  • CORRECTION: We cracked and moved this truck 3 years before!! Sorry, we forgot! FIRST START & DRIVE? 1987 Ford F150 - Yard ABANDONED to ROADWORTHY! Ignition Actuator Install
Check Out this video: • FIRST WASH in YEARS! 1...
Check Out the RevStories Channel: / @revresale
The "Ole Man" abandoned this 1987 Ford F150 years ago. The Ignition Switch Actuator would not allow him to crank from the inside so he let trees grow up around it. Will the years of abandonment cause the truck to stay in its grave? Will this good ole truck crank again? Will be be able to fix the ignition issue? Will this truck start for the first time in years? Will it drive for the first time in years? Can the Rev and the Ole Man bring this Ford back to the road? All these questions answered on this episode of RevStoration.

Hey Rev. Good to see you guys again. In my opinion those years of Ford Trucks were some of the best. I purchased a 1988 F-150 Lariat. It was a great truck. I put over 400,000 miles on it and sold it to a guy that still may be driving it. God Bless and keep the videos coming.

I agree. Old Ford's are amazing trucks. My grandpa had a 79 F100 with a 302. When he sold it the truck had 320,000 miles or so on it and there was no major work done to it.

Old Ford's are awesome. My dad had a 1988 Ford F250 and it was a good Ole truck. Dad says out of all the trucks he has owned it went into 4wd the easiest. He sold it to his cousin and he still drives it and uses it as a wood hauler. Great video as usual

I have a 1989 F150 XLT Lariat it has EFI and I have never done any engine work to it I am the 3rd owner and Have 160,000 miles on it and it still runs great starts the first time every time. On mine I did have the same problem with the ignition switch but I was able to wire a relay a relay to the solenoid with a momentary toggle switch under the dash and it starts fine. Mine has the same 5.0 Liter engine. I have hauled more than 1 ton loads with my F150 and it doesn't even compress the overload springs. Mine with 160,000 miles still has plenty of power. I have worked on it before on my RUclips Channel. Never doubted it for a minute that your F150 would be a runner they are one tough truck.

I know these trucks way too well. Great trucks. From personal experience, I'd suggest ordering new fuel tanks and sending units and get that out of the way. I've replaced a few of them on old F150s and it's well worth it. You also might want to replace the parking brake cable..they are notorious for breaking..

The problem with idle may be the idle air control valve. First you can try taking it off and cleaning with brake clean . If that doesn't work get a Motorcraft replacement. The aftermarket ones from the parts store will not work properly. I have had several of these trucks and have experimented with many different fixes when it comes to the idle on them. Good Luck.

Greetings from Scotland Rev & Ol’ man….. That’s a fine looking truck. Once it’s been washed and polished up, and given a little mechanical love & attention, it will give Ol’ Puddin a run for its money.
Nice job fixing the ignition & steering column. Sometimes these footery jobs ( that’s a Scottish word for awkward, slightly complicated requiring nimble finger work )can be worse than the major mechanical repairs.
I hope you show us a before and after Rev, both inside and outside. It would be great to see it suited & booted ready for the future.
    As always…great video & thanks
    John

It would be interesting to see The Old Man get ahold of an 89 F250 2 wheel drive with the 460 and 5 speed stick in it. I had one that I swapped the rear end out of an E250 van into because the one in it was bad and that thing could get out and fly. I had a heavy old over the cab camper with a 3 ft rear overhang for the bathroom on it and that camper was HEAVY. Even with that camper on it I could get 3 gears of squealing tires out of it with ease. My brother had a 97 F150 4x4 with the 5.4L in it that had a performance chip in it that was pretty fast but even with the camper on mine from a dead stop I would outrun him every time up to 75 which was as fast as I was willing to go on the roads around here with that monstrosity of a camper in the box. A couple times I thought I was going to dump it right out of the box of the truck onto the road.

Excellent video Rev :) & Ole Man :) also get some 91 octane gas with fuel injection cleaner fuel tank and for Brake pedal lube up plunger piston in cab with grease plus gas pedal wire plus on motor too grease have one of 2 men push pedal to floor grease up engine also on linkeage in motor and plus pedal wire too! Also spring helps to but don't want to tight one or get gas stuck just feel free! Yes Rev need keep that truck in great shape to for parts Hauler or anything and linkeage fix in Steering wheel common in all Ford , GM , Dodge , Toyota, Mazda and Nissan plus Datsun trucks , vans , cars plus any from key ignition switch models in 1974 to present years just lots use that all Rev and Ole Man! My old 1978 GMC 25 3/4 ton truck did to him one time many years ago and his was Netural Safety Switch on bottom on dash also had wire in so work again that copper rod pop out thin wire used to that! Ole Man correct what he said might be problem to that most common happens Rev ! Yes dad learned lots in drive years how fix stuff I bet got going in few hours driving again !

If your gas gauge works it has a full tank. That is a win.

Cool to see the revival of it. My opinion personally the EFI trucks are some of the worst fords made especially the early ones. Extremely complicated and lots to fail. But sweet truck
