Man I just wanted to thank you for this video. My wife’s 2016 SX had this happen today and her car was in a parking garage. I thought it was the car battery, replaced it and no start. I knew a tow truck couldn’t get in there. Came across this video and after a few tries it worked. Thanks again and all the best to you and yours.
I’m having the same problem with my 2016 Sorento SX, been happening since September and I replaced battery, then it started again. I replaced alternator it happened again. I finally seen this hack to get it started but now it’s no longer working. What eventually was your outcome?
Oh man you save me a tow… I just got this 2017 Kia, the battery in the car died and so I RUclipsd what to do thank you thank you thank you I just started it
Just had this happen a few days ago on my 2018 Sportage and it turned out to be a completely dead vehicle battery, not the remote's battery. The vehicle battery is now 5 yrs-3months old (my ownership) + however long it's been in the vehicle since it was assembled!
I just want to say thanks for the video. This worked this morning at Walmart. However, it didn't work this afternoon at home. Gonna try to troubleshoot and find out the cause.👍
Does this apply to a 2020 Kia Sedona? I can’t get it started as of 2 days ago. Can’t push the brake down because it’s so stiff. It has power but still won’t start. I’ve tried your advice in the video but to no avail. 🤦
I was listening to the radio with the car off. Then the radio and everything on the dash went out. I had just went for a drive ,and the car was running fine. It had only been ten minutes so I know my battery isnt dead. At first it was saying no key detected. I went got my spare and it said the same thing. The dash is blinking on and off, then the radio came on but the car wont start.
My Kia sportage did the same thing. It just started flashing all the lights on the dash board and wigging out really bad. It won’t start.. still.. it’s been a week. No car. Any suggestions???
On todays vehicles that uses module to module communication to start the vehicle, throwing a starter at a vehicle based on a symptom is not the way to go.
Hi, thanks. I got the message for key not detected but when I put key against and pushed the start button nothing happened. I did get the immobiliser orange light though. It’s a Kia ceed 2021 phev. Driving me bananas! Worst part was I got battery key low message before I took it out in the morning. I tried a new battery but no good. Help!
it is not sensing the key, if the immo light flashes that means that the vehicle is not seeing the key and will not start the vehicle or light up the dash.
a scan will probably indicate an issue with the mdps(motor driven power steering system) that should lead you in the right direction. test don't guess thanks for watching
Was the first scenario just due to a dead battery in the remote? For the second scenario isn't that something you'd need to take your car into the garage for to check it out further since that shouldn't happen?

That would cause a vehicle not to start. Here in montreal-3-5 years is the max on kia batteries.

So when I do that it still doesn’t work the dash lights will fade but not start

Mine does the same but when I hold the push/start button for 10 seconds it’s makes a clicking sound.
The first scenario was may problem. Thanks.

are you sure its not a battery or charging issue. might also be a antenna issue in the vehicle. but iam just specualting at this time.
Did you end up solving the issue i have the same thing
The same thing happened to me did you end up fixing your problem?
My Kia sportage did the same thing. It just started flashing all the lights on the dash board and wigging out really bad. It won’t start.. still.. it’s been a week. No car. Any suggestions???
Any resolution to this issue in the end?
This happened to my Kia Optima 2019
The button turns on the radio but the brake pad is locked
What was the fix?
Thank you sooooooo much now I can go on my day❤
nice tip loads of Kia and Hyundai hear In Ireland now also
Thanks ian..
Great video! My issue with my 2020 Kia forte GT line my brake paddle isn’t going down and it’s not allowing me to push start ?
that seems a little odd, I would scan for DTC's then continue from there,
Have you figured it out yet? Having that same issue with my gt
Bad starter bottom need to replace as soon as possible

I tried both key fobs
What if you don’t have a message at all?
if there is no message then it probably is seeing the key but still not starting
What about the steering wheel warning light dose that mean that steering lock mechanism is fucked?
no on these vehicles that means that there is an issue with the eps system
Will this work for an hybrid?
if its a kia push start yes..
Car starts but steering wheel stays locked and dash light stays on. Stop and restart once or twice then works normally. Any idea what he problem is?

Yes and yes. But at least trying these will let you get home or to the shop without the added cost of a tow.
MY COW!! WHY WOULD'T U DEMOSTRATE THE SHIFT UN-LOCK PROCEDURE? WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is that?
