A battle with the Decepticons leaves Red Alert's logic and reason circuits fried. As a result, Red becomes paranoid and believes that his own fellow Autobots are plotting to betray him. Starscream discovers the situation and he tricks the paranoid Red Alert into helping him steal an experimental weapon. Now, the Autobots must save Red Alert before he explodes.

I love that Inferno doesn't hesitate to plunge into the fire to save Red Alert. A true fire engine!
If you think about it, he's actually fulfilling his character bio. He'll do his job, but earlier in the episode his love for combat distracted him from it.

It also shows how good of a friend he is given he wasn't gonna leave Red by himself and how the two are buddies.

I don't know if you remember the TF storybooks from 1984-1985 that came with a record or cassette. In those, he ALWAYS insulted Soundwave! I hated that! (Those were pretty neat, but only used about 5 actors. The only characters with speaking roles were the narrator, Optimus, Prowl, Megatron and Soundwave. I remember especially Satellite of Doom, and When Continents Collide)

I felt bad for Red Alert, because his logic circuits got fried, he was confused, and felt everyone was against him.
The main concern for the autobots in that situation was that they had to find red before he hurts himself, or anyone else

It's amusing how this episode secured Red Alert's personality as a total paranoid, when in the episode, it was only the result of damage from that explosion. But it seems like every bit of fiction since then makes Red this absolutely neurotic character.

I like to believe he was always on the verge of a complete psychotic breakdown and the events of this episode just tipped him over the edge...a timebomb waiting to explode.
In the Netflix war for cybertron series it showed Red alert as the company medic so maybe he has a case of ptsd before ratchet rejoined the team

It's just so refreshing to return to these characters, their stories. To go back to the time when good always won out in the end. This is just so bright and positive.
No matter how old you are, every now and again we have to take a break from the stress and negativity of the so called real world. Where constantly being stressed and under the gun is considered a hallmark of adulthood.
Yea I do like complex stories but it’s always nice to go back to the simple Good vs evil story

You know, I was saying something like this lately. Both Star Wars and Transformers had clear good and evil back then. So many people praise Rogue One, but I hated it. The Rebels seemed as bad as the Empire to me. And with the Transformers, it seems how much attitudes have changed since the 80s by just this fact: back then the police car was the good guy, now he (Barricade) is a bad guy. This world just gets worse and worse! I do find it a comfort though to know that as the Bible says, this is actually a sign that soon God will step in and fix things

When starscream said “I would’ve blasted you in the back” it was likely a hint for Red Alert’s death in the movie because he was shot in the back by Decepticons, but his scene with Ultra Magnus, sideswipe, and tracks never happened because it was a deleted scene so they never showed Red Alert’s death.
That whole thing at 8:58 is friggin hilarious! I love this show so much! 😂🤣

I love this episode the ending is so sweet and red alert is one of my favorite autobots, I suffer with anxiety and paranoia too so red alert is a bit relatable to me

This episode shows true careness. Regardless of what you go thru with family or friends. No matter how pretty big the problems are with your family friends. In the end. Extreme care and forgiveness is there. And Optimus saw that he had too much care for the negavator to the point where it was causing a rift between him and red alert's dysfunctional problem. Along with the rest of the autobots. And prime showed where he was wrong at in the end also. That's why Optimus will always be the best. Regardless of his total worrying. But atleast in these episodes he shows more aggression than he did in the one on Netflix. He was just too soft in that netflix one. That's why he will always be the best in these episodes. Power to Optimus Prime in these episodes.

I always thought the idea of the bunker in this episode was interesting. All the other tanks down on level 9 made me think this might not just be an autobot base. I wonder if this was supposed to be a joint venture base so autobots could work more closely with humans to help then defend themselves from the decepticons?
I also liked how while they were not the main characters we got to see a little of Grapple and Hoist's friendship. I thought it was interesting how the writers chose those two to have their own partnership of sorts going on even though they didn't have anything in common with their vehicle or robot modes. It just made me happy that the writers took that kind of license to flush out their personalities a bit more.

plot summary: Megatron tells soundwave to take on the autobots by himself and surprise pikachu faces when he fails. Rumble 360 noscopes red alert through a bunker and turns him into tyler1. Smokescrean 1v4s jets with his vape. Megatron fails to capture the demonetization vator. There is something wrong with red alert, he needs immediate repairs. Starscream is sadge because his friends left him. Ironhide is racist. Starscream makes a new friend. Plot contrivance keeps the autobots from finding red alert. Starscream schemes and red dreams. Negavator took it to 9. Prime reallyyyyy should have considered that. The What??? Red Alert finger blasts a hole. Starscream does it better. Prime cant let them take the demonetization vator. Prime lets them take the demonetization vator. Megatron misunderstands. Starscream shoots to heal. Autobot isnt bluffing. Starscream is smarter/more cowardly then megatron. The Demonitization vator is destroyed, red alert is saved. Red Alert says 11 words with the mouth movements of 30. Decepticon victory.
This was one of my favourite episodes from season 2 mainly because we got to see Red Alert who is one of my favourite Autobots in a big role and it made for a nice change of pace watching an Autobot yell at his own teammates while his paranoia went into sheer overdrive.
Side note: this was the only time that Megatron ever chewed out Soundwave for his failure

The animation is this episode is superb.
I'm not quite there on that, however there were some impressively unique visuals, like how Frenzy barreled into Prime, and how Prime started going ham with his weapon.

Red Alert having a mental health crisis was something I never expected in all honesty. I don’t remember this episode but it’s nice to see something like this discussed

Transformers is one of those animated shows, that can handle mature subjects, such as Mental Health, really well, in a time when mental Health issues (In this case, paranoia ) were not as openly talked about, as they are today.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't stop thinking about drsmoov's Autobot Alert video while watching this episode.

@@ms16794 not just that but the Decepticons were really dumb. Everytime they do some big plan to gets tons of energy it involves destruction to earth. If they partnered with some government to get energon from renewable resources and decided not to try and "conquer" earth they could easily have gained all the energon they could ever want. All without constantly battling the Autobots and if they took a non-combative stance with the Autobots on earth, either they would've won or the Autobots would've been forced off earth.

It is written, only Optimus Prime can defeat Megatron.
His and other Autobots' energy was low, so they have to secure the negavator first and then look out for Red Alert later.

What a great episode! It had a good and interesting story, character development, funny jokes that cracked me up and emotional moments.

It could still be surprising to actually see something with your own eyes for the first time that you've only read about or heard someone else tell you about before. Think about seeing some exotic animal at the zoo or a fighter jet at an air show.
The lesson of this episode:
Real friends tell you need to hear and not just what you want to hear.
This is one of my favourite episodes for sure, I love red alert!
The autobots are coughing and they don't have Lungs.
Why do they have moving mouths to speak, then? Mouths move to alter the passage of air, which changes the sound of that air. So perhaps they have artificial lungs to go with their artificial mouths and techno-lips?
In TF:Zone, Predaking appears to have an organic brain inside his robot head.
I am fascinated by the thought that the G1 TF Creators were obviously so inspired by organic beings (specially humanoids) that they based the appearance and much of the physiology of the TFs on them. They could have gone entirely down the insectoid or Bayverse pile-of-space-trash route, but they didn't.
I'm sure a lot of us have read the techspecs that came with the original g1 Transformers toys, saw one, and said, that character resonates with me. Me personally Inferno's techspec really resonates with me. On Inferno's techspec, it says "He often gets distracted from performing his job to engage in combat." The reason that resonates with me is that when I was in high school, I would often go to the bathroom and on my way back I would always run into some friends and talk to them about stuff, I would also sometimes on my way to class would see some friends doing something that looked fun and talked with them about it, much to the annoyance of the people in charge of my school, but like sideswipe says "I don't break rules, I bend them, a lot!" Guess you could say my personality is a combo of SIdeswipe and inferno!
This weapon was kind of superfluous to Megatron since Shockwave was able to make machines disappear with his arm gun in "Desertion of the Dinobots Part 2."

In the episode scramble city, ultra Magnus was the supervisor and the protectno bots, mainly first aid and hot spot were the cheif engineers.
