Suggestion, when you play sound off the laptop for the viewer, mute the background music of the video. :) Why don't you use the GPU for the encoding jobs? It will be MUCH faster.
I noticed that I didn't mute the background music a little while after uploading :( As for not using the GPU, I wasn't aware I could adjust settings in Handbrake at the time. So I focused on the CPU performance.

If u want full-fat performance machine then go for P53, small+upgradability then choose t480, if u want a laptop with big screen (bcs u not gonna take it outside) then go for p70, for me just dont choose S version of P seris bcs it not worth the money :))

The benefit of an 8th gen 6 core 12 thread Xeon, i7, and i9 paired with a 4GB GDDR5 GPU outweighs the 8th gen 4 core 8 thread i5 or i7 and 2GB GDDR5 GPU. The P52s is like a larger version of my T480s (with one extra battery as you noted) that I can use day to day for general tasks and the P52 is something I could use for editing, rendering and encoding video, and gaming. Note that used lithium ion batteries are not guaranteed to have the advertised Wh, as they would new.

I'm hoping you jotted down the part number for the audio jack. Mine suddenly stopped recognizing my headset mic, although the headphones still work. I tried reinstalling the drivers but that didn't help. The headset works on other machines.
That would be a soldered connection to the motherboard, so you would have to find someone who is skilled at board repair if that turns out to be the problem. Unfortunately not something you can easily replace. But, perhaps if it doesn't solve itself you could always use bluetooth or USB powered headphones/mic/
What do you think about E15 gen 2 AMD 4650U pro. Is it worth it? I use it basically and play some popular online games that are not too heavy on graphics

Hey, nice video. Have same specs, except with 16gb ram and Dell precision 7510. Have terrible experience with gaming (GTA v at 19- 22 fps). When using MSI afterburner it shows CPU speed at 801 mhz, as opposed to your on 3200+ mhz, though all the individual CPUs (1 to 8) also at 801 mhz, any help pld

If you get a P50 with one of the 4GB dedicated NVIDIA Quadro GPU's you might be better off using that as investing in a graphics card, power supply, and enclosure is quite the investment on top of the laptop. However, if it's just for fun or experimentation and you have the money, I would explore the NVIDIA GTX 10 series or even up to am RTX 2060 Super.
Workstations are hard to come by . I have seen some reddit posts about newer ryzen thinkpads at the same rate as t480 s I will have to wait a couple of years for them to move from organisations to used market.

for Handbreak you can configure since Quadro have dedicated NVENC and NVDEC, it'll perform better for rendering

My P50 has the Core i& 6700HQ and the M100M with 2GB RAM. It's never been able to run Fortnite at any quality setting. Runs TF2 okay, though.

If you go into the monitoring tab in Afterburner, you can select CPU speed, temp etc, instead of CPU1 or CPU2, etc

I believe so. You MIGHT have to have the laptop powered off while charging the battery, but I am not sure. I think you will be ok.
