    *_As an update :_* Jacob has received his control bionics eye gaze computer! The computer allows him to use a keyboard to speak. It also allows him access to Facebook, RUclips, texting and more. Jacob is working daily to master his new device. It will take time for him to use it quickly. But he is making progress.

    • @rosalynw.otieno1994
      @rosalynw.otieno1994 7 месяцев назад +21

      You need to see a lawyer to get an Advance Directive prepared (also referred to as a Living Will, or a Medical Proxy). Once you have the documents prepared, you give them to your primary care physician and they will scan them into your medical records. That way they can see it if you become incapacitated. You also give a copy to your spouse, siblings and close friends. It reduces the chances of anyone in your life refusing to obey it. It will also allow the hospital to get an Order from a Judge if it is challenged by your family. This subject is very unpleasant, but you have to speak up while you can.

Therefore he did not have any family or nurses who would talk to or nurture him or provide him any kind of stimulation. Once, it was either his mother or wife, said out loud to him, they wish he would just die, not realizing he could hear them. Somehow, he kept the will to live and eventually a nurse noticed a slight response in his eyes, and everyoneiu0 found out he was conscious the entire time. He was at least able to communicate in his last few years, but his fate was the same as Jacob's eventually. 45r

      I can see how some people would want to try and get better no matter what. The hope to get better is enough for them. Some want to be around for other people like their kids or partners, no matter their state.
      But for me id rather not. I agree with the other commentors here. I've told my mom similar things, where if its a major lifelong complication or a high chance of more pain for the rest of my life then let me go. I've lived with chronic pain this far, it something happens that makes it even more unbearable just please let me go and let me rest.

      @@h.s.6269 True. I can also understand that different life experiences lead to different decision making. I guess the view of what suffering is might not be unanimous. But for the ones that didn’t put it in writing before hand I really feel for. A lack of documentation(will, POA, DNR etc etc) was at times a big deciding factor of what a persons future would look like.

      If you died TODAY, where would you be spending eternity? Have all your sins been forgiven or are you still hoping that you're a good enough person to earn a spot in heaven.
      The reality is that no one can earn a spot, our sin disqualifies us. But the God news is that Jesus paid for our qualification by dying on our behalf taking the punishment that we deserved.
      JESUS said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son; that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
      Nothing is more important than your eternal destination. Please, don't say, "When I get older I'll get right with God' or 'I'll get serious with Jesus one day when I'm ready.'
      Don't wait any longer, today is the day of salvation. Get right with God today, for tomorrow very well might be too late.
      We invite you to REPENT and accept that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life by praying this simple prayer out loud right now...
      'Heavenly Father, I turn away from my old life and repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus came for me, that Jesus died for me and that Jesus rose again for me so that I can be forgiven and receive eternal life. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, receive the gift of eternal life. I ask you to fill me with the Holy Spirit and lead me for the rest of my life. In Jesus name - Amen.
