Great Crested Grebes - Courtship Dance (Weed dance)

The courtship dance of the Great Crested Grebe is one of the most beautiful in the world of birds. During the courtship period, when the pair of the grebes are in the water, facing each other, they shake their heads from side to side and then dive to the bottom of the lake to collect weeds, come out of the water and swim towards each other and then this beautiful thing happens - the courtship dance, like what appears to be floating in the air of both of them. Great Crested Grebes are such elegant birds. You were so lucky to be there at just the right time. I saw a courting pair years ago, just starting to do the head movements, but when I tried to film them on my phone, even with zoom, they looked like tiny dots in the distance. Thanks for filming this, it's so wonderful to see the whole dance in detail.
