The bass player for this band might just be my favorite of all time. She's incredible. Just dancing away like she's not even thinking about what to play, and never misses a SINGLE NOTE. Not one.. and get this shit, ya'll. There's no frets on that bass. She doesn't even look. Just dancing away, singing, nailing note for note on a fretless bass. I don't think enough people realize how incredibly fucking impossible that is.
Rachels Voice is so soulful. And their way of playing together works so well, so many feelings comes across and touch me right where I want to be touched
Just saw them in San Diego and they killed it. It's so refreshing to see a band of 4 great musicians up on stage just playing...together and tight. No gimmicks. And EVERYONE sings.
I love how they are all so unpretentious.. It's all about the music and comes from the joy of making it, and making it together. 4 friends who have been working at this for 7 years. It's their time now.
Simply amazing. Her voice is so soulful, the way she's mastered even the smallest nuances of soul singers from the 60's/Motown era. And the harmonies are spot on along with the musicality of the band in all!
I love this music. It sounds like "real music" not like the garbage which seems to be so popular. Thank you Lake Street Dive for bringing the sound of "quality" back to music!
This music makes me very happy to be a performing artist for most of my life, what makes success these days has frustrated me to no end,and now my faith in that has been restored. Thanks to the honest talent, chemistry and doing the road time, I look forward to seeing this group reset the industry back to reality! Please don't stop!
I saw them for the first time the other night on the Colbert Report. You know they're good when you remember to look them up days after first hearing them. They've definitely planted a seed.
the vocal performance and band are very original. every musician is influenced by many peers, but find their own sound. i take objection to new performers always being compared to others. enjoy them.
This one of the best bands I've heard in a long time! They are all great, the lead vocals are just plain amazing!! Hope they come to Indy, won't miss them if they do!
As a new Lake Street Dive aficionado, I too appreciate Rachel Price's amazing voice and style and stage presence, but the other individuals on this band are so MUCH more than backing musicians. Sure, it's easy to focus on the lead vocals, but damn, there's so much going on the rest of the stage.
This is really the best new band I've heard in a looong time! Such a great combination of talent, fun, musicianship, tight vocal harmonies. Rachael sounds to me like a mix of Carole King, Bonnie Raitt and Amy Winehouse. I hope they will come to Germany one time.
Thank you N.P.R. for getting me hip to this amazing band. So refreshing soulful, organic, and heart felt music! If this kinda stuff could be the next trend in modern music I might actually listen to a radio station that isn't NPR
Quite possibly the freshest and tightest group of musicians that I have heard in a long time. I was excited to see they are hitting SF in March and it is already sold out!!
You're right. First unintentionally raspy notes I've ever heard from Rachael. They cancelled another radio appearance around the same time this one was recorded to give her some vocal rest. These guys are real road warriors and are on the road performing constantly. It's amazing they are as great & consistent as they are.
I saw somewhere that they did 200+ gigs last year after doing 30 the year before. I really wonder how she must keep her instrument in shape. She really really puts it out there and takes it to places not many singers can.
She's been singing since she's been like 8 or something. Probably knows some techniques to help lessen the vocal stress (though, that can only help so much).
that performance of just ask was unbelievable.... how they can just go from casual conversation to that is just astounding. 22:30 drummer drops his drumstick

Everyone in this band is amazing. But that bass player has got some extra amazingness going on. Love you all!
Amen to that, sir. The bass player is a standout for sure.
Couldn't agree more.
She writes most of the songs I like with them, including "Better Than".
Just saw them in San Diego and they killed it. It's so refreshing to see a band of 4 great musicians up on stage just playing...together and tight. No gimmicks. And EVERYONE sings.
man, I love her voice
so silky rich
Talk about a singer, the tone on that girl! Great band all around, Big fan!!
sounds like Bob Marley :D
I'd like to see her do a duet with Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes.
Jeanette Lynne, I agree completely. Rachael Howard is one incredible woman. The rest of the band's not too shabby either.
+Donald Austin Rachael does several duets with other touring acts and at festival shows...Mavis Staples, Grace Potter among many...
Here's a great band you may not have heard of . Both their albums are well worth a listen
Love this woman's voice
Bridget! Dear god. Talent.
I love how they are all so unpretentious.. It's all about the music and comes from the joy of making it, and making it together. 4 friends who have been working at this for 7 years. It's their time now.
This is so tight and loosey-goosey at the same time.
love this bass player
Rachael Price has the kind of voice that will stop you in your tracks!
Lake Street Dive is easily one of the best bands out there right now. Thanks for putting this up, KEXP.

@@chrisbriggs5818 isn't she intoxicating?!
That bluesy, jazzy, acoustic soul feeling that their songs give are just beyond compare! I absolutely love them
Simply amazing. Her voice is so soulful, the way she's mastered even the smallest nuances of soul singers from the 60's/Motown era. And the harmonies are spot on along with the musicality of the band in all!

Love these guys. I haven't heard all this stuff before. Best. Morning. Ever.
I saw them for the first time the other night on the Colbert Report. You know they're good when you remember to look them up days after first hearing them. They've definitely planted a seed.
Somebody figured the harmonies are what made the Beatles so great. LSD has got it. Love these folks.
I guess I found out about this group later than most, but I was an immediate fan, and shall remain one.
Extremely talented musicians! opened the show for Grace Potter in Nashville, was a pleasant surprise. Awesome show!
God bless KEXP for introducing beautiful music !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's about 4 minutes I've discovered this band, it's enough time to let me tell I ADORE THEM

Damn, Rachael. What a woman! LSD, Amazing as always.

Quite possibly the freshest and tightest group of musicians that I have heard in a long time. I was excited to see they are hitting SF in March and it is already sold out!!
Old and new, tradition and daring. Knowing the classics, but not being afraid to take a risk. This is absolutely fantastic stuff.

Fantastic! High quality music. I'll always hear and touch.
They blow my mind. The way they play together is magical!
Never heard of this band until today, by chance. Really like them! So glad I kinda happened upon them by chance =>
Yaaaa so glad these guys are FINALLY getting the recognition they've deserved since 2010!
That voice at 15:00. Holy shitballs. Sultry, smooth, and all sorts of other cliche'd terms which actually apply here.
Great, great band!!! She, the vocal, is a shine woman!!!
They are amazing. Wonderful! Fantastic!!
I'm a HUGE Fan….

Saw them in T-Bone Burnette's movie Another Day, Another Time and was knocked out. Four supremely talented musicians/songwriters. Just plain fun.

it was great to hear it,that's whats i am talking about!
Great harmonies!
A woman couldnt be more beautiful than this woman. Wow. I'm hooked...
She reminds me of a young Bonnie Raitt. Was lucky enough to hear her in Her early days, good company I wold say!!!!
One of the most captivating voices of any time coupled with three other out there players, these folks give you a musical treat that endures!
This performance is fantastic
