Many carmakers are concentrating on crossovers......Buick Ford Mitsubishi......people want an SUV that rides nice and saves gas......a well built crossover can do both......as much as I like a hatch or a nice wagon......choices are getting fewer......
Right now the European's got the best wagon and hatch's......would love to have a BMW wagon......

Nope. The F-150 is doing just fine.
Your F-150 will never be as fun to drive as a Focus RS or Evo, no matter how much you mod it. They're good trucks, but they don't capture the attention of the youth and draw global attention to the brand like a badass sports car does (and no, the Mustang doesn't count - that's more like a global punchline).
I daily an Evo. Who needs luxury when you can have speed and handling for less price. My Evo cost less than the price of a body kit for a Gallardo, but oughta be able to keep up with a Gallardo on the track, it's more than enough fun for driving around town, and it's a rare enough car (at least where I live) that it still gets people excited.
they didn't kill it they just stopped selling them in the US.. we'll still get a new one over in EU in a few years.. It's a european car anyway..

A 350 horsepower 2.3... That's nuts. Hell, v8 Mustangs in the 90s only made 225 if I remember. Technology is amazing.

@@bonk4017 Not exactly the same. Same base engine, but a few of the components are different, which should be obvious given it makes 350hp in the RS and 315 in the Mustang. I don't see why that's "too bad" either, doesn't counteract Right Coast's point that the power we can get out of 4 cylinders is quite impressive these days.

Is Subaru really discontinuing the WRX, or are you just lamenting the loss of the "Impreza" badge on the WRX?
Also, the Nissan Skyline didn't die off entirely. It just became a luxury sport sedan under the Infiniti brand. The Infiniti Q50 is sold in Japan as the Infiniti Skyline.
You're leaving out the Nissan Silvia, Honda/Acura NSX (the REAL NSX, not this hybrid shit we got instead), Mitsubishi Eclipse (again, REAL Eclipse), and Lancia cars as a whole.

blame old fucks and normal people only wanting crossovers because they think since it LOOKS like an SUV, it must have SUV handling in snow and rain, which is hilarious since a lot of them are 2wd to the front. They're literally just hatchbacks with a lift kit and they've ruined the US car market for sedans outside of a few economy cars and luxury sedans. People who literally don't even haul anything or need to do anything involving space buy a crossover just because everyone else has one and "they seem safer".

Gotta say, I absolutely love my 18 RS. I test drove the STi, and Civic type R and the Golf R. The Focus RS was the one that put a smile on my face though, and has the edge for being bad ass. Living in New England, the heated steering wheel and AWD (with winters) is great. The 18 Golf R doesn't have heated steering wheel. In a country fast losing its hot hatches, I was stoked to get the RS.

my next door neighbors have a Chevy Tahoe with 3 rows of seats when they only have 1 kid,
SUV’s and Trucks have dominated the US car market and people think hatchbacks are a teenager/ young adult car because you can get some so cheap

Focus Active. It's a crossover to fight the CrossTrek. And Ford is saying as of today, they may not bring it in due to tariff's on China. I wouldn't call it a "car."

@@bamphmx-5548 Europe doesn't have economic sanctions in place with China, though. United States does due to intellectual property theft. Take a look at the Chinese markets "Authentic" car brands. You'll see why almost everyone hates them.

So glad I picked one of these up back in July. I got a pretty sweet deal on a 2017 as a Certified Pre-Owned with a solid warranty and it was one that was completely re-engined after the head gasket recall, so when I got it, there were only ~10k miles on the engine. I've occasionally looked for more certified pre-owned RS's the last couple months and every single one I've seen was at least $3k more and the one I got is an RS2.
Yea, the 41k is a bit high. The dealers add in everything else. I saw one at a Ford dealer in Phx Az, for 52k... I could see the 41k, then to add another 11k to the price. No thank you.

The dealer I got mine from had them starting at $36,900. Didn't have nav or heated seats but it'll get the job done

As a guy who owns a 2017 model RS I can tell you it's very fun to drive. However I don't like how basic the interior is. It looks like a regular focus on the inside which is a huge negative.
They are stoping production of ever car other than the mustang is because no one is buying them as much as Fords trucks and SUVs so why make them if pretty much no one is buying them

there really isnt a whole lot on the focus, its the successor to the ford escort, and for the most part, is an economy car (minus the ST and RS)

I must admit the focus RS did redefine the hot hatch.
RWD and AWD with an lsd on both ends in some models, and being able to shunt the power to the rear on demand.
As well as no turbo lag.
I think it will be a classic collectable in future years.

As much as I have a love/hate relationship with my '13 Focus SE (waiting for the fixed transmission to die), I'm pretty sad Ford cut off production of these in the US.

The success of the Focus over the Golf and Clio in the U.K. would suggest that most Brits disagree with us as well. And as cars like the CX3 have shown, it's about the h-point relative to the floor, not the ground.

The only good thing about that car is the engine, which is made by Volvo. The Mk3 was a joke, blew up in a couple thousand KM due to bad head gaskets.

nboy7 you are completely uneducated on the head gasket problem. It was never “bad head gaskets” it was the EcoBoost mustang head gasket accidentally put on the RS. Ford recalled them

To be honest even though I love the Civic Type R, I have to say the Focus RS is one of the greatest hatchbacks especially a tribute to the Escort Cosworth

Ford almost went back to Cosworth twice for the first 2 generations. First one fell through because they thought the market wasnt big enough, and the second one as Ford could use Volvo's 5 cylinder. There is pictures of a 2.0 4cyl 4WD MK1 Focus RS somewhere about, but it never materialised unfortunately

Bought one recently a 2018 wanted one ever since they first came out in 16 here in Michigan it's the best daily driver you could ever ask for so much for good gas mileage and I can't even begin to explain how well it does in snow

@@socks612 depends on where you live too. Here in P.R. with dumb us laws allowing us to only receive said items from US boats inflates the price by a lot.
A brand new car is usually 10k-12k (that's assuming the dealerships don't rack up the price even further) more than it is in U.S.
First new Supras to arrive here where around 90k-100k with absolutely no need to be that high. But dealerships know how much ppl love Toyota here and sold it anyways st that price.
Nobody talks about the dang headlights!!! They freaking turn around bends! Turn the steering wheel... at night. The lights turn in your direction. My favorite thing to show my wife... she throws up occasionally but it’s still the coolest secret feature.

I am pretty sure, that it will still be possible to import the new ST and RS , once they arrive on the european market.
The ST is coming you this year, and while it is still speculation, a new RS should arrive sometime in 2020.
Not for another 25 years. We are still waiting for the mk1 FoRS from '02 to be legal. God I wish I lived in Europe
For a guy who drives in a group with 2 2017 RS and a 2018 RS, this video hit most of the pros and cons to the car. Up here in the great white north, there aren't too many good options outside of the Evo and Sti so the RS was a nice sight for the rulers of the snow.

Here on Maui the only ford dealership on island had a $15,000 mark up on the RS.
I loved the car and considered buying it over my ‘18 STI but the huge dealer mark up killed it for me, and the fact that it’s a $55k “Focus” killed it for my boss -erm.. -my wife I mean. Love you guys

Added to that the tariffs. The Focus and Fiesta are made in Germany now and shipping them over would make them too expensive to compete. Which is a shame. This year I am driving a new Fiesta and i have already ordered the new Focus for next year. They are 10/10 cars for me (in their class of course...)

Its a good engine but ford refined it much better as the fuel pump can actually keep up with the engine and the turbo wont shit its pants with the power

Due i just found this as im headed to check a trade in on an RS from my st, he’s totally right on being functional as a daily, i took my seats out and stripped the rear to fit my mountain bikes as hitch racks suckkkk on these cars and didnt want a roof rack on track days, i can fit two full size enduro bikes in the back and have liftoff oversteer now. Performance focuses allll day

You can argue that the r line has not died, though its altered from r32 to the r series
They’re continuing the focus and there will prob be another RS model coming
But no for the USA
But knowing ford, they’ll do the same thing that Chevy did with the Cruze and Malibu, only be an appearance package and not make it sporty at all and wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t come in a manual

Matt Holmes ok I think I have to explain something. The Focus is a product of „Ford of Europe“. The RS in the Video is the 3th generation of the RS and the first one sold in North America. They’re all imported from Germany. In Europe, we now have the 4th gen of Focus and of course there will be a RS too. Before they called it „Focus“ in the late 90s, it was the „Escort“, of which some RS and Cosworth version were available.
A lot of modern Fords have their roots in Europe. One of the reasons they're(or they were) the best domestic make.
I just got one.. it's a pre owned 34k on it, traded my ST in for it I'm taking delivery Monday. I've been watching every Focus RS vid on youtube, I loved my ST but damnnn

One important thing to ask about - is it available with a manual transmission, or is it only automatic like most other cars in the US? I know automatics probably perform better than manuals these days, but they'll never be as much fun. I would assume that it would be manual, but never saw him shift and he never mentioned that either way.
Yes, the RS in the video is a manual (2:08 you can see the shifter). Also, most of these I’ve seen for sale are manuals/“fully optioned out”.

In my experience Renault are utter shit - their electrics always fail because the cunts at the Friday afternoon factory don't bother greasing the connectors (or Renault actually decided to skip this important assembly measure). The same French cunts can't be bothered sealing the doors and so the inside door pockets fill up with water.
I've never had an electrical connection problem with a Ford. I may have very rare electrical problems, like with a door motor, but it wasn't down to some lazy cunt on the assembly line not bothering with greasing the interconnects which is always a disaster waiting to happen.

They are now making the mk4 Focus and will inevitably make an RS version towards the end of it's lifecycle......just not for the U.S market.

6:26 if you look closely on the right side of the intercooler, there is a square patch stuck on there by Ford to REDUCE the cooling efficiency of the intercooler. This is because the intercooler works too well in countries with colder weather and causes the pressurized air from the turbo to condense. This isn't a problem in countries with warmer climates so feel free to pull the square patch off for a tiny bit more power :)

Was told by a Ford guy the UK are getting a 400 BHP RS Focus this year which is a hybrid, Mountune will probably have a kit for it that will have it pushing crazy numbers within a couple of weeks because that's what they do, best.

It’s hilarious to see what you would say is a typical American car (charger camero mustang on the track) I wear my headlights out trying to get them to move cause they make great roadblocks. I am fully aware who designed this RS and so are the muscle car guys. They usually don’t come back to the track.

Most people bashing the RS has never owned, much less driven one. I have owned two, a 2017 and 2018 RS. I sold my first one and was going to buy an STI (I was a Japanese fanboy) but after the test drive, there was no way I would settle for one. I bought a 2018 RS instead. Just got the Mountune B1 package and noticed a stronger pull all the way through the RPMs.
