For those wondering why it's in black and white, not trying to be artsy fartsy. The video quality was not good. The lighting was weird and inconsistent, the reds were overblown and the white balance was off. To get the shots to look somewhat cohesive, black and white was the best option. It's what happens when you use consumer grade equipment + lack of experienced crew + we filmed it ourselves.
As a hobbiest photographer who tries not to use a lot of black and white (and unfortunately don't have the money for better cameras with better sensors and better lenses), BNW does an annoyingly good job (when done well) to hide imperfections.
I find it weird seeing him just be a normal human being. You always assume he's this meatclown YEOOWWW personality person all the time? But it really is just playing up the part for streams. He really still is just a regular guy with regular interactions. Seeing him be normal is ironically very un-normal to us because we're used to the vinny vinesauce personality.
I expected a mushroom with headphones on wtf is this I kid, Vin's a nice lookin dude and despite them all being introverts too I'm glad they did this cus it's cool to see their lair of licks
lul, I don't know why but seeing band studios and workplaces always seems so strange and otherworldly no matter the band. Strange unexplained items, decorations, and tastes; traditions, rituals, processes, all somehow personal but also alien. Seeing the T-Rex with human arms, the light strings, skeletons, and the duct taped poster just make the whole place an authentic band area, despite the fact that shouldn't be how that works. Its strangely cool and comforting to see the human touch in people you admire.
You can tell everything in there has a story of how it got there, big or small- and not just put there by a prop department or an interior designer. You can't fake genuineness.
I know a lot of love is thrown around towards Vin and Mike (and for good reason!), but honestly shoutouts to Joe for being a really cool producer. You can tell he's willing to work with Vin and the gang to make the album they hear in their heads, and he's constantly throwing out advice or critique in this footage. The album came out phenomenal and its thanks to guys like him that play more behind the scenes.
I fucking love the part that starts at 7:12 that shows the evolution of The Reason This Is Happening. The second it jumps to the half that's closer to the release version is so satisfying.
i think it's so cute that vinny wears generally tight shirts and cardigans. it gives off the polar opposite vibe than that of his personality does or the way he acts on stream and i love that
this was genuinely really fun to watch. i always hear vinny talk about how "he went to the studio" or how "he goes to the studio to cool off",so "the studio" has always been this mysterious happy place for vinny that really intrigued me. regardless of how good the audio turned out,it was really entertaining to see the process of how you guys work on your music!

It'll be 3 years since this video came out this summer, all I have to say is that I'd be lying if I said this band hasn't had a profound impact on my mental state. This video, despite being very easy to find, still feels like some lost footage band lore type of thing. Regardless, heres to Afterthoughts and the long life of Red Vox.
Growing up with a musician for a parent, studio videos like this make me feel weirdly nostalgic. Spent a lot of time in studios with a similar vibe to this as a kid
This video is oddly uplifting and nostalgic. I guess it's derived from the black and white filter combined with the general style of the studio. I know the filter wasn't meant to be part of the style, but it fit so unbelievably well with the whole aesthetic. I almost feel like I'm reminiscing a memory I never had.
I love how Joe throws out ideas such as adding or taking away effects. He really is a good leader. It's no wonder why these songs sound good the way they do.
I love this so much, I've followed red vox since I was a freshman in high school and now I'm out and working with my dad as a plumber yet your music is still just as good if not better! Keep it up man, you're literally so fuckin good at making these sweet melodies

I like Vincent's simple studio setup that him and his friends built together. I can't name the keyboard that was being played off the top of my head, but I felt the notes captivating my soul. With that said, thank you Red Voc for inspiring me to buy me one of those to add to my own home studio. It's nothing near complete, but that keyboard is perfect.
