  • Advertisement of Nintendo officially coming to Brazil in 1995, by the joint venture Playtronic.
NES, SNES and Virtual Boy were produced in Manaus. Playtronic was a jv of Estrela, then biggest brazilian toy producer, and Gradient, from electronic segment. Later, Gradient was the only Nintendo representative, until the japanese company left the country. Many years later, Playtronic trademark was reactivated by an individual entrepreneur who produced Android games, but later cancelled.

For context, back then it was cheaper and easier to find consoles in the gray market than regular retail stores (not that it has improved a lot for the last 28 years).
This commercial was made to advertise the first authorized Nintendo reseller in Brazil (Playtronic).
The commercial also makes a pun with the Portuguese word “legal” which means both “cool” and “legal”.
    Here’s a translation:
    Now, it’s official.
This guy offers you a Super Nintendo with a one-year warranty, technical assistance, and it’s also in the Brazilian TV color standard (PAL-M).
Now, everyone will consider this guy cool/will find this guy legally. Ask for the legal/cool Nintendo Playtronic.
