    1. Don't read whole text
    2. look for synonyms, ideas
    3. matching synonyms and ideas alone doesn't mean heading is right one
    4. move on don't waste time if you aren't sure
    5. answer all questions even guessing works sometimes.
    thanks teacher.

    Hello, Martin! My name is Antonio. I have an important question in terms of the Reading section of the IELTS...Since I've started preparing for my exam, which is after 10 days, I've been wondering is there any pattern of how to do the reading passage. And more specificly, are there any question types that have to be regarded before I start reading and another ones which have to be checked after I scan the passage. Thanks in advance, Antonio.

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1
      @Oxfordonlineenglish1  6 лет назад

      Hi Anal, it depends on the section of the reading exam. For example, different types of questions could require you to find the answer differently. We have another lesson to help you with some IELTS Reading questions: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/ielts-reading-exam-tfng-ynng-questions.

    Thank u for such an enlightening video..! I have got few questions, please:
    May I ask about the techniques used in matching the central idea inside each paragraph with three to four choices given in each of the relative question?
    Secondly, What would be the best technique of finding out what the entire passage is actually about? This normally comes as question no. 40 in academic reading passage.
    Lastly, What other techniques can be applied while going about solving other question types in academic reading?

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1
      @Oxfordonlineenglish1  7 лет назад

      Hi Nida, there are a few other matching headings techniques and reading exam tips in general, and we will try to make some videos about them here soon. Finding out the main idea of a passage can normally be from looking at the first or last sentence of the first paragraph. You can also check in the last paragraph to confirm your findings. I recommend taking a few lessons with a teacher who can give you many specific tips and examples for IELTS. We have a few good ones who would be happy to help if you want to give it a try! www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/about-our-online-english-teachers

    But in the real IELTS test we have more headings than the video shows, should we still read each heading before we start reading the text? I have watched some other courses which told me put heading questions at the end of that test. Since you have finished other questions, you are familiar with the passage. I just got confused about how should I do is the best way to help me answer reading questions especially those questions contain matching. Should I answer that test’s questions in order, or put matching questions at last?

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1

      Personally, I'd suggest that you read the questions first, so that you have an idea of what information you're looking for in the text. However, as you correctly point out, different people prefer different strategies, and the best way is whatever works for you.

    it should be helpful to me. I think we need more practice after that we will able to tell you about these techniques. But I like your way of teaching I hope it would be worth it. I am very weak in reading firstly I take too much time to find answers, secondly in the end i get low marks . Sir I don't know what issues I am facing either I have understanding problem or something else such as taking too much time to understand or some time read whole para again and again . I don't know exactly what is problem. I have followed these kind of advice but I didn't read heading first. please guide me I don't know how can I describe my mistakes or problems. some time I think might be it caused by grammar or not enough reading skills. please advice your remarks are very valuable for me thanks

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1

    Hi. Thanks, Your video is very explanatory but what do you do when the sentences are very short and don't say much cos sometimes when I practice the first, second and even last sentences could contain just about 4 to 5 words which won't say much. Please reply
