- We're back! In this episode of PM Tech Explained, we go over just a few of the coolest movement mechanics surrounding platforms. Project M has some of the most interesting tech that are exclusive to being on a plat, and Flarp has created this video narrated by ilikepizza107 to show them off!
Music Used:
Ruins - Undertale
Field Of Hopes And Dreams - Deltarune
Meteor Herd (Instrumental) - Sonic Adventure 2

Always nice to know there exists at least one Smash where players don't absolutely despise the platforms
I don't believe there's any smash title where most players are opposed to platforms?
Ultimate platforms are a bit of a pain (especially since there's no shield dropping) but platforms still aid a lot of combo extensions in that game?
@@SSJPENGUINI can despise them without opposing to them
@@SSJPENGUIN yes but they still have issues, project m is the only game with truly no issue with the platforms
@@SSJPENGUINin the two best official ones, Melee and Ultimate, platforms are treated as obstacles. Things to be worked around. Problems to solve. Project M and Plus, being a fan mod, makes them closer to items that are used to enhance movesets
@@huyphan7825Melee definitely doesn’t treat platforms as obstacles. The movement in that game on platforms is almost just as good in this one, it’s just you wave dash across and off holding forward from a platform to retain your momentum instead of shield dropping (which is a technique you can also do in Melee).
that luigi is one funny fella
Yup
Lol
Lmao even
What is that technique called when you can use ariels really low to the ground on platforms and How do I do it ?🙂
@xdwool6222 fireball slide or something
@@Myst1c_OWi should have been more specific. The one that makes you able to ariels really low to the platform
This is almost exactly like rivals 1 movement, dan must have really liked this game
He gave the alpha of R1 early to Project M players to test the mechanics so yeah pretty much
Personally I like rivals 1 plat movement way better than PM plat movement
@@RandomDude647 why's that? does it feel tighter?
Platforms!
Thank you pizza !!
Love the music choice 🤌🏼
man this video is just a good youtube video in general. based music used as well as explaining a tech in 3 minutes. will be using this tech lmao, also I LOVE PROJECT PLUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wavedrops and rundrops (much easier to say) are only the beginning. really the mechanic is that only dashes stop your momentum when dropping through, so you can also maintain momentum when dropping during moonwalk, bidou pivot shenanigans, and even character specific stuff like samus's super wavedash. The sky is the limit tbh. also feel free to reach out if you ever need clips or info of specific tech for one of these videos
Man this narrator is really good gotta love that guy, i wonder if he runs a weekly or something 🤔
Doing such great work on this channel yall 💜
omg that sounds amazing. If I could wish for any movement in a new smash title it would be this! it's so simple and yet so cool and frees up so much!
forreal, if a new smash brought melee and PM plat tech then it would be an instant hit for competitive and probably have more casual players too (because even casuals just wanna hit sick clips sometimes)
@@icegod4849 This. As a casual, playing Rivals of Aether is way more fun to me than modern Smash Bros., because I can find combos on my own and can even execute them without having to look stuff up on the Internet and then practice for hours.
Sick video! I didn't realize these were not in melee.
Side note... Even after the removal of the physics delay, I feel like there's still something about wavedashing that just feels slightly less responsive than melee or similar games like slap city. It could just be my imagination, but idk, I swear I feel it... Does anyone else feel the same way?
damn i never knew about this. so cool to see that pm has depth in ways ive never seen in other platform fighters
In some instances, I feel like PM might have a little too much depth
Still very cool + interesting to hear about & watch though
I've been playing a lot of luigi recently and wavedropping is so important and really sick, I'm gonna have to lab running shield drops with falcon more
plat dropping my beloved...
i love under tale and platforms
I would appreciate if you listed the music used in the description!
project m scene perfected the movement of foreign objects into me
I actually didnt know about running shield dropping!
I always thought ppl just drop while running.
Banger video for me! 🤙
What’s all the music man you’ve got great taste
Gonna have to lab this out…great video
I wish pressing B in shield made you shield drop....
Unrelated but how do you feel about the Shin Godzilla mod for Project M?
It's true.
You can wavedrop with a shield drop right?
Grand chase Elsword like movement
Do either of these two techniques exist in _Melee_ or any other official _Smash Bros._ game, or are both of them exclusive to Project M/Project+?
they are 100% not in melee, and i don't think they're in the other games but im not sure about that
Iirc, there's a similar tech called Voodoo Dash. It's just a wavedash into a shield drop, but it's tricky to pull off, and only a few characters can really get anything from it.
@ComboBreaker95 yeah there's vududashing, it's when you wavedash and do a special move. going airborne while in the animation of a special, like Luigi's neutral-b, keeps yr momentum into the air. it's way more niche than these techs, though
@@ComboBreaker95 essy is right but also voodoo dashing is still in this game, and is applicable to more special moves than people might expect. you get a hilarious amount of mileage during dks side b for example
can you play p+ ez thru slippi or what
2:50 why can't he just run right off the side of the platform and do the aerial? What did dropping through early get him?
Fox just would not have kept the same forward momentum during the fair and maybe couldn't have gotten the dash attack before Knuckles went offstage. The extra distance ended up mattering in this clip but runoff fair is probably good enough most of the time like you said.
Also it looked cool
good video
Yo we need shadow
Is wave dropping in rivals 2
Please write the used music in the description, i will be very appreciative!
first song is field of hopes and dreams by Toby fox, second song is ruins by Toby fox, someone else might know the other ones though
Added!
I miss project m
1:15 song?
Ruins from Undertale
@Tom-Danielson thanks twin!
How is RSD faster than just running off the platform?
you can hit different spots with it, among other things. i think your momentum also transfers into the air differently than jumping, but i'd need to be in front of a setup to confirm that.
@@essy531 ye you do not get anywhere close to the same airspeed if you run or jump off a plat compared to dropping through.
before watching the video - roa can be buffered so no, will report back after watching the video
after watching the video - I owe you an apology, I wasn't really familiar with your game. That's all really cool, happy I watched this and learned about something I may have just interpreted as regular dropping through platforms, take my like.
