Welcome back to our garden studio! Tonight I am doing a mini collaboration with my friends Lee and Jeremy Masse from @MasseArtStudio . Last week they did a Dustpan pour and a flip cup on a gigantic 36x36 inch gallery wrapped canvas, and it looked like a lot of fun and I wanted to give it a try. We decided to do a mini collab together, celebrating a pour from the other that really inspired us. Lee and Jeremy each picked out one of my pours that they were inspired by and recreated them in their video yesterday.

Tonight I am pouring on a 36x36 inch gallery wrapped canvas.
I am using a HUGE dustpan/shovel that I got from Tractor Supply Company.

There is NO Silicone
in Any of My Paint.
I put down a base coat of Prussian Blue that is thinner than my other paints. Then I get my Flip Cup ready. I dirty layer a very big 32 ounce container and then flip it out onto my canvas, then use the Lip of the cup to create some interesting patterns and lines. Then I tilt it out to cover half the canvas. I really like the way the flip cup looks, there are beautiful areas of blending and the lines from the Lip are beautiful. I end up tilting to cover most of the canvas, since there was a lot of paint on there. It was so pretty that I almost stopped there, but I really wanted to try out that massive dustpan/shovel I got.
I layer another 32 ounce container, layered carefully down the side this time. I intentionally use more white and pearl blue in this cup because I want a lot of contrast in the ring pour. I also layer a 16 ounce cup the same way , in case I feel like I need more paint. I ring pour both containers into the dustpan, and then stretch them across the canvas with the dustpan.
I know there is way too much paint on the canvas. I did that intentionally, because I would rather be able to choose what parts I keep and be able to tilt off parts I may not like as much.
I do scrape my table and use the drips as basecoats and flow extenders in other pours I do not waste anything.
Once I have the dustpan pour tilted out I think I still have a lot of paint on the canvas, and I need to choose which pour I like better. As much as I love the galactic look of the flip cup, the lines of the ring pour win my heart. I stretch out the dustpan pour even more, and then decide that I want to stretch it out to cover the entire canvas. I love the lines and gradation in this piece, its really beautiful! I will show you the completely dry piece in the sun next time!

I can see one similar to this in two shovel pours the top part being layered in the sunset colors , and the lower being done in browns, and golds and darker colors and stretched like this to look like the desert. Very pretty as always.

OMG, that shovel!! 😆 You are too funny! Beautiful flip cup and colors. I was sad to see it go under the shovel pour. But I love the colorful mountainous lines from the shovel pour. Beautiful agate-like shapes. So wonderful that both you & Masse bois are celebrating each other in this way. Very creative and fun to watch. Love ya's❣

Oh no you took away all the flip cup , I wish there was some of it there on the canvas, I loved the flip cup.
Watching the first pour die was sad. The second is nice too but still...it was so gorgeous....I finally did my first pour paint this week. I'm excited to try for these colors. So beautiful. The stretching paint is a continuous birth and death of what was to what can be.

Even though you tilted off so much, it turned out beautifully. The lines and colors are amazing. I nearly fell off my chair when you pulled out that"dusty poo pan"!! We used to clean stalls with a shovel like that..only not as colorful!! 🤣 I loved both the flip cup and the dusty poo pan. I loved this one! First the flip cups were wonderful. I wanted that to be the finish. But, your courageous pour with the 'dust pan' ended up even more wonderful. But there was no guarantee except your talent and keen eye for color is as much a guarantee as there could ever be. Thanks so much! You are an inspiration!

Mina...Your painting turned out to be beautiful. As for what you were originally trying to achieve, the flip cup along with the shovel ring pour, I really liked it best when both techniques were present on the canvas. It was a gorgeous representation of both processes. However, too much paint was present and you may not even needed the extra 16 ounce layered cup. When both techniques were on the canvas, it made the painting very interesting to look at. When you decided to dump off all of the flip cup part, the painting became a painting of lines. Could you do it again using a little less paint keeping both the flip cup and ring pour techniques on the canvas? I think a lot was lost when all of the flip cup portion was tilted off. I realize you had a humongous amount of paint that needed to be tilted off. Thank you. Yes...I would love to see it again. I remain the Faithful Fan...✌️💕
