The fruit you can collect also loosely resembles enemies from Bomberman.
After you finish Bomberman, the end message says, "Bomberman is now runner, see you again in lode runner".

I remember finishing Bomberman on NES decades ago.
The ending was Bomberman turning a lode runner. This explains why there's Bomberman enemies in this game. I always questioned myself if this game had any connection to Bomberman or not

I don't know why I prefer the enemies in Lode Runner to have Bomberman sprites. It's kinda fitting and very funny as you exploit their quirky AI behavior. Then again, this is the very first Lode Runner game in its series that I ever played, so it's nostalgic to me. Very good super play, by the way!
That's because the NES version of Lode Runner was developed by Hudson Soft...

As a kid I never understood this game :P I remember I'd make the hole thinking *I* had to go underground to escape bomberman or something and lmao i would die instead x'D Lol i get it now

I remember one review of this game being named "What a lode of disappointment". And it always reminds me of this game lol. The NES version tries to be cool but the originals where you can see the whole screen were a whole lot better.

So I think the game will repeat and your last ending score will be added to the game after so you'll have the highest score ever
