People who will discourage you are the norm. By being ambitious and going after "the impossible," you are posing a major threat to their belief systems. You are hurling big rocks at their glass castle of false excuses in a stormy world of open possibilities. They will fight that tooth and nail. Their survival depends on it. So when you hear their words of discouragement you need to translate them into the appropriate phrases. When they say "Don't do it. It's impossible," "You are not well equipped for this," "You are being unreasonable by taking this course of actions," and similar statements. They are actually saying "Don't you dare prove to me that I'm stuck where I'm in life because I failed to face the truth that I got no one to blame except myself for not achieving what I always wanted to achieve." So instead of hating them or considering them enemies, feel sympathetic toward them. They are like little kids on the beach of a dreaded island watching you setting sail into a stormy ocean toward paradise island. They will scream at you not to get yourself killed, while deep down they cry and wish they could muster the courage to come aboard.

Exactly! I just came to watch this video after one of my family members criticized me for being unable to find a job within three months after being cut off from my workplace due to the covid pandemic.
It hurts so much because they are family. No matter what I do they criticize. I've been labelled and compared with my siblings since childhood.
I think I've gotten used to it and I have accepted it even though I felt so inferior.
This cycle should end.

Brendon, I have been sad for two days trying to deal with hate and lack of support for my ideas and conviction. I have been thinking about how to deal with it. Today I come across this video. I watch this because I strangely find people who unfriend me and then I'm like I really don't care it's whatever. I want to continue doing what I love and sharing it with the world

This is so true, getting support and believing in you from loved ones, if they don't appear to care...it hurts alot and kills motivation. Why is that??? I always support others hobbies and passions and show interest.... they never return that interest..... makes me mad self douchbags.

Good video! When I decided to go for my Master's degree, 2 people who were close to me told me that I couldn't and shouldn't do it while working full time. Well, I did it anyway and years later they also went college/masters program while working on their full time jobs as well. Had I listened to them... Nevermind, you get the point! Lol

Good advice here. Only one question came to mind - at 1.42 where you say “everyone” was negative about your dream. That’s rare man. Usually there’s at least that one family member or friend can see the vision . To have literally everyone around you be so negative about your dream says you did really well to have come through with all those negative people around you!

There is a tough of war in saying dont care about what other people think vs follow your dream. Your dream needs to serve people. Because we create content that people want/need. And the only we know we are doing something that is serving others and that our dream is right is through feedback.

His point is that, those people who you are going to serve and those criticizing you are not the same people. If you listen to the haters you'll never get to the other ones you are supposed to reach. The more someone is famous, the more they are hated by some and loved by others.
Thats an interesting perception. I did not get that on the first take.
I would also say that while you are working towards your goal, some people might not think that you can get there, and might dissuade you from trying. You then have a choice: do you buy into their idea that you can't do it, or do you prove them wrong?
Yes. Also, plenty of artists of all kinds' work was most appreciated after they died. They maybe didn't get good feedback during their lifetimes (Cezanne is a great example, but there are lots of others) but then their work served thousands after they died. Or it can sometimes take time for people to appreciate what you're doing. Brendon is a good example - he's become successful, partly by ignoring some negative feedback early on.
I've been suffering from anxiety, panics (after ending a long toxic relation) since 1.5 month. I listen these manifesting videos, do yoga, exercise etc tryin best to recover but there are times I come back to the same worst condition. Also, parents fight regularly (dad fights alot)& seeing mom get stressed makes my condition more worse. I get so anxious and feel like crying. I DONT KNOW WHATS HAPPENING. Somebody help please. Badly want to get out of it and live my dreams in life.

Utsah Arya, check out Kati Morton''s RUclips Channel for more specific helpful videos on mental health issues. And go find a therapist urgently! As a quick fix, prepare one room or corner at home as your refuge to go to when overwhelmed. Keep it clean, tidy and cozy so you feel safe there. Or go outside to move whenver you get distressed. Whatever works for you, find out. At least breathe! And call a friend if possible.

I have too. I think social anxiety. Ive been having great fear towards people that they might hurt me all the time but Im learning to gain back my focus. For myself. Youre not alone. Lots of people are battling in that situation

Right now I probably shouldn't be here, because I'm kinda late for a project I have to deliver. But it's ok, because this is kinda of a part of the question I got to you.
I agree when you say that it's not the world's responsibility to support your dream.
And even though I don't fully agree with this model, we stil live in a world where some/most of us have to provide for ourselves or for the ones we love.
Thank God I have a family that can provide for myself. But I hope for the days where I'll do it myself fullfilling my dream.
So my question is... What if you're afraid that what you have to do, what you have to say, the dream you have to fullfill is not going to be supported (aka going to allow you to make enough money to provide at least to yourself) by anyone.
I'm afraid of that because right now, what I kinda feel that I have to do would go against beliefs in my own head, probably even against some of your beliefs (even though I said I love the things that I know you do in your job) and probably against many of the world's beliefs. Not in a hurtfull way, but in a reflexive way.
Would you still say that we have to do it?
I guess that's it.

I'm only here because I've been sober for 1 week and it's hard to move on & do what I really want to do in life. But I don't have a dream. I don't have good financial situation either. I'm only needed to pay bills & maintain my familys circumstances. I'm in my mid 20's & it sucks to be stuck in poverty throughout my life. Got no kids or girlfriend or anybody to support me. My heart is full of sadness, anger & confusion. My objective has become for me to please my family & friends whilst I suffocate in silence with a bottle right next to me which has literally become my other half. Well, I hope day something gives to me. I am suicidal but also an fighter. So I won't go down that easily. Thanks for reading my comment & have a good day.

I just have to say thank you. I found you through your "3 questions" video on Goalcast and your speech was very moving. I mean no disrespect in the slightest though when I ask, can you please have one camera angle, preferably facing the "audience" so that it is as though you are talking to us? I have a short attention span and the changing angles lead my frustratingly bad concentration away from what is being said. Much love! X :)
Nice one Brendon. Maybe you could experiment with the camera switches a little more, sometimes it was a little shaky. I like a constant lighting better, in which you look sharp handsome and your eyes look blue!
