I'm steaming my third batch of mushipan! I had to adjust the recipe a bit since I'm on a keto diet (so almond flour and erythritol instead of regular flour and sugar) and used cocoa powder because matcha in Italy is rare and expensive, and I don't have any right now. They're just wonderful, a perfect and quick treat even for me. You'll surely make my last months on a diet so much easy! Thank you
I love your videos! I didn't have matcha at home, so I made coffee chocolate chip mushipan instead (1tbsp instant coffee, regular chocolate chips) I'd never heard of mushipan before, and I really love it! It's so soft and fluffy, and I don't even have to turn on my oven to make it! Great recipe, great video, great duo!
The matcha mushipan looks really delicious! I'm glad you're making recipes with matcha. I bet a lot of people will really enjoy them. Thank you for the video!
I am so excited to give it a try as i am a huge fan of matcha! And this does not requires oven to bake, so it is a plus point for me as i don hav a oven! Haha
Where I'm from, in my grandparents time, only the village Baker had an oven so we have several recipes for boiled and steamed cake. They're delicious. You'll be impressed by the softness achieved. Truly lovely!
Great video!! Brothers, your recipes are absolutely amazing!!! I cannot believe that this was your first time trying this out! The cakes are perfect! On the flip side.....I LOVE the color of your Le Creuset!!! That and the blue are my favorite of all the colors.
Awww... that's looks delicious!! Your cake makes me miss grains! I think I have a sweet potato cake recipe that I might be able to modify to make your green tea cake. BTW, I 💙💚💛💜 matcha!! I don't think I'll get sick of all your matcha recipes!
I LOVE this recipe! I can't wait to try it and it's a double plus because I can make this on the stove! It's super hot on Maryland, so I try not to use the oven as much. Fabulous recipe! I love it! Cant wait to see the next video!
I'm an absolute matcha fiend, so I'm really loving these desserts. Your mushi-pan look fab! I really must make them soon. By the way, as a child, I thought mushi-pan meant bug bread, so I was suspicious of it. So silly. Thanks so much for the recipe!
I've never tried matcha before. You have lots of matcha recipes. I don't think I can find matcha in my local supermarkets; that's sad :( btw the quality of the vid is amazing!
Hi guys, I love this easy recipe, May I know what id matcha brand you are using. I can't seem to find one which has a bright green color like yours. Tq
Hi there! If I want to make the chocolate mushipan, I just swap out the matcha with cocoa powder? Will I need the same amount too? Thank you in advance :D
I am about to try making them. One question. How are they meant to be eaten? Are they usually eaten hot from the steamer, or is it alright to let them cool for eating later? Which tastes better, in your opinion?
They turned out quite well but I don't think mine were as fluffy as yours - maybe because I don't have a proper steamer? (I crumpled aluminium foil and put it in the bottom of the pan) but they didn't have the lovely green colour - more a browny green. I guess the macha here in Israel isn't as good as yours!
I see on many videos the top of the steamed bun is round and smooth, but mine came out cracked with “petals” as I used silicon scallop edged liners. What affects it to remain smooth/ cracked?
love it...but I want to know more about different donburi recipes please. Also I love buckwheat soba...I can make Zaru Soba...but I'd like to know how to make buckwheat soba soup...and isn't this what you eat on new years.
Cool recipe. I think I might try this one out. You know Shinichi, it's funny that you would ask the viewers to say if they are tired of a Matcha recipes or not because in my experience your fans in this comment section are down right hostile about anyone voicing an opinion of anything related to the food you make so good luck to the poor soul that attempts to say they are tired of Matcha.
+Dan B. I think the comment above was actually pointing out at how cute the accent is in a harmless way. Accents are so cute :3 Especially these two. They make me wanna hug them XD
Maria Caligari: I think it does more detriment than good (pointing out things that Atomflunder did). If Satoshi feels anxious with his enunciation, pointing things like this out may make him feel more anxiety. Disgust is defined as "bad taste." I find it disgusting, but that is my opinion. Everyone is welcome to their opinions.
it's a very interesting green tea. Very bitter and grassy as it's the entire leaf ground into powder. It's an expensive ingredient used in traditional tea ceremonies. It's definitely not boring at all. Give it a try..I like the one that's mixed with peach..makes a great soy latte
Why don't you make a video talking about life in Japan...average income, health insurance, if it exists, cost of living, government aid, retirement, etc...

haha! I bought that Le Creuset for Satoshi's birthday 7 years ago. It's his favorite item in the kitchen!
TabiEats......Nice!!!! I don't blame Satoshi!! Aside from my Shun knife, my Le Creuset is my favorite kitchen item. ☺️

FINALLY I WAITED FOR SO LONG

Thanks so much!
Looks so delicious and easy! I think I'd like the adzuki beans better than the chips.
This is so easy to make! Thank you for sharing. 💕 Also, are there any savory versions of mushipan in Japan?
I'm an absolute matcha fiend, so I'm really loving these desserts. Your mushi-pan look fab! I really must make them soon.
By the way, as a child, I thought mushi-pan meant bug bread, so I was suspicious of it. So silly. Thanks so much for the recipe!
Never too much matcha! 😄
You had me @ White Chocolate chips...😋
More Matcha! More! 🤤
YESSS MATCHA CAKE
Where did you get your steamer from? These mushipans look so good!
+Lizzy Rose this steamer actually belongs to Shinichi who's had it for years. Don't know where he got it thougg
If want to make more I just double the portion? And do you use cake flour or all purpose flour for this recipe?
Yum and I just checked there is enough matcha powder in my pantry to make these.😄
+Deborah Thomas-Wilton have fun and hope you enjoy making these
Can you use paper cupcake liner instead if what you used? I don't think I could find the steamer mold.
Yes you can!
Mitzi Stansbury The forms are linked in the description box.
YUMMMMMM
such a nice couple
I've never tried matcha before. You have lots of matcha recipes. I don't think I can find matcha in my local supermarkets; that's sad :(
btw the quality of the vid is amazing!
Thanks so much! We left a link in the description for matcha to purchase online if you like.
Thanks a lot for the link :)
今日は作ってみました.大成功です😂でも,スーパーで抹茶を見つけなかったので,チョコパウダーで作りました 😆
Hi guys, I love this easy recipe, May I know what id matcha brand you are using. I can't seem to find one which has a bright green color like yours. Tq
+Mala S just make sure to look for matcha powder made in Kyoto, preferably from the Uji region:
Thank you. Will look out for it :)
Damn, I'm really envious of your Le Creuset pot
yummy!
Can I use the green tea powder such as from tea bag..
Hi, may i ask whether how much is one cup of flour and 1/3 cup of milk? In terms of grams and ml? And wat kind of flour do u use?
Hi there! If I want to make the chocolate mushipan, I just swap out the matcha with cocoa powder? Will I need the same amount too? Thank you in advance :D
+Jess Kidding I think you can replace it with the same amount of cocoa powder.
for someone who has access to adzuki beans,(im making sweet bean paste this weekend) how would you reccommend putting them into this recipe?
テクスチャーがカップケーキ一緒においしそうに見えます。
I am about to try making them. One question. How are they meant to be eaten? Are they usually eaten hot from the steamer, or is it alright to let them cool for eating later? Which tastes better, in your opinion?
+Pamela J Levene we like them both ways. It's very tasty slightly cooked in the fridge if it's hot outside. Fresh and hot is best though.
They turned out quite well but I don't think mine were as fluffy as yours - maybe because I don't have a proper steamer? (I crumpled aluminium foil and put it in the bottom of the pan) but they didn't have the lovely green colour - more a browny green. I guess the macha here in Israel isn't as good as yours!
p.s. it's Aiya organic tea from Nishio.
I see on many videos the top of the steamed bun is round and smooth, but mine came out cracked with “petals” as I used silicon scallop edged liners. What affects it to remain smooth/ cracked?
god those looks so good ❤️ i'd probs add more white chocos bc i'm a sweettooth haha
love it...but I want to know more about different donburi recipes please. Also I love buckwheat soba...I can make Zaru Soba...but I'd like to know how to make buckwheat soba soup...and isn't this what you eat on new years.
+Teresa Jenkins we actually have a video ok how to make soba soup. Just search for it on our channel. Enjoy
thanks
I think amarena cherries (in syrup) would be great in these mushipan! :)
Ahhhhhhhh
Cool recipe. I think I might try this one out. You know Shinichi, it's funny that you would ask the viewers to say if they are tired of a Matcha recipes or not because in my experience your fans in this comment section are down right hostile about anyone voicing an opinion of anything related to the food you make so good luck to the poor soul that attempts to say they are tired of Matcha.
Is it parchment paper or wax paper?
did you get the metal steamer from Daiso?
Nope. We had this for years and we bought this at Tokyu Hands.
Can these cakes be made with rice flour? I can't eat gluten.
+Annette Moulder it sure can!
Nice :)
If I use a rice cooker to steam these, will the cooking time be the same?
It probably take s little longer because rice cookers need some time to heat ip
Can the milk be substituted with soy or almond milk?
+lamdrea it sure can! Enjoy
Please Shinichi-san and Satoshi-san make the very soft and pillowy Japanese cheesecake! 😄
For an idea, make a cut out of TabiEats logo on paper, place it on top of the cheesecale and sprinkle casting sugar over it. 😊😉
+Lily V we actually did a video on that over a year ago. Please do a search on our channel :)
Green tea 😆
we make steamed cakes like these in the Philippines but with some different extra ingredients and they're called (puto) 💖
Can’t find the recipe link here :(
how would you do this if you don't have muffin paper?
抹茶が好き!!!もっと抹茶から作られる食べ物を作ってください!!!
*インドネシアからのファンでっす!!! ( ੭ ˙ᗜ˙ )੭

*Let's addu the adda*
Satoshi, 4.7.2017 xD
Let's add the other ingredients is what he said. Have some respect for people who speak English as a second language.
i understood what he said.
+Dan B. I think the comment above was actually pointing out at how cute the accent is in a harmless way. Accents are so cute :3 Especially these two. They make me wanna hug them XD
Thats how it is.
Maria Caligari: I think it does more detriment than good (pointing out things that Atomflunder did). Can these be made without the chocolate chips and served as a muffin (something alongside dinner)?
+Dan B. You can definitely make these without the chocolate.
Ah, perfect. Thank you! : )
Satoshi i hate you😭💋 u Makin me HANGRY!😂
What else can you do with matcha other than bake dessert, make ice cream, drink it, and wear it?
+Christina Lim haha:)
I still don't know what matcha is but I'm 100% convinced it's chocolate flavor but better, like chocolate and unicorn jizz
It's green tea
aFiveseven Matcha is a special type of powdered green tea.
MrDiscopunkk that's kinda boring, I was hoping it was something delicious
aFiveseven well many people do consider it very delicious. should try it at least once.
it's a very interesting green tea. Very bitter and grassy as it's the entire leaf ground into powder. It's an expensive ingredient used in traditional tea ceremonies. It's definitely not boring at all. Give it a try..I like the one that's mixed with peach..makes a great soy latte
You do steam a good ham.
Why don't you make a video talking about life in Japan...average income, health insurance, if it exists, cost of living, government aid, retirement, etc...
Tried but fail
make a sugarfree ice cream next time...
