Hello my Beautiful People! Welcome back to a gorgeous summer evening! Last week I did a pour inspired by my dear friend Fiona of Fiona Art, a split cup wandering straight pour called "Hammerhead in the Clouds". I want to play with this technique and get better at it, so tonight I am using two 12x12 canvases
I am using a split cup from Tracie Reed Art, you can find them in her etsy shop using this link: www.etsy.com/s...
I am using Mix Pour as my pouring medium. You can order Mix Pour by emailing Krista at Krista8974@gmail.com
Colors:
Golden
Green Gold
Van Dyke Brown
Arteza
Pearl Pistachio
Artist Loft
Metallic Cobalt Blue
Pouring Medium:
Mix Pour
Water
There is NO Silicone
in Any of My Paint.
I fill my split cup and pour it into a puddle of gold. Almost immediately I realize that my paint is actually too thick. When I drizzle it off the stick I want a mound on a mound but I want it to sink into the cup quickly. The paint tonight is making mounds but not really sinking and melting, its acting like soft serve ice cream and staying in these really beautiful spirals instead! Because the paint is thick it is not really doing what I want it to, but I still create an interesting design and tilt it out to cover the canvas. More on this canvas later..
I wash out my cup and blow it with my leaf blower to make sure it is dry. My Husband of Awesomeness reminds me that I wanted to thin the paints out before filling the cup again, so I do thin out all my colors with a couple teaspoons of water.
This time the paint pours out beautifully and I can see a gorgeous design emerging, like rolling ocean waves. I love it! This one is so pretty and much more in line with what I originally wanted that I decide to repour on the first canvas. I layer my Tracie Reed 6 oz Split Cup and pour into the middle of the first canvas. I instantly like this composition and am loving these colors!
Some of the most important things I learned for these split cup straight pours are to hold the cup up fairly high, 6 to 10 inches off the canvas, and to pour it slowly. Its also important to not have too much paint on your canvas, else you might tip off some parts that you really like. Use a flow extender to help your pour slide easily and not eat its own composition.
I really enjoyed both of these pours. I love the feathery look and those colors are wonderful together!

Mina I’m obsessed with this color palette and not one I would have thought to use…soo thank you for being so daring and giving us amazing options! They have such a cool3-D effect. I also love how you always ask HOA’s opinion but end up doing what your gut tells you to, because I’m the exact same way with my hubs! Haha!! Much love my friend, Treesie💐🤗💐 PS: Baxter’s snoring in the background…🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰
I am SO relieved someone mentioned the snoring-I thought I was losing my mind LOL! PS Gorgeous color palette and pours!
Stunning color combination. Glad you changed up the order of the paints. Both beautiful😍

Very beautiful pours, Mini! They remind me of storm clouds; the second looking like a tornado to me. 💗

Love love both of them ...stunning
They are beautiful love the colours
Mina first time to your channel and been watching Fiona for a long time. Just felt the need to say. Job well done!!! 👏
They both were great!!!
If I had money I would buy the first one you poured & didn't like. It is one you can look at again & again and see something different each time! I cried when you poured over it!
I do understand it wasn't what YOU were going for.
Newbie here....never been creative before I am about to turn 59. My son & 3 granddaughters inspired me to try.....plus Fiona, Molly's artistry, Olga Soba,
Rinske Douna have made me believe I can do it too!
I am going to add you my list of artist women who are learning & teaching
Women who are lifting each other up, being supportive not trying to COMPETE and tear each other down (too much of that is day to day life)
But! But! The big reason I had to get on here is....
The first one that was too thick.....can you try same
Consistency in different shades of blues with a little white and see what happens! I think the thicker has a beautiful awesome look!!
And I must sayyyyy
I looove your back yard!!!
BEAUTIFUL MINA SUPER
AWESOME WOMAN!!
SUBSCRIBING RIGHT NOW!
REMEMBER sometimes your failures to you is beautiful art to someone else!! Thank you! 😊
Hi Mary! Welcome to my channel! Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm happy to have you here! ❤️
Just gorgeous! Cheers, Paige
Lol, Mina, you paint sniffer, you! A bit discombobulated, my dear? Too cute. Wow, what a great example of how paint consistency matters. Amazing difference between the two paintings. I hear Baxie snores, xoxo. Yep, the final two are awesome. Really like the colors too, they fit right in with your garden. Take care, loves. xoxoxoxo
The colors are amazing!! ❤️
Love the color palette so much!!
Beautifully done
Art by me they look beautiful.
Two incredible split cup pours!! Love these! 💓❤🔥
Thank you Piggy! ❤️
These are so beautiful Mina, Fiona would love the color palette you have chosen. To me, they look like wheat waving in the wind. Watching you paint on such small canvases is like watching a chef using a child’s tea set. lol. 🙏🏼💙💚
Great tutorial video. The resulting pourings especially the 2‘nd one is awesome. Many thanks for sharing your experiences Mina👍🏻⭐️🙂
Thanks Freido! ❤️
U did great! I love them!!! 🌼
Two lovelies!😊❤️
He was pretty sweet about that thinning thing
Very nice.
I finally had a chance to view this video and it’s awesome! I took a screenshot of the colors because I’m definitely going to make something with them although I’ll have to make my own pistachio. The paintings remind me of fern fronds (say that fast 3 times.) LOL Beautiful!
❤️❤️❤️
I mix the cobalt metallic with the Folk Art navy and get this lovely deep greenish blue metallic that I am so on love with. It's such a fun color, the cobalt.
Ohhh that sounds lovely! ❤️
@@MinaVillegasArt it's soooo pretty. I have made it several times - even when I wasn't planning to.
Love what you've done Mina - the colors are amazing.
Dear Mina, I Love those colores!! So so gorgeous!! The feathering is absolutely beautyful.
But I have to say that I also loved the first pouring with the thicker colores. I saw a satellite foto of three fingers from a mountain going down to a rocky area and ending up in juicy green gras.
Greetings from Germany 🌈❣
PS I liked the first one also it was different. B
These are awesome! Thanks for the tips! Was that Baxter snoring in the background? Such a sweetie!🥰❤️
Batters snoring is cracking me up
Mina como sempre, vc expande simpatia beleza....mas principalmente, suas telas são maravilhosas
