My mother’s house caught on fire, burnt over 44% of her body, 3 1/2 months in a medically induced coma just to help her heal enough to be able to tolerate the pain! That unit doesn’t get enough recognition, those survivors are effin warriors. Thank God for Parklands Burn Unit and Drs Purdue and Hunt! I saw things I’ll never forget!
Edit - thank you all so very much for your kind words, she lived another 15 happy years before the smoke damage to her lungs came back to bite her in the @$$…. We were grateful for every minute we were given!

I'm a burn survivor.... my sweater caught fire while cooking on a gas stove and it was horrific. Deep tissue second degree on my face and neck, third degree on my shoulders and tops of my boobs. I was put into a medically induced coma due to the pain of healing. Now, after almost ten years and the intervention of an amazing plastic surgeon and a dermatologist, you can't see it on my face and barely my shoulders and breasts now but the pain was horrific..... worst pain of my existence. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. To do that to another human being shows a complete lack of emotion and empathy. I still feel it in my nightmares... you never truly recover to 100%.

@Pattiecakes1982 my mother is a NICU nurse and floated through burns. Because of that she wouldn’t let me make candy, jam, or caramel until I hit puberty because burn victims have a higher survival rate after puberty. When I tell people that they think my mother was crazy, but you are correct, there is no worse pain than a burn because it is due to exposed nerves coupled with an overreaction of the body’s immune system. I got a very severe second degree burn on my hand as a child when I fell into a barbecue grill, I was lucky a leading burn trauma surgeon was visiting the hospital and now you can only see like stippling on the skin when I have a tan. I am very grateful and lucky, as I could have lost function of the hand. I am so glad you are doing better now.

I am so sorry to hear about your accident, but I am so glad you recovered and to read your story I can tell you are very strong. You have overcame an obstacle in your life that may inspire those close to you rather you know it or not. My grandfather had his left leg amputated due to a booby trap while on a seek and destroy mission through the jungles of Vietnam in 1968. My life growing up knowing what happened to my grandfather inspired me knowing how difficult it was for him but the way he never let it slow him down, he loved fishing and working on old cars/truck and taught me everything I know. In 2014 I was in a motorcycle wreck. Broke my right leg right arm, fractured my collar, and fractured a rib. Remembering what my grandfather endured and overcame inspired me to push through and recover.

I made a dying declaration after I was attacked by someone I knew. I remember being in an ER room and trying to speak the name of the person who tried to end my existence, and to tell the people closest to me I loved them- then hearing a code blue that sounded like it was underwater and realizing it was mine when they rushed me into a big room across the hall. I couldn't get out the words "am I gonna die", but the nurse holding my hand saw me trying to mouth it and said "It's okay. I won't leave you. I'm here. You're safe now and you're in good hands." Then I was put out and placed on life support. Her hand clasped around mine right all the way through that millisecond of relief from my burning lungs as I was knocked out and put on lifesupport was everything. I didn't think I was gonna wake up. But knowing that I named the person, they'd tell my loved ones, and I could let go of it was so helpful in that final moment. I'm obviously alive now, but jesus christ, those events leading up to it (and after) were fubar.

Betraying and playing with the trust and hope of another person is truly evil, especially considering what they had in mind for her. My mom and dad both grew up poor. They had limited education. However, my grandmothers had totally different housekeeping habits. My dad’s mom was not one to clean up. Ashtrays were always overflowing. Dust was brutal. I took care of her house from a very young age and learned how to clean, cook and do laundry.
My mom’s mother was the opposite. She and my grandfather had nothing but what they did have was always extraordinarily cleaned. After Dad’s mom died, I simply could not face cleaning her house. Mom did it for me. When mom’s mother died (about 20 years later) there was not a speck of dust to be found. Even under the bed. She was 74 and had cancer but that house was cleaner than any hospital. My mother always said the same thing as Bruce. Just because you are poor or live in a trailer, you don’t have to be sloppy and dirty.

Well, that’s just my opinion.
I miss both grandmothers so much. They were strong women with kind souls. This poor murdered girl wanted to lead a different life for her and her children. I noticed that HER trailer was neat, clean and tidy. She could have been like those grandmothers that I loved and admired so much. The inhumanity of this crime is incomprehensible.

Her hair and clothes were burned off and her skin was sloughing off when EMS was trying to work on her. A guy set her and her car on fire, she survived long enough to find her way out and was walking around the woods lost for a bit or possibly hiding from her attacker, until first responders showed up at the vehicle site and they said that she came walking out of the woods looking like a zombie (her arms were out stiff because her skin was so burned that it was dried and tightened up like jerky). Her lips were burnt off and her throat, esophagus, and lungs were severely burnt, tight and dried out and she somehow was still conscious, mobile, and was able to tell the Paramedics who she was and who did that to her. She stayed alive, holding on just long enough for her Mom to get there and say Goodbye. Such a tragic story.

I was in a car accident and the site of one of my wounds became infected and its stitches broke open. Doctors said they couldn't restitch it because of the infection, which was causing some of my flesh to ooze and turn black. So they had to do the same thing to it as they do with burns, the scraping/grating, and picking and cutting, all but had me hanging from the ceiling. They did it every day for a week, then once a week for another month.
I know that pain, your nerves are exposed, even the air is painful. And it was a very small section of my leg, I can't imagine having that all over my body but I think I'd rather be euthanized. And like you, I gained a whole lot of perspective and appreciation through that pain.

Same…. I burned my face doing a stupid teenage fire stunt…. The ‘heat’ from the burn seems to intensify, I literally felt like the burning pain increased after several hours post burn. There are so many stages to this type of trauma, it looks way worse before it gets better. My young self conscious teenage face took so long to get back to normal.
Thank God I healed, the body is so amazing! I have gorgeous skin, I really baby my skin since that incident. This was a very humbling experience.

As a retired nurse, Ive seen alot of horrible injuries and Im pretty stoic about blood and gore, but I draw the line at dealing with burns. Even watching films of burn victims was so difficult. The disfigurement and pain is torturous and those burn unit nurses are superheroes. When my friend had a house fire and lost his two kids, I couldnt bring myself to change his bandages after he left the burn unit, as much as I wanted to help. I helped in every way but medical, and I was the nurse in our group. His head was swollen twice the normal size and he wasnt able to save his kids despite trying. yeah, burns are the worst. Only a sadistic ,sick person would do such a thing, to cause such suffering.

@Linda... I am an old, 74 yrs., retired nurse too. I posted a comment too, but I wanted to say to you don't beat yourself up over not being able to treat friends or family burn victims, or even strangers for that matter. It's so very difficult, and nearly impossible though some very special people do. The one burn patient that I did have to treat as a Senior nursing student was heartbreaking, but as a student I had to if I wanted to pass! He was a 9 month old baby, who had 2nd and 3rd degree burns over his entire body but his head.He also only weighed 10 lbs., the weight of my 2 sons at birth! It was obvious that this child was neglected and abused. The story was that Grandma didn't know that the water in the tub was that hot! No testing of the temp with her hands, or eyes seeing steam coming off the water. And she must've just dangled him by an arm and dropped him in, since her hands weren't burned! Somehow this little guy survived by the end of my rotation, and then I lost track of him.😥 I went into Cardiology. ❤

I knocked a pot of boiling water off the stove and onto my leg while boiling eggs when I was 13 . . . I ran to the bathtub and turned on the cold water. The first layer of skin came off with my jeans. Mom took me to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Hospital didn’t ask my last name or if I had insurance or anything. As soon as they realized it was a burn, they took me to the burn unit immediately. I remember someone saying they had a really great burn ward and even adults got treated there. There was a soundproof door at the end of one of the halls. I know it was soundproof because I heard a man screaming when someone opened the door. Burn pain is no joke. So anybody who reads this let me give you some information just in case you burn yourself down the road because you probably will burn yourself somewhat or badly at least once in your life.
While I was in college a couple years ago, I had a frying pan in the oven making some food. Don’t ask me why I was using the frying pan in the oven. That’s just how I made this particular dish.
Well, when I open the oven and grab the frying pan handle… it’s a frying pan and you usually just grab a frying pan. You don’t think about it. You just grab the handle.
When you’re using a frying pan on the stove top, you can grab the handle and it’s not hot.
I didn’t register in my head, fast enough after opening the oven that dumb dumb. It’s in the oven the whole thing it’s gonna be hot.
I grabbed that handle and I had that oven going at 450 so that metal was at least 450° I grabbed that handle and just it scorched my hand.
I remember wrapping my hand around the handle and then let go before it fully grasped it because that’s how much it hurt right away .
I only halfway grabbed it, but that’s all it took to turn splotches of my hand beat red.
It caused me to have to wrap my hand the next day in this gauze stuff which sucked because I was going to trade school for CNC machining and tool and die.
      All hands on stuff.
And I was going through my CNC Lathe Class I spent the next week pretty much one-handed, which made machining fairly hard because there’s a lot of set up.
The point of the story is if you burn yourself, do not run your skin that’s burnt under a cold water you use lukewarm water you use room temperature water do not use hot water and do not use cold water .
The cold water does something to your skin. That is not good when it’s burning. It decreases blood flow to the burnt area, which can reverse the healing process.
Lukewarm water or room temperature water to help with the initial pain but to tell you the truth, nothing is really gonna help you with burning pain.
Painkillers don’t really do anything for burns and you kind of just have to get through it .
You can try specific creams that are for burns to help with the pain but honestly nothing is really gonna help. You just have to get through it.
      Don’t use Coldwater water !
      Resist the urge lol

All 4 occupants of the hatchback had died, all of them were impaled by dozens and dozens of 1/2 inch and 1 inch copper pipes. Even typing this is causing me to shake and experience a terrifying fight or flight response (that’s the best way I can describe the feeling, even though I know it’s not an accurate depiction, I just have never been able to adequately describe the feeling I get when I think about that night.) Even though it wasn’t his fault, he couldn’t escape the guilt of being involved in 4 teenagers demise. I can only image what the parents and families of the victims feel, especially the plumbers family, the suffering they’ve endured breaks my heart even more. Got thrown from a car that flipped on 95. I don’t think most people realize burns don’t have to be from heat, I had severe road rash and the dressing changes alone felt like they were flaying me alive even with a fentanyl patch and dilaudid injection q2 hours. Of all my injuries that was the most painful, and I didn’t have to suffer the debridement done luckily since I was in a coma the first week.
The nurses for the most part were great (it took 2-3 hours to do dressing changes) and I was so grateful for one who took the time to help wash my hair that was still matted with blood and safety glass. But then had another at the rehab center who left me after only coming in once at the beginning of her shift when another was doing her handoff. She went to get my pain meds and never returned and I was in such pain and my wounds were leaking all over the sheets. Everyone who came in said they told her but she didn’t come back a single time during the 12 hours. But I got my pain meds supposedly on the dot every time it was allowed 🤔. I felt extra bad because I shared a room with a stroke victim who couldn’t speak so if I was left like that I can’t imagine if I had no one and couldn’t voice any issues.

My daughter was burnt by a campfire over much less than 100% of her body, and morphine barely touched the pain. I can't imagine the torture Audreanna was enduring. For someone to do that to her is beyond cruel, it's inhuman. Sick. Psychopathic. No amount of mental help for who did this to that poor girl would ever make them normal. And what about Audreannas children and family? Not enough therapy in the world to take away the mental picture of what they'd done to her and the grief of losing her to such a painful, brutal and horrific crime.

We had soaked the grass in water so it wa thick mud and we had 3 or 4 water hoses they hit me with to put out the flames. I burned off most of my hair but i wasnt hurt in anyway. My mom worked at a deli in the 90s and her coworker Stacy was going to change oil in the deep fryer. I'm not sure if either the fryer hadn't been off long enough for the oil to cool or if she wasn't using the container they normally drained the oil into, but for some reason Stacy grabbed a big plastic bucket and started draining hot oil into the plastic bucket. My mom said the bucket started melting and Stacy picked it up by the handle, I think she was trying to get it to the sink before it made a mess on the floor, but the bottom gave out as soon as she lifted it off the ground and several gallons of hot oil spilled all over her feet. My mom said the only thing she could think of was to get Stacy's feet into water immediately and the closest thing was like a 10 gal bucket that pickles came in. I don't know if my mom dumped out the pickle juice and filled it with fresh water or if Stacy had to put her feet directly in pickle juice, but I imagine there was at least some residue still in there if my mom had just dumped it. The oil wasn't at deep frying temperature, so I don't know if she had 1st or 2nd degree burns, but she managed to get in my mom's car with the pickle bucket on the floor and be taken to the ER instead of calling an ambulance. I don't think I saw Stacy again, plus I was probably 9 or 10 when this happened, so I don't know how severe her injuries were or what her recovery was like. But pay attention to what you're doing when you're around hot oil.

She felt the pain as we slowly removed the dead skin and started skin grafts. The smell is seared into my brain. We did our best; fluids, skin grafts, serious painkillers. We tried to save her due to the fluid loss by skin and IVs. She died. She was drunk and run into a gasoline truck. Please, please if you’ve had too much to drink, take an Uber. 1:14:40 Bruce, just FYI...cluttering & hoarding are well-identified trauma responses. I work in property management, so I see it all the time. First, in trailer park living, there is zero storage. Second, there is a generational accrual of lack of housekeeping skills & investment. Third, there is a self-soothing element to acquiring "stuff", whether you're rich or poor (and especially if you're poor). Fourth, if you're caught up in drugs & prostitution, cleaning is dead last on the list. It might be on the list...but it's last. Not saying I disagree with you that even if you're living in a trailer, you can keep it tidy. But in most cases, it is actually not feasible for a multitude of reasons. The mess an outsider observes is not necessarily a reflection of the soul of the person living there.

Our home burned down a few years ago…the fire started while my 7 year old son and I were in the house. It happened so fast and thank GOD we got out with just some smoke inhalation. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever been through in my 39 years on this earth and I wouldn’t wish that kind of panic and fear on anyone. It just happened SO fast. I had to lift up my son and throw him out of the front door bc the flames were like 10ft tall and almost blocking the door. When they talk about adrenaline and getting super strength, especially when it comes to moms and their children…they aren’t lying. He ran for help and I called 911 and tried to save what I could. It was so hot and it only took minutes from smelling the smoke to the house being halfway engulfed. The fire started in our attic due to wiring being chewed up by raccoons. I cannot imagine what Adrianna must’ve felt…what Tina and those other nasty women did to her was nothing short of putting her through hell on this earth. I hope her children are doing okay. 😢❤

The only people that don’t like living in Manufactured Home developments are people who want to be crappy neighbors. Most manufactured home communities have a strict code of compliance, so you never have to worry about having a neighbor who refuses to do lawn maintenance, has loud parties, takes up all the parking, or has domestic fights that disturb neighbors. Parks don’t play that way in my experience. In today’s social climate, manufactured home developments are one of the safest places to live for single women and women with children. Every stick built home that I’ve lived in has come with at least one crappy neighbor that makes everyone’s lives miserable, with zero consequences. Manufactured home developments make people sign the regulations before acceptance and will make people move their home out or sell if they refuse to follow the rules. I’ve never seen unreasonable expectations, they just expect people to be respectful and use common courtesy, but American society doesn’t hold that standard in traditional neighborhoods.

@@richardsinclair7661 I'm not familiar with CC, but Dreading is what I'm thinking of re: just shows you 2 hours straight of interrogation footage, barely edited, adding a comment maybe every 10 minutes. Not all of their videos are like that, but most of the interrogation ones are, and in my opinion it's very low-effort compared to JCS and EWU. I don't come away from Dreading videos having learned anything about how interrogations work, what the detective is gleaning from the interview in real time, or the context that makes certain moments significant, but I do with JCS and EWU.

Tl;dr: We watch true-crime for different reasons. I don't think Dreading is low-quality when considering my own reasons, but he may not match your own standards, which is fair.
@@visitlucyland Dreading isn't the same kind of true crime channel as EWU or JCS. He's more of a presenter of information, going through the known facts and particulars of a case, adding in commentary when he deems it. It's not as analytical as JCS or EWU, but I personally don't mind. I don't listen to true crime for the sake of learning anything about interrogation, psychology, or the legal process. I have a fascination with the various quirks and ailments of the human condition. That's it. Perhaps my standards are lower than yours, but I can't say Dreading is low-quality because his style differs from others in the space, especially when those others are considered some of the greats of the genre, which in itself make the comparison unfair.
