I've only just had it start happening yesterday for some reason but on my Lenovo Tablet
Same here. On my Samsung tablet it happened. It would start in the right position then when I would minimize it would flip it to portrait mode and wouldn't go back. Clearing the data worked. Thanks!

I've recently started experiencing an issue where when going full screen, the youtube app only rotates in one direction. For example I have to hold the top of the phone in my left hand otherwise the video is upsidedown :( I tried the fix described in your video but it does not work :(

same, it also happens to my whole phone, i can only play games in one direction. Like Roblox and Among us, they only face left
I powered my phone off, turned it back on again, and it had righted itself x
@@mrmactknife i just did it. it didnt work for me. I just recently dropped my phone in the river and i think the water messed up the sensors or something to where it wont turn right anymore.

Another (faster) way to get to the clear cache and data option : long press on your youtube app icon and click on app info
It's not "another" way. he literally talks about this method at 1 minute and a half in.
@@MysteryD listen to the video again. He says to clear cache in youtube , go to settings, scroll down to apps and scroll down to youtube and click on storage. Im saying to get to storage faster, just long press the RUclips icon and select app info and you're there much faster!

Finally, a solution to the problem. So annoying trying to find another vid to watch mid raid only for the screen to flip and refuse to flip back. Thank you so much for this.

My problem is I want my screen rotation off. Which is fine and for RUclips when I would go fullscreen I could turn my phone left or right and it would rotate accordingly while my phone rotate is off. But now it only turns to the left unless I have my rotate on.
I know most people will just say "turn on your screen rotate". But that's the thing. I don't want it on. It used to work fine, now it doesn't. Is there a fix for this. I've tried restarting and it didn't help.

At the beginning I cleared only the cache, and it didn't work. I was afraid cleaning the data, but I did it, and now it's working, and everything is fine. Don't be afraid cleaning the data.👍🏻📱🔄

You saved me from losing my mind. I kept reeboting my phone and it only fixed it temporarily. RUclips was not rotating almost every time I opened a video. I didn't realize it was just RUclips, until I watched your video. I also learned that it is safe to clear data and cache on any aps. In the past I was afraid to clear the data because it gave me a warning message and watching your video, I felt it was safe to do so. Thanks for informing and sharing.
The lack of auto rotate was making me nuts. I inadvertently turned it off. Doh! As always, thanks for the tip! It is working again!

Had this issue after replacing my 3 year old s21 ultra via insurance. Worked at first then would not rotate. Glad this video still works.

Damn my auto rotate somehow got switched off..
Thing is... i had no idea my pull down option screen could be pulled down a second time to open more options...
As soon as you did it in your video ... i was like wait .. what... what was that... WHAT THE HELL... NO WAY!!! you can pull down a second option screen... i never saw it... i tried it... and sum of the rich sure enough i could pull that second option screen and sure enough my screen rotate was OFF.. i never touched it though... how did it get turned off...

As a RUclipsr, I like it on top and not expanded on bottom. Some only watch videos to read comments. I'd rather those watch what they came for... the video. Plus to comment, its right now there. No need to scroll down

Haven't watched the video yet but what I do is set up a Bixby routine for auto rotate enabled when you launch certain apps like RUclips, Twitch, Netflix, Hulu etc! Super simple and super easy!

In 2022, after RUclips app update, when video is playing, tap on the screen. You will see pause, forward & backwards. Look at bottom right of screen for a small square. Tap on it, the screen will rotate from portrait to landscape. Troublesome if your smartphone screen is small relative to your finger. Cheers.
This sh#t is so annoying. It happens when I start running on the treadmill! Then I'm running and holding my phone trying to fix it! 😂 Glad to have another option!

It's too bad the RUclips app won't STAY in landscape mode. It's especially noticeable when casting to the tv and a video ends, I tap back to select another video and the screen changes to portrait mode. I haven't picked up the phone or moved it in anyway short of tapping the back button. I then have to pick up the phone and turn it, shake it, etc. to get it back in landscape, every freaking time I want to choose another video. Why won't it stay in the freaking aspect that I JUST used and use nearly every time I view a video? Do the people that made this app ever use the damn thing?

Man I love this video ... for the past 4 days my screen wasn't rotating and it was annoying me. I normally leave my screen on landscape mode but on RUclips it automatically flip when I flip my phone

i also have a problem that when i leave youtube sometimes my wallpaper gets rotatet and i dont know why.... it stays wrong until i rotate my phone or open and leave RUclips again! what the heck is this

@@allardvangasteren4588 i dont know... In the last few months this didnt happen any more.... Maybe change your wallpaper and then change it back.. Im on OneUi 2.5 currently

This fixes the issue --- temporarily, then within a few app restarts the problem occurs again and you have to repeat the whole process over again... Android version 12. . . VERY frustrating
Is there anyway to watch every video on full screen portrait mode?
Ok! Here we go! I figured it out. Was recently experiencing my screen being stuck in "Portrait" view. Regardless of going into my settings, nothing would stay permanently.
So I noticed now vs 2yrs ago - We are all likely using a mirroring app to cast our phone. Well, after my "Weblink Host App" was updated, it overrided my phone settings. If Weblink Host is open in the background, it will override your phone settings - preventing "auto rotate" to function properly. Now we I leave the car - I have to remember to "force stop" Weblink Host, and close the app.
My phone has been working fine ever since. Found this post last month. Although it's a couple yrs old. I thought I'd comment and share. I hope this helps! ✌🏾

My sons Amazon fire 7 was driving me mad with an advertisement at the bottom where the utube rotation option was, I could only find it in portrait mode, so I cleared catche & data then had to sign back in, it worked woohoo 👏 🙌 👍he can again watch on bigger screen, thanks. Also turning off background usage on apps that run in background can help with some issues.

I haven't had this issue until this past week when I got a new phone (s22). Was previously using an S9 and have never had any issues. Suddenly, I do. I've been needing to completely close out of RUclips and then go back in to fix it again.

For iPhone when you scroll down it’s portrait orientation. The lock button. Make sure that’s off
Still not rotating. On the youtube homepage it does rotate when rotate my phone. But when watching a video it doesn't...

Omg, thank you so so much, yes it did fix the problem, after the last up date, I could see the video in landscape, when I went to close it down it all went into portrait, after which I had close the app and go back in. Thank you

It worked thanks! I ran into this problem the other day.
I did something different. I Uninstalled updates. And problems were resolved. Also, power phone down, into main menu, ( volume up while pressing bixby( must have power functionality assigned)
Then volume down to clear cache.. toggle back to reboot. Reboot, and glitches removed ( conflicted programs data, info, settings etc. )
It worked for me. Good luck
