. He definitely had this movie scene in mind since he used many elements of this movie’s scenario of the most romantic movie in the last 20 years ….

@@chrishintz1077 I think this movie was so famous , you didn’t have to be a movie or book guy to know about it …for sure Gaby had seen it and told him about it because the 🏜 desert with caves “decor “were it was filmed ( Tunisia) was made of “caramel “ color sand very much alike the Utah areas they were visiting ( Grand Teton Park?) with desert / caves surroundings as well . Every woman with a minimum of romantic vibes would remember this English patient movie “aviator hero” and would have shared that story with her boyfriend!

My husband and I followed this case. As soon as I watched the police footage, I knew he was guilty. He was very obviously manipulating the cops to think she was just an overly-dramatic female stressed about him getting the van dirty. She was the one crying and being emotional and he was coming off as the rational man in the situation. Those cops, who sounded like they were young and naive themselves, bought it.
I am certain the state police sheriff's dept and park police involved regret not arresting her that day she might be alive today.

Brian tries to de-escalate the situation and he's called an abuser. Gabby tries to de-escalate the situation and she's called a victim.
Gabby was the primary aggressor but escaped arrest because the cops felt sorry for her. She just engaged in criminal activity and her whining, with a contorted face, kept her from being held accountable for breaking the law. Brian minimized the situation, to keep her out of handcuffs, and he's vilified for it. Of course, people don't want to acknowledge Gabby's behavior because it contradicts the popular narrative. She's the ultimate whyyte damsel in distress, abusers don't look like HER, they look like everyone else.

No one witnessed Brian hitting Gabby outside of the restaurant because it was a verbal altercation, not physical. And it's absolutely a gender thing. You literally have people using excuses like "gaslighting" for Gabby's violence in Moab. People are so emotionally invested in this case that they literally can't tell fact from the stories they make up in their heads. Your post above is a prime example. Bottom line, they were BOTH toxic individuals and the cops should have performed their due diligence in arresting the person they identified as the aggressor.
I agree with your interpretation 100%. Brian's imagined fireside scene reminds me of Kristin Scott Thomas's character's death in "The English Patient." (He carries her across the wilderness, builds a fire, tells her he's going for help and she says "I don't want to die alone in the desert" - the similarities go on and on). His story sounds like a made-up scene that Brian thought would cast him in a romantic-hero role and garner pity from the public. Unfortunately for him, it just reads as romanticized bullshit.

Very good comparison. I remember that movie. That kid was a abuser and monster!! I can't ever watch the clip with Gabby talking with the cops that afternoon, sitting in the back seat of the cop car. It literally breaks my heart. I hope her family finds some peace in life after losing their beautiful daughter. 🕊💔

I don't think Brain Laundry is dead; the wound to the head skeleton is on the left side of his head. He is righthanded. I think his father and mother helped him leave the country and planted the faults evident to cove up his EVIL. He is alive and well, living in Italy with his mother's family. Someone needs to check this out! The mother and father are both as guilty as EVIL Brain is.

I honestly believe this note was left behind as the final opportunity for a narcissist to stroke their own ego one last time. Or to convince himself he was a good person through the distorted view of reality narrative he probably told himself again and again and again.
What if he designed the tale to provide a modicum of relief to her family? That is a plausible possibility.

Why yes. I thought everyone knew strangulation was an act of mercy. He could not even be truthful before his own suicide. Brian Laundrie was a total sociopath. He did not want to face what he had done or face the consequences of his actions.

This letter was just him trying to hide his cowardice. He was too afraid to face the consequences for his actions and killed himself. He even tried to play the martyr by saying he hoped animals would rips his body apart. If Gabby was begging to for him to end it then why was she afraid of the fire going out? In my opinion, they were arguing, Gabby was starting to get the courage to stand up to him, and possibly consider leaving him. I think Brian tried to kill her by hitting her in the head and when he failed he strangled her. If he loves her so much why would he leave her body out in the elements like that to be eaten on by animals? He knew where the car was, he knew what he was doing all alone, and if that family hadn’t been driving by and spotted he can he may have gotten away with it. In the end he made Gabby’s tragic death all about himself like every other narcissist on the planet. It is a tragedy that Gabby was murdered. I wish the police in Utah would’ve had better training to spot a victim of domestic violence and possibly spared all of this from happening. My prayers continue to go out to Gabby’s family, I can’t imagine going through the loss of a child.
Coming from living with an abuser for 10 long years that I met when I was just 18, your analysis was absolutely spot on. My ex acted the same exact way. And, had it not been for nosy friends and intrusive family, I would have suffered the same horrible fate as poor Gabby.

My speculation is that, after an altercation, she tried to swim away, get in the van, and go for help. This rejection, abandonment, and threat of police involvement was more than he could handle. He felt his only option was murder so he could perpetuate the myth that she loved him until her dying day and that he was a hero.

Dr Grande, I have to say this is one of your best. I am so touched by your gentleness, compassion, and understanding of the elements of this case. Even shedding light on why Gabby may have not recognized the danger she was in. She was so very young. It can take years of experience with a narcissist to be able to see the patterns and realize something is wrong. And perhaps she did realize it and was trying to leave. Those of us who have been there know that is the most dangerous time of all.

The last page that was shared to the media where Brian talked about taking his life where animals hopefully would tear him apart, to make Gabbie’s family happy and then telling whomever found him to pick everything up, because, “Gabbie hated litter.” I feel like it was such a huge coded “F-You” to Gabbie and especially, to her family.
I’ve had a couple of exes’ in my life and unfortunately, my mother, who talk in this grandiose style. It’s similar to, “I’m going to hurt/kill myself if you leave.” It’s the, “Sorry to bother you!” When you ask for a boundary(my mom) to be respected or “I am your mother!”
Get out. Get out as fast as you can. It’s easy to fantasize about it getting better. If it’s a parent/ family…”but they are your family, your mother…” Save it. FAMILY can be the most toxic people around you. You have every right to protect your mental health.
Those men are my exes’ for a reason and I keep limited contact sometimes grey rocking my mom. FYI, I have had twice heartfelt sit downs with my mom to no avail. It’s never going to change and I don’t feel sorry for protecting myself.

Absolutely, protect yourself. The most shocking thing about those with various disorders is that they will destroy themselves and those around them in the process of trying to control, manipulate them. It wasn't until I found a thorough therapist and spent the time reviewing people and events, that I began to see the picture and learn about how to protect myself as best I can. The most shocking thing about some abusers / disordered people is their ability to appear saintly to those around them/you particularly, officials, those in positions of responsibility, who in turn due to biases (idealogical & other) support the abuser in their habits and behaviour and even turn against you. So people you trust to support you and family fairly and proportionally acutally become secret manipulators on behalf of the abuser.
Actually, whether intentional or not, the last comment was even worse. It reads: "Gabby hated people who litter". It puts the focus of hatred upon random people, instead of the actual offense of littering, which would make more sense if Gabby's a judicious/fair person who didn't quickly judge people so harshly. It likely made some people speculate about a potential negative aspect of her personality, which Brian may or many not have intended with that final comment. Ugh.

The note has a demented quality that reminds me of interviews of murderers I've listened to where they give their rationales for murdering. The narrative that Laundrie produces is stunningly arbitrary and illogical and incoherent and gives the impression that he's way, way out there in narcissism land. Murdering Gabby is rendered as part of a care strategy.

I reckon it may be smattered with truth, if he wrote it. They could have argued and physically fought and in the course of that, Gabby fell and hit her head. Enough to be badly hurt and for Brian to be in trouble. He then may have killed her, possibly telling himself it was best for her and best for him in the circumstances. In his head that could easily turn in to Gabby falling due to "an accident" and the killing being for mercy. It'll be interesting to see the digital confession on a device they've said exists, which is apparently a different story from this. Maybe it is just a total lie.

I really want to know the story of what his parents knew.

It's insane to me how people still gave him the benefit of the doubt, insisting he didn't kill her before the journal was exposed. If he didn't, he just left her in a National park without reporting her missing, and retained an attorney. I don't think that hiring an attorney makes someone suspicious but the timeline of this case made it suspicious. This is just such a sad situation.
My ex boyfriend was incredibly abusive and would sexually assault me, strangle me and even intentionally got me pregnant but then tried forcing me into having an abortion. I refused because I had already had one and the idea of having another broke me. He strangled me and tried pushing me off a hotel balcony to kill me. I ended up losing the baby. As horrifying as that was, I am lucky that I got away with my life and that I do not have a baby with that monster.
Hearing stories like this makes me feel so sad that so many other women don't make it out alive.

@@lishen9 Well it obviously was not planned. he would sexually assault me when I was asleep or threaten me if I didn't have sex with him. Most women in abusive relationships experience this. Sometimes it's easier to say yes and just get it over with than it is to say no and be assaulted.

I have had a gut feeling that as Gabby and Brian's trip continued, being with each other in tight quarters in that van and with each other 24/7, that perhaps Gabby was realizing that Brian wasn't the one for her. After the Utah incident, I suspect that friction only continued to escalate to the point that he killed her in a rage. Gabby reminded me alot of Shannon Watts..how both of them portrayed their relationships so positively in social media, when in actuality, the relationships were both troubled. Yes and I would add that a lot of people including myself were struck by the how much duress she was under in the video with the cops and how he was all smiles cuz it was all about him and that his narcissism shine through and his manipulation. I think she tried to break up with him when he killed her. What's amazing is that she was with him for 2 years and apparently didn't have a clue. And I would put that down to him hiding it well enough that she didn't until he got her out and I. I can't I come to the conclusion when they were still looking for her body that after that video with the cops that he waited till they got on that trip part way through the trip by the way and then decided to more or less spring the trap of and started being nasty to her started manipulating her to the point where she was she wasn't just upset she was distraught in that video it was hard to watch I felt so bad for her. I know that's how I get get when I'm fighting with somebody I love an upset we upset each other. But he wasn't. So he got her out there and started in honor decided he was going to he was going to make her his little minion his little what do you call him he's going to break her in on the on the trip and I think may I think possibly his father he got that from his father and that he wanted Gabby to be like his dear old mom. Dr.Grande thank you for your thoughtful analysis. This is a parent’s worst nightmare. Brian’s narrative in his notebook is not only self serving but shows what a sociopath he was. Even in his last words he could not take accountability for what he did to her. What is even worse is his parent’s behavior hiding behind the constitution of remaining silent and withholding vital information from Gabby’s parent’s, instead of doing the right thing and sharing what they knew. Clearly the apple does not fall too far from the tree.
I’m not sure any of this is even close to being true. My first thoughts were it was written and planted and he truly isn’t dead ( I’ve never really adhered to that narrative) if that’s not the case Brian was mentally ill. Such a sad event.

a big commercial bus converted into a family home, named red white and bethune, happened to be driving past, searching for a camping space. they saw the alerts on the news and recognised the van that they had passed and called the police.
they seem to have fallen off the radar but they seem a sweet group according to their you tube channel.

What strikes me is that in his note he says my body will be eaten & carried far from this spot by animals. In Fact body was found 250m from bag. But, of all the bodies thrown to be eaten into the swamps of Florida * that Do NOT get fully devoured or displaced *, he got pretty clairvoyant about his.
Personally, I didn't think I would feel worse about this horrible, tragic murder of a sweet girl after hearing the note, but I do. I definitely feel much worse.

The Moab police video shows Gabby placating the narcissist in her life. She apologized for keeping her van clean because it upset Brian that she was a clean freak. Brian was trouble, and she did her best to take the blame in an attempt to keep the peace. He murdered Gabby in an attempt to control her.

I wonder if the statistics were reversed in that women killed men in the same huge numbers. I think the media would go ballistic as they always blow up women to men murders. Men kill women every day in their rage. I think murder/suicide where the man kills the woman/children then themselves is the upmost of selfishness.

You think during all that time they didn’t stop and think that their son did this? That they supplied him with everything he needed before he left? Don’t you think that’s aiding and abetting?

The letter was written by Roberta Laundrie to Brian offering him money and pleading to help him. It's not a smoking gun but it sure sounds like she knew something. I'm not part of a lynch mob but the Laundrie family have behaved in a way that suggests they had something to hide. The only reason that the Petito/Shmidt families went ahead with the lawsuit which has not yet been approved for trial, is because they claim to have witness testimony, which counts as evidence, that proves that the Laundries knew that he had killed Gabby during that time frame when they released the statement through Bertillino to her family saying they hoped that Gabby would be found when they actually knew she was dead. It is the entire premise for the case.

As everybody, I do not believe even a second that what Brian said was true.
When Gabby and Brian were stopped by the police for reported assault, Brian's narcissism is clearly visible. He is talking and laughing with the police like buddies while Gabby is crying in the police car. But a little later. woman, park ranger or something, talks to Gabby and tells her that perhaps this is a time for Gabby to reevaluate her relationship with Brian among with other advice. I believe that her advice along with the whole police situation opened Gabby's eyes for the reality of her relationship. Most likely the situation was discussed between Gabby and Brian later on and Brian realized he was going to lose her and typical for controlling narcissist he attacked and killed Gabby.
Her rejection could have thrown this narcissist into a rage.

Wouldn't Gabby's "injuries" of been observed and documented in her autopsy? Brian indicates that Gabby sustained injuries severe enough for her to beg him to "end her misery", so that would mean she had serious enough injuries that would be picked up on during the autopsy. I don't remember anything being said about "injuries" other than the manual strangulation/throttling.
Initially not all of the autopsy findings were released. From. What I've heard from "Duty Ron" & a few other sites, Gaby was ferociously beaten. Her severely damaged skull indicates this. I don't know how many other broken bones she had. Clearly her injuries were NOT the result of slip & fall in a creek. Also, there was clear evidence of Gaby being throttled. Her injuries were extreme. 😔

Gabby was inexperienced, in love, and naiive. She wasn't even comfortable driving her own van, as per her own comment after her near arrest. This was a fatal combination with the person she happened to be involved with at the stage of life she was in, ins location far from assistant, and probably not realizing the danger she was in and unable or unwilling to cut brian loose,and leave him there, without telling him, to ensure her own safety , which would be totally justifiable. A truly sad ending to a young life.

Yeah..but if they REALLY want to understand it...forget the lame celebrities and big news stories....they need to talk to every day NPD survivor like me..who then went through an 13 year marriage and then an 8 year custody battle where they are adept at dragging the protective parent through hell....talk to a ton of people like me and sadly we are in the millions and watch every video on Dr. Ramani's RUclips channel..and then you'll get it. That said, no one but us survivors will ever understand or ever "get" the true emo and psychological torture and the nuance of this form of abuse and how you end up with Complex Trauma (CPTSD) for years afterwards and years of healing.
Both came at the right time for me in my healing from narcissist abuse. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. From the moment that I saw my sister in him (I had been in denial about her for years with no memory of her abusing me as a kid) I tried to fix him, even telling him one day that I was concerned that he might be a narcissist. Still, I loved him like I loved my sister. Victims really can be so naïve sometimes.

Gabby was afraid the fire might go out if he left her? Doesn't that indicate her will to live? How could someone possibly believe she asked him to kill her? A natural instinct would be to go for help, in hopes she would recover once care was rendered, but he strangled her?
Of course. This is just one of many inconsistencies in his "story" that have been noted throughout these comments.

It doesn't make ANY sense. A mercy killing ??? Was she a racing horse who just broke its leg ? What does it mean ? She couldn't walk for a few hours so it was time for her to die ? What insanity is this ?
I can't stand this guy truly, his last act was to insult Gabbie's family. Even in death he is hurtful to everyone around him.
