I missread Gideon, you can't attack the base using his ability, so you can pretty much disregard my entier analysis about him, this makes him a lot worst that I thought and probably way more midrange than aggro. I apologize, I will read the card more carefuly next time.
Mando Blue Unit is totally meant to heal and protect Grogu. And them making his rifle heroic just means you can include it in the deck if you are playing him as the leader (Cunning Heroic) or just as the unit (Vigilance Heroic) it also opens up the possibility to use it on future versions of Mando
you can play Gideon with Cunning and Sneak Attack the Cruiser out and then bring back a Snowtrooper Lieutenenat for an immediate 9 Overpower Attack, makes a great finisher
I played on Felt Table last night and pumped my Grogu up to a 8/16 with 2 shields. Having a 3 drop removal for that, and putting 5 XP tokens on something would have been buff!
I wonder how Bounties are working in multiplayer. Normaly they were thinking about multiplayer while designing cards, but in this case i think reminder text is not enought.
23:30 ability to capture an exhausted unit of any cost and any arena for 3 is bonkers man... feel like youve really undersold a lot of these cards. Time will tell but for these to come out in a starter, im excited for the rest of the set. Of course this card is limited to decks with either leader or unit mando, i think he will be very popular. Going to be some fun shenanigans with bounties, tempo play, bouncing guys, exhausting etc.. definitely see potential to lose friends with a deck with him lol
Yep, reminds me of any of the "capture"-esque effects from Magic, most recently Brutal Cathar. And almost any time that effect is on a card, it sees play. Seems pretty nutty that you can use this effect on a leader card.
From my experience Leader rarely stay in play more than 2 turns, so no I am not super impressed by this card at all. You know what other card can stop a unit for 2 turns? No good to me dead and it's cheaper and unconditional. Of course I can see it being good depending on the context, but in a vaccum I am not super impressed.
@@TurtleneckSweater-tw7hw Yes but always have to keep those are 2 different games. In magic the only way to deal with a creature is with a dedicated removal, in SWU unit can attack other unit, as a result it's very difficult to keep a unit on the board. Leaders typically stay in play no more than 2 turns.
With the color of Grogu, Mando and Razor Crest. I actually see rn Mando as a Heroism Cunning Vigilance Force deck. I think that lightsabers are the best upgrades in the game and Cunning Vigilance will have a lot of force unit (whills, yoda, kanan, ezra, luke, obiwan) so i can clearly see that happen, and even if you do not attach luke or jedi lightsaber to luke or a force unit, you still played an upgrade to trigger mando and possibly a +3/+3 upgrade
Calculated lethality is going to be busted when used alongside bountys. Load up a guy with bounty cards, then kill him and get the payout. Great card for Thrawn i think.
I really love your analysis. Thank you for the videos! Your thoughts are very insightful. Have you considered using the new Gideon capital ship with surprise attack? It could come into play ready for a resource discount and then bring into play a snow trooper lieutenant to allow itself to attack immediately for 9 damage with overwhelm. For an Aggro deck that has a lot of potential to be a big finisher for 7 resources! Perhaps too optimistic of a use case though.
@@Thorrk_THT you don’t have to sac it if the opponent is dead 😁 I would imagine you’d only do this play if you could win off of it. Otherwise yeah that’s a huge penalty to pay.
I think Moff Gideon might actually be a decent control leader depending on what else we get in the set. The ability to use his stronger units to remove the opponents units and hopefully ping damage to the base at the same time will be pretty good. I don't No how good capture is going to be. Maybe we don't have the full picture of how it'll work yet, but the way it sounds is you're just going to tuck the card underneath your card and then when your card dies or is removed their card goes right back to their side of the board. That's not that great because units don't stick around all that long in this game.
Dark trooper in a Grand Inquisitor is bonkers. Being able to damage him to ready, then get experience, to get 1 hp back. Going to annoying to deal with. Also will be strong combod with iden and overwhelming barrage.
Funny how your analysis of the unit Mando is exactly the same as mine, yet when I voiced thoses thoughts in a group I'm part of, some douchebag was rude to me because of it, because I'm supposedly producing bad takes out of my ass from the way he talked to me. Apparently it doesn't matter that I pondered stuff like, how it competes for the slot of Obi in decks, how it could get stronger to the same extent that stronger 2 drops that are worth protecting are released etc. It's not like I completely dismissed the card or anything, I just said that based on those points I layed out, I didn't feel quite strong about it just yet (there were people saying this was gonna be a chase card on the same level of set 1 Vader 🤡). Apparently that is all wrong and I'm the idiot for trying to casually discuss first impressions of a card from a tcg 🤡
Early impression is always going to be the moment in time where opinion are gonna vary the most, and this is really where you can see who can handle proper debate. Mid is better, if a card is so good your opponents will get rid of it early in the game. Grogu having no damage is not a threat so your opponents would simply ignore it while you prevent a massive attack from your opponent's leader unit, space unit, or other high cost unit.

I have a feeling these starter decks for set 2 are going to be a lot of fun!!!
Grogu theme would be with Mando vs luke or the other force users so makes sense to be brown aspect
