      RIP Greenville. The Emerald City Has lost its lustre. First time I saw Dave ride I was walking to the bars tripping my balls off on Acid. It was night and he was riding the wall on 1st street kinda across from the town commons. The whole experience made me question reality. I kid you not. I was this is not humanly possible. I shared a back yard With Donnie god I can remember them fools had me woke up in the morning with the sound of him and his brother dropping in. Wow Donnie had a ramp even before this doc gives him credit for. I know for a fact he had one max latest would have been when I was 15 so in 83 1984 he always rode a scooter or whatever. Greenville was amazing. I mean I landscaped Dave's mansion then cut his grass as his regular house. Dave would go on golf trips with my pops and just old ass men. He said he would just chill and he couldn't play golf worth a piss and it really really bothered him he was that competitive. Nyquist sold me his original haro at a yard sale. He had wrecked it and hurt himself first time he rode it and he put a big ol lock and chain on it. Dude was so humble he sold that bike to me for 70 bucks. What a time to be alive. All these dudes were just awesome. No judgement in Greenville. Party hard for young whatever that was truly the attitude. PeaCe

    Used to look up to Mirra when I was young. He grew up about 10 mins from me and we rode the same skatepark. I remember knowing about him and then the very first time seeing him at the skatepark, meeting and getting to ride with him. Really glad I had a chance to know him.

    I used to ride as a kid with mates, on the local dirt track on our mountain bikes, when dave mirra 2 came out and I played it, the bmx dream was born. Ended up riding for 10 years until I had kids and swapped my bmx for a car but for that decade, riding around town all day and night, going back to friends, getting the beers in, watch some bmx/skate vids, xgames or playing matt hoffman 2, they were some of the best years I could've asked for and it all started with one guy. Mirra.

    i always loved dave mirra. ever since i was a little hoodlum bmx'r in the mean streets on NY thinking i was the man when i could jump higher than anyone else on the dirt ramps we had all over town. (but i couldnt 360 to save my life).. I never knew Dave Mirra was the reason Greenville was on the map. I also never knew he was from NY. i figured he was from Cali like almost everyone else. To watch this though was awesome. so much awesome knowledge packed into this video. whoever made it is amazing. and so many people love it. Bmx will always be my life. even though i havent had a bike since it was stolen a few years ago, and now im so hurt at 34 y/o that i can barely walk most days. But that bmx mindset will always be who i am. and it was because of dave mirra and ryan nyquist more than any other pro name.

    • @Runescape.
      @Runescape. 3 года назад +4

      yeah because for these guys when they get old they cant do the one thing they love anymore. BMX takes more of a toll on you than skaeboarding or any other xtreme sport. when the bike hits you or you crash over the bars you get really screwed up. so these guys get older and cant compete anymore, cant do the same tricks anymore. go watch the tony hawk video of him at 50 years old trying to do the 900 again, he falls like 30 times and is about to give up. because when you get older you just cant do what you did when you were younger. these guys got to see the best times and the worst times and unfortunately they cant handle the bad times.

I always wanted bmx to grow but we were from a small town and couldnt afford $1k for bikes! We just needed $50 bux every couple weeks for a new deck & tape and we were good. We had local a shop/park with 6’ half pipe, 4’ spine ramp,& 10’ vert ramp & it was heaven! I miss the 80’s so bad because this was the best of times!#RememberWhen#BMX#🛹#the80’sRule

    Dave and Haro saved BMX in the 90s and early 2000s like Eddie Fiola did for GT and Woody Itson did did for Hutch Trevor Hernandez and the rest of the OGs in the late 70s and 80s but those guys from the '80s even though they did set the bar will never be as good as technical and as fearless as Dave mirra or Ryan Nyquist or Matt Hoffman or any of those guys. I've lived in nc my intire life, in hickory and never knew all the pros live a few hours away. 31 years and I could have been riding with them the whole time. I'm going to Greenville for sure....

    So what has happened to the warehouse within the past year? I looked it up and can’t seem to find a clear answer. I saw it was dubbed the BMX House in 2011 but it looks like a new business bought the building and remodeled it…

    Dude, Steve Nowak!?! I still have two of Airborne Bikes Quality Sales & Service flyers. Once I bought a set of Eastern wheels from him out of his house and he took me and my British friend to burger king for lunch. Oh man, the 90s memories.
