  • In this video I attempt to reproduce an antique feeling axe head for The Bearded Carpenter. He builds and restores log cabins and homes. I hope to make more tools for him in the future. Check out his fantastic channel here.

    I love that you started out by making or adjusting a tool to hold the stock that you were going to use.

    You did great job on the axe for bearded carpenter Your young photographer is awesome as well. We have been watching him a lot and have learned a lot from him. We are building slog cabin now.     Came from Bearded Carpenter!! Nice sharing each other's knowledge!! So cool to watch all the machines you use. Only ever seen totally hand forged items made. ( we do living history stuff) You are amazing!! What a shop!! Hugs

    Why do you put water on the anvil? I've seen that before but never understood why.

      When you are towards the end of forging you do this to blast some of the rough scale off. You put the water on the anvil and when the ho steel comes in contact with it, it creates steam and when you hit it with the hammer it compresses the steam and creates an explosion.
