I bought my first Heath kit machine in 1965 & A radio shack machine in 1967. All coins back then was silver and a ton of Ring's ECT. I'm 79 years old.

Good video brother. I have a friend, he’s 76, he’s been using and selling whites machines since the late 60s early 70s. His MXT all pro is still his go to machine. He has an outstanding collection for our area from over the decades, extending back to the late 1680’s. His whites machines discovered an early French tradeing post in the midwest. He has never used any other brand ever. Like Tesoro, sad to see them go.

My first White's machine back in 1998 was a IDX PRO. I used that machine for 12 years before i was able to afford a MXT e-series. By then they had come out with the MXT PRO machine. I purchased the e-series and the 10x12 FEF coil. I used that coil and then i purchased my 4x6 shooter DD coil. I found my first beautiful class ring by a basketball court with my 4x6 coil. That 4x6 was a deadly coil. Thank you White's for giving me such a wonderful start to my metal detecting journey. 😊

I have more older Whites machines just didn't have time to drag them all out. Those ol' timers wrecked shop in the 80's with those heavy big boxes. The Eagle spectrum still works great but is so heavy I could only swing for a couple hours and I am done for the day.

When I was 5 I had a cheap Radio Shack detector, and found junk. Around 3rd grade the school bus would pass Geoquest Metal Detectors in N.j., and I promised myself to get a good detector there someday. That someday turned into a Whites Spectrum XLT. For over 25 years it more than paid for itself. Sad to see Whites go.

Nice collection there! But you didn't have my machine. I have a White's Spectrum XLT that I bought brand new back in 1996 when I was 24 years old. That thing cost a hefty penny back then! I only used it off and on until 1998 or 1999 I was the youngest hobbyist walking down at the beach back then. It has been stored and not powered up until yesterday, (June 7, 2022) I honestly forgot how to use it since it's been so long. The box looks pristine as it's covered in a fabric protector. I also have the White's Bullseye pointer. OK< believe it or not the 9V battery from the late 1990's still works! I kid not. Faintly but it does. I don't know how that's even possible. And no kidding about that connector! 1:54 Wow! It would be at home connecting into a multiple amp circuit. And just a few days ago I found out that White's Electronics is no more. The archrival company from Texas bought them.

  • @digginggopher

You should have mentioned what the trigger do on the MXT because i have no idea lol
In 2012 i had a shitty detector, like amazon soecials of today, didnt even know how to use it not sure if it had discrimination or not, id love to find it if its still kicking around in the garage, only took it to the beach once, i found 75 cents only, took it on my property and trails around me just found iron tractor parts and a log splitter, didnt catch the bug
Maybe 2021 i started getting into coin collecting and coin roll hunting, in 2023 i was seeing old silvers people were finding with detectors, so i talked to someone about which detectors were good
He basically said the vanquish or the simplex plus, so i got the simplex, it arrived late march or early april 2023, and thats when i caught the detecting bug

I don’t think this is over for whites electronics personally I almost think (not as an expert) that whites might soon be brought to you by first Texas products (total speculation) I personally think that some of there most advanced models vx3 and v3i for instance were actually too advanced for the majority of users the detectors were aimed at during the era they were released and that was back then and then the Mx sport cracked screen water leak issues all companies have had there hallmark flops but some of there models will go down as units that set the industry standard in not only performance but by far durability father in law has a mxt all pro finds silver all the time and a 1793 copper cent
