Did you ever fix it? I hunted with one of those machines for years. One of the best machines ever made in my opinion. Whites does not make a replacement screen anymore for the XLT . I heard there was a way to put a screen from a newer model DFX in the XLT. Call Whites electronics customer service they are great people. Very helpful. I would like to know how it goes with the repair. Just seeing that machine brought back so many good memories. Oh and BTW when I bought that machine new in the mid 90s it cost me around 800 dollars!!! And you find one in a dumpster. YOUR KILLING ME! lolololol
Hi- sorry i haven't replied i have bin busy but thank's for the info greatly appreciated .Look for part 2 in about 2 weeks and it still work's good, detects fine just no display . Once again thank's i'm glad to see some still care's about repairing and not tossing away.
Edmer's Top Shop oh no problem at all. The really funny thing is I’m getting my actual old machine back this weekend from the guy who bought it from me several years ago. He bought the newer DFX because the display quit working on the XLT. What a coincident in the timing of this. I did call Whites and they no longer make the display for the XLT but the display from the newer DFX machine will work in the XLT. To get it to work a resistor needs to be replaced on the main board. That’s not really a big deal if you can do a little bit of soldering. The replacement display cost about 75 dollars. You could have it fixed by Whites for about 150. While they have the machine they always fully test them and calibrate it if needed. You could have it fixed by them then sell it and make a good profit. I would like to have it myself!
Yes it will still work without a display but you are only using about 10% of the machines capabilities if the display is not working. With a display and the information it gives you about a target you can get a good idea what you are digging before you actually dig it up. If you are coin hunting and using the built in coin program you can tell if it’s a nickel penny dime or quarter around 90% of the time. Then if you pull the trigger under the display it will pinpoint the target and tell you how deep it is. It’s really an awesome machine. To use it without a display would be like putting a lawn mower engine in a Ferrari. LOL If I can help you anymore with it comment or email me bowser87@gmail.com

What's the exact website to order the defective LCD display sir. Thanks in advance if you can assist me in ordering my defective parts thru whites electronics.
I just fixed mine with the same problem.
Contact White's and they will sell you a new display and driver board for $45.
