I miss this guy so fkn much!, I'm the same age as Dave and he is part of the reason I carried on riding bmx, in 1990 in the UK bmx had pretty much vanished but I carried on riding by myself, by the time I was 19 I was ready to stop, partly because of boredom and partly because I didn't know anyone who rode bmx and I was ridiculed for riding "a kids bike" by most people who saw me practicing tricks, but then I saw Dave at his first x games (I think) on TV by accident and that was it, he lit up a brand new fire under my arse and its that fire that keeps this 46 Yr old father of three on my bmx, Thank you so much Dave, I will always ride gold pedals for you, RIP the miracle boy.
+Jack Jenkins The guy was just so insane on the bike, I went to Woodward a bunch as a kid, remember Dave helping me pull my bike out of the foam pit and just being so good to us kids, he made me feel special..like wow I'm hanging out with the best freestyle b.m.x rider of all time..made us feel like we were part of the group. Went back to school bragging telling all my classmates..GUESS WHO I RODE WITH!!! God bless the miracle boy for making all us kids feel like miracle boys.
I doubt Dave or Ryan will ever see this comment. But, my friend and I used to watch this and "How I wasted my summer" everyday before we wanted to ride and needed a boost. Thanks, fellas.
I have this on VHS. Dave was an inspiration to a generation of freestyle bmx riders. I used sit in school looking at my danscomp magazine plotting my next bike part setup & color schemes. I have seen this video about a hundred times to get me pumped to ride.
I haven't seen Ryan ride in person, but I did catch Dave at Journey's Backyard BBQ in Franklin Tennessee when my kids were young. It was sunny and so hot outside and Dave is dressed all in black and pouring sweat. I went to a vendor & bought an icy bottle of water and offered it to him. He said, "No thanks man, I'm good." However, I did get a picture with him after seeing him run a session - Two dreams come true! RIP Dave. You were a class act and My Hero.
I had the American made Nyquist frame, came complete, and it flew. Last ones made here too, it made you feel safe sending it. Watched this video on vhs years ago, over and over.
Early 2000 me and my boys would watch the shit out of this video the night before we go riding at rampworx skate park in Liverpool. It was a ritual to watch on the night before, nobody would be sat on phones, we would all be in gaged on this one video tape in the room. This video was a national treasure.
Thanks for sharing this. Rest in peace miracle man we love you and miss you man. Nyquist is the king of dirt and still riding and representing haro. Two of the greatest people to Grace two wheels
I remember my dad taking me to choose a BMX for Christmas and me seeing this in the bike shop and him getting me it i watched it every day until Christmas day absolutely buzzing to get my bike brought back so many good memory's.
Like most on these comments watched this countless times as a kid, met Dave ere in England , great fella , I couldn’t believe it at the time I was speechless, RIP Dave mirra!
Surprising to learn from the comments how many of us watched this on repeat everyday. Me, my brother and mate used to watch it before we went for a ride.
Wow wow .I was into bmxs late 70es early 80es .in Britain 🇬🇧 been watching dave a lot lately re living my passion back in the day . Shaking also .47 soon looking for a old mongoose Pro class ..so sad what happened .iv suffered mental health illness most my life .I no dave had other things going on !!! Respect to the guy .love to his friends n family
Love watching this again! I remember when it came out and i'd go over to my friends house and watch it on full blast on his VHS player then go ride. I guess i was around 12/13 and it triggered my love for these little kids bikes! Thanks for the upload.
Oh boy such an inspiration Dave was! who else has ridden a Haro Mirra bike? As teenagers I remember my friends wanted to party and play soccer, I just wanted to get and ride that bike, finally had it in 2000 and suddenly the whole world made sense to me!
Ride In Peace Dave The Miracle Boy Mirra. Fucking legend I always wanted to turn pro riding dirt and park for team Haro. Finally got a Haro Nyquist Backtrail X1 when I turned 16 but 6 months later, I sold it for a guitar and haven't ridden a bicycle since. Dave was the absolute man on a BMX bike. The greatest there ever was. I remember his last couple years of summer X-Games though. He rode better for the 1-800-CALL-ATT commercials than he did for the games. I think he was just ready to retire but must've had some obligations and contracts to finish out. And I'll never forget him pulling the first ever double backflip. Me and 6 of my friends in my living room in the summer heat. We all had crackers popcorn candy and Gatorade and shit. I remember turning my head to one side so I could take a long pull from my Gatorade. Early in his run, Dave did a big dead air over the box What the hell? Nothing on the quarter pipe What is he doing Pedal pedal pedal Up and over and over again I SPRAYED GATORADE EVERYWHERE Thanks for the memories, Dave.
This video really hits home.. I STILL have the same bike (with the seat their height), admiring the HELL out of these guys. I’m 34 and still have my STANDARD LENGTHY! RIP BRO!
i remember borrowin the vhs from my good buddy and fellow rider Chase back in high school, i remember my Fox gloves (both pairs, both stolen from me), i remember my DCs, i remember classy, i remember Mirra
Mirra Mirra on the wall your legacy shall never fall / shining down upon those far and near reason why you left will never be clear / everytime you rode you had no fear now that you're gone I'm trying not to shed a tear / so instead of doing so thought I'd let you know / you were the greatest of all time even well passed your prime / just thought I'd let you know one more time / Now it's time to rest but don't worry don't stress cuz when they hear your name they're getting told about the best that ever did it, but you know there's still some haters out there that won't admit it / You had your heart in it from the very start of it and when it came to those tricks man Godfathered them / I don't know what else to say so Imma go, but I just wanted to say thank you to my childhood hero / Even though you're looking down at us from the sky your life and legacy will never die... #RIDEINPEACE You Might Be Gone Never 4Gotten
