Every Monday I get up and contemplate trying to go home from work and go gold mining after I watch your videos in the morning lol, you and Jeff crack me up . I’ve always wonder if some old miner has ever hid his loot in some secret spot and I got lost to time, that was awesome when you found that can. I’m getting ready to detect an old Chinese camp no ones messed with so I’ve been told, on our claim. Good luck on your adventures.

Nice find with the can, a few years ago I found a small glass jar filled with black sand, had some gold in it.
Miner was probly scooping gravels into that old tin can from a bedrock crevice, wonder if he lost his spoon to? That round ball looks like a 36 caliber from a pattern 1800 baker rifle or trade musket! great finds and vid!

Well Gary your videos are my only prospecting enjoyment these days, I retired and moved to OK to start a small farm from CO. I haven't figured out how to go west to have some fun. So just know you do make a difference to some if not all. Great job!

Hi Gary, even though you said the old barrel hoop wasn't cool, I could see it as part of a 49er collection hanging on your wall with that can attached. I could see it hanging in an antique store along 49. It is relevant and I know you know it is too. Good find and thank you for bringing me back to my childhood days and dreams. I am now thinking of how to leave Hilo Hawaii to my final resting place in the Sierra's.

Fantastic finds. My brother found some old musket balls in a yew tree he was planking up, unfortunately wrecked the saw blade but the lead made fantastic colours in the wood

Silver coins were once cut up to pay ppl when they had no smaller coins. That’s what “pieces of 8” are, 1/8th of a coin. Not sure if yours are the same kinda thing though🤷♂️
True one reason why coins were eventually made with a reeded edge . To stop coin clipping.
And they did the same with large cents in colonial days.

There is a trail marker tree directly behind you. They are called Indian thong trees. They wee intentionally bent to mark trails before the was road signs!!! Some travelers would use them as places to stop and rest along and in between stops to their destination.
Been told People would also sometimes cash belongings of value near them..

That is an old lead soldered can, definitely a collectable. It looks homemade to me with paint and heavy lead solder. As a plumber for "49" years, I would still drink out of it. I believe the plumbing product industry is way overblown about lead content. It's all to do with large corporation lobbyists being able to make more money. And I am a liberal!!! lol
