Cameraman Richard Terry travels to the remote Alaskan wilderness to film the extraordinary world of a man who chooses to live with wild, brown bears…
Swiss biologist David Bittner has spent the last seven years forging intimate relationships with these feared predators in the same area of Alaska where Timothy Treadwell was infamously mauled by a grizzly. Now, for the first time, he’s let someone in to capture his remarkable life.
In this second episode, summer turns to autumn and bear man David Bittner goes in search of one of nature’s most spectacular events; the annual salmon run. It happens just once a year and attracts scores of hungry bears, but they will have to brave some of harshest conditions on the planet if they are to make it.

I was going to say at least they weren't nuts like Treadwell. I saw and electric fence and bear spray. But when I saw how close they were getting to the bears I started to question that.

This is a really great documentary. Lately I've been obsessed with Timothy Treadwell and his tragic story. While Bittner seems to be a little more grounded in reality than Tim (and takes more common sense precautions like having bear spray and an electric fence), I still worry the same thing could happen to him. I hope I am wrong.

All sushi has been frozen before served. That kills whatever still in the fish . Just saying 😊

iirc the bear which killed Treadwell was killed by rangers. Doesn’t seem fair. This guy understands if he gets killed the bears which kill him are going down?

He seems like a very nice person BUT I have a HUGE issue with someone putting themselves so close in proximity to these Apex predators, and a biologist no less !! Its clear that he has a true obsession with seeing how close he can get to these respectable predators. But as science and history dictates, people placing anthramorphic traits onto animals set themselves up for disaster . These are animals, not humans - not friends - not family. Many people in Alaska find this kind of activity to be reckless, and ultimately a huge risk to the bears. If an accident or mauling would occur , it is almost certain death sentence for that bear. Spending 6 weeks in Katmai to film is pretty amazing though- I am very glad it went well for the most part. Hopefully this footage will not have to be referenced to in retrospect ala Timothy Treadwill.

We must’ve been watching a completely different video. This guy is nothing like treadwell and out of all people on earth to be qualified to be this close to document bears a biologist would be #1 on that list. He was particularly careful around the bears and knew in what circumstances he could get close and in what circumstances it was best to back off and leave the area.

Nutter, treadwell the 2nd, sorry but it's a disaster waiting to happen.

People who think this biologist is anything like treadwell are complete fools.
