Marvel has pretty much turned the X-Men into monsters from the sound of things.

The universe where Spiderman is a mutant you're thinking of is probably the House of M universe where he pretends to be a mutant.

I haven't kept up with modern X men. But just looking from the outside in, nothing that current year Marvel is doing with X Men makes any sense to me. Modern writers seem to just fly with whatever random BS comes to mind without any real thought put into it

Excellent breakdown of the problems with the Crackoa Era. I feel like Hickman started all this to "set up" the X-desk becaus he hated them. He came up with the most outlandish and hard to follow story he knew his fellow writers like Jerry Duggan and Vita Ayala couldn't handle. And then he bounced and watched them drown.

To answer why Sinister was on Krakoa: when Charles and Magnus were planning for Krakoa, they were sourcing resources from people (like Forge for the technology of storing and updating mutant memories in Cerebro). Sinister’s job was DNA collection and storage because that was Sinister’s specialty. He was allowed on Krakoa while being mutant only because one of the clones (who became the main Sinister) had John Proudstar DNA baked in. To add-on the resurrection protocols, Hickman actually said he left room for exploration about how do you solve things like Wolverine’s metal skeleton or why Cyclops still needs the visor when they can remove the head trauma that caused it in the first place. Ben Percy did answer Wolverine with they do have to do the adamantium process every time. Ouch. Finally, on Colossus, to my knowledge has always been an atheist. Claremont touted the diversity of his team with Catholic Nightcrawler on one side and atheist Colssus on the other. On the point of Colussus killing people, the only time I know of was she he killed one of the Mauraders during the Mutant Massacre because he was in a Zack Snyder General Zod situation.

I hear the X men are getting some reboot recently. Personally i liked the 2000s series growing up, bux all other Xmen media i saw seemed to be 'reality tv oppression romance with super powers". Personally im a Iron Man & Ghost Rider guy, so its always been weird just how......underutilized Marvel makes so much of there cast.

Honestly Marvel as a whole is in much more need of a reboot than when DC Comics had theirs

Krakoa was a huge mistake. The X-Men become arrogants segregacionists jerks. No way characters like Storm or Nightcrawler would be aboard in this shit. Fall Of X turned all them in relentless killers. It's very disturbing to see Kitty Pryde,Colossus and Nightcrawler killing people without restrant or guilty. How these characters can be heroes again? How they can come back from this? Krakoa Era ruined the franchise to me.Forever.

My problem with the latest X-Men comics, especially the Crackoa Era, is that they aren't heroes anymore. They aren't. They are selfish, cruel, and hedonistic. They have 0 consequences for their actions and even conquered death. Why continue reading when they even put all kf the villains on the team too? Tell me how they represent oppressed people?

My basis opinion of Hickman is he is competent but boring and writes every comic almost exactly the same (and the data page schtick is one of the worst things ever.)

Good thing I’ve not kept up with major label comics for years now. I’ve heard just how stupid storylines have gotten from both DC and Marvel camps. Sad to see things go stupid like they have, but not surprising at the same time.

Just so everybody knows everything written by Gillan and Ewing has been great and that’s where all the important stuff has been going on. Dugan should have never gotten the chance to write the main X book, that’s where they fucked up.

    Couple of things,
Quick Silver and Wanda still aren't Magneto's children nor mutants, unless Marvel recently retconned that retcon after purchasing Fox. While I like the idea of Apocalypse making a clone X-man into one of the horseman, the story prior to Krakoa was Age of X-man, I doubt they want to revisit X-man too soon.

You realise X-Men ended around the 80’s? Magneto took over the X-Men? Xavier was gone? Everything since has been filler/fan fiction. There’s no end to the story. Characters can’t really progress. Everything reverts back to the start. Eventually.

Hickman Avengers/New Avengers is ok. Doesn't hold a candle to Avengers Disassembled up til Siege (a period when Brian Bendis was really good and not the terrible writer he is now.) That was the most exciting period for the Avengers to me. I also thought the core New Avengers/Infinity etc was borderline plagiarism of Crisis on Infinite Earths but not awesome.
I DID like Hox/Pox but it would only work as a brief "what if Xavier broke bread with Magneto, Sinister, and Apocalypse and the X-Men were evil" and quickly use the Moira reset plot device because it was a TERRIBLE status quo for a group of heroes.
