    I had my son in college - we were such a team. Now I’m 37, married and have two little girls too, but my son is about to turn 17. Take it from someone who is painfully aware of how fast it goes and can see beyond the “but I think she’s ready, she might be bored” thoughts - bigger picture - keep her with you an extra year and start her later. She has the rest of her life to adult. Give her the gift of one more year of childhood and yourself the gift of one more year of your family together.

    When I was debating the kindergarten sooner or later question with my daughter, I spoke to a kindergarten teacher. She said "my 6es lead and my 5s follow. And when I've checked in on them later in life, that remains true." We made the decision to wait and never regretted it. They're just that much more equipped and experienced with an extra year under their belt and that head start remains throughout their lives.

    I am a 3rd grade teacher and my daughter owns a preschool and teaches 4 year olds. We have had many conversations about whether to start a child in Kinder or wait another year. It is certainly a case by case decision. Just from seeing Gigi in videos and hearing you talk about her, she seems to be ¨advanced¨ for her age, in a good way! You and Tyler have given her so many great experiences in her life and that has helped to shape who she is. I know you are a teacher as well, so I´m not saying anything you don´t already know. I would say she is definitely ready for Kinder. I teach in a Title 1 school and we have so many students who have never been away from the town we live in or not seen anything but the state we live in. Gigi has seen so many different places in her 4 years thus far. I feel that providing those opportunities to see other places and experience new things helps with brain development and the ability to socially interact with different types of people. I think she will thrive and love Kindergarten!

    I’ve been an educator for 25 years and also have seen and heard many parents say they were glad that they waited and sent their child to kindergarten later but none - not a single one that said that they were glad that they sent them earlier. Experiences are great but the tools that they need to be successful in kindergarten are what is key. Whenever anyone asks me I always say wait another year - you won’t be sorry. You are the one that sees your child the most and so it is an individual decision and an individualized to your child decision. Praying that you have peace with whatever decision you make.

    We’ll be having our daughter be old for her kindergarten class. I worried about her being 6 and “too old,” and then I realized there’s literally NO rush. Having her in pre-k longer will give her an extra year of play-based learning, and more social and emotional maturity before being expected to sit through full day kindergarten. It’s such an individual choice but I really don’t want to rush her into K just because she’s “old enough.” ❤

Also, my son was an early June bday and he went on time as well. Wasn't a second thought. He was as ready for school as anyone born in September. He's now a successful 24 year old. Ultimately it's your choice depending on your child (Gigi seems pretty well adjusted). I would only worry if a child was behind in learning or socially. Whatever choice you make will turn out fine.

    I practically grew up on Taylor Swift so there’s no way Midnights could ever reach that level of sentimentality for me, but being unbiased, it was really good and I even said to a couple people that it might be my favorite album of hers. Cuz the thing with Taylor, and I don’t think people like to admit it, but she wasn’t exactly the best singer when she started. Shocking, a long time Swiftie just said Taylor couldn’t sing, no she could sing, she just didn’t have the experience and skill that she has now. Songwriting has always been her strong suit and it’s only gotten better, alongside her vocals, and I think her full growth as a singer and songwriter shows on Midnights. Lavender Haze has been stuck in my head a lot and Labyrinth a little. I need to listen to it more and really figure out what my favorites actually are. But I’m also not the type of fan to love every song or album from people, whether they’re newer to me or someone I’ve listened to since childhood, and honestly I didn’t really like evermore. I thought folklore was better but no body, no crime was the only one on evermore that I listened to since I heard the whole thing. And I guess it’s just not really my vibe and that’s ok because other people do love it and she has a ton of other music that I enjoy. Idk I’m just sick of that toxic side of fandoms being like if you dislike anything this person/group puts out then you’re a fake fan when it’s seriously not that deep. But anyway there’s my Ted talk on Taylor 😅

    • @RachelJayne92
      @RachelJayne92 Год назад

      I agree!
      I’ve been a fan of hers since love story. Folklore and evermore are by far my least favourite albums, purely because that’s not the type of music I like, but her lyrics are much stronger than they used to be.

  • @TracyMichelle210

    It’s really going to depend on her what her level is whether you hold her back in preschool another year. I was born in June and started kindergarten the year I turned 5 so I was one of the youngest in my class but because I’ve always been more mature for my age starting kindergarten that year was the best choice for me. On the other hand my sister was born in July and started kindergarten the year she turned 5 and it was totally the wrong choice for her. She was a little behind maturity wise and really struggled. She ended up being held behind in first grade and has always been embarrassed by it but it could have been avoided if she had just started a year later. I would say definitely talk to her preschool teachers and see what they think as well.

    • @louiseclarkashburn6664

      My son’s birthday was 4 days before the cutoff date for kindergarten. He was savvy, played a lot with older kids, was totally ready to start school. But during the school year he was teased about being younger, his confidence began to slip, and we decided to have him repeat kindergarten to give him that strength back. For him that worked out very well. So if you feel it’s right to start Gigi, and then she has some struggles, that is another option. You can tailor a plan just for her as she grows.

    Taylor Swift, I think now that she's over 30, her fans aren't 10 anymore so she feels better about just being who she is rather than editing herself for really young fans. She gave herself permission to grow up and it's great. The new music is edgier, more adult, and thoughtful. I like it. It's been 17 years, so it's time. lol Reeses will always be number 1. lol

    I have three children and each of their birthdays fell into this zone for beginning kindergarten for the start of school. We opted to increase the days per week in preschool, from 3 to 5, to help them transition easier. I highly recommend! Not only were the kids benefitted by easing into the changes and expectations of a full week in the classroom, but we as parents were helped in adjusting to the new routine and gave our brains a bit more time to catch up to the fact that our "babies" were growing up! Childhood flies by too fast!!!! Wishing you and Tyler all the best!

    Sending you big hugs! It's so valuable to acknowledge that hard seasons in life hit us all, and we don't have to pretend everything is sunny skies all the time. From what you have shared, I've wondered if there is a divorce in the family. As someone whose parents divorced the week my second child was born, it's a level of stress and pain I am still recovering from. It's so hard to figure out how much you are able to forgive as the family picks up the pieces and moves forward. I could be totally off base here, but just wanted to share that I've been there and know just how difficult it is. Coming from a mom of three adults, my firstborn was older in his class and much further ahead than his classmates. My last child was literally the youngest in her class. From the moment of her birth, so was a go-getter. She just wanted, as was able to, do things beyond her age. She thrived in school and would've been completely bored had I held her back. The best advice, YOU are her parents, YOU know Gigi, no one knows better than you what she is capable of!! She'll be fine either way!! Just like my kiddos were!! Blessings to you as you navigate your familys' sadness. That's always a difficult time. I love your channel and content!!!! ✌🏼💚🙏🏼

    My daughter is 3y but in prek right now but even as a 1yr old/toddler I’ve noticed she is better being one of the youngest in her class. I work at her daycare/preschool so I’ve gotten to see her being the oldest/leader in the class and also the youngest/follower. She just absorbs so much more being with older kids, when she’s the oldest in the class most of the skills they’re learning and trying to work on or skills that they aren’t ready for she’s already been working on so she’ll get bored (like correctly holding a pencil or crayon, she’s been doing since she was 1; also scissors, she’s already able to cut in a straight line on dotted lines but some kids older than her can’t hold scissors the right way)

When I tell you that it’s only have way thru the year and we are so glad we gave her another year. Her confidence is SOARING.
