    9:20. Don't you think d3 is asymmetry for both HS and LS? Because I think the more unpaired electron will be asymmetric. And in both HS and LS, they have the same number of unpaired electrons.

    Thanku so much sir for every lectures ....I hv doubt in video tht d4 low spin complex you discussed for z in or out why do I fill dxy in z out it is low spin so I should be paired I think

  • @bedantaupadhyay672
    @bedantaupadhyay672 5 лет назад +1

    Sir at 38:57 , when you were discussing unstability of chelating complexes mentioned that [Cu(en)3]2+ will undergo Jahn Teller distortion and this will cause an elongation in the axial bonds. So my question is - how did you know this will undergo Z-out splitting? I mean, we can't predict it. So can we take any of the elongation - axial or equatorial, since both of them will finally make the complex unstable for sure?

    • @AllBoutChemistry
      @AllBoutChemistry  5 лет назад +2

      Yes definitely, since we can't predict which elongation or compression it will undergo, but this is sure that there will be changes in bond length along axial and equitorial positions, so there will be unstability. But yes you're correct that elongation and compression can't be predicted.

      Same problem maine face Kiya Hain, d4 hs mein z in aur z out ka dono choice hain, jin mein se Z in favourable hoga..but d4 ls mein bas ek hi choice milta Hain, woh hain Z out..sare 4 electrons dxz aur dyz mein filled honge...

  • @bedantaupadhyay672
    @bedantaupadhyay672 5 лет назад +3

    Sir, at 33:09 you were discussing d4 low spin and since in case of low spin, electrons are paired up in the lower energy levels before going to fill the electrons in higher energy levels. So, shouldn't dxz and dyz orbitals be filled up completely before moving ahead to fill the dxy orbitals? Or since all the orbitals in t2g level are degenerate, we have to follow the hund's rule while filling up the electrons?

    • @beautyofscience7612
      @beautyofscience7612 2 года назад +2

      Yes in case of d4 low spin but t2g orbital is split so dxz, dyz and dxy all are the orbitals of t2g so must be filled wd electrons... Delta O is overall not only t2g.

  • @mariaph9700
    @mariaph9700 6 лет назад +2

    thank you for the video!
    However can you please explain on 33:05 in the z out case, you put electron on the 1 electron in dxy, 1 electron in dxz, 2 electrons in the dyz? because as I understand as a low spin cmpd, I get 2 electrons in the dxz and 2 electrons in the dyz (the 2 lowest orbitals in the energy diagram).

    Question at 36.06 should have (b) option also as the answer. Term symbol for d5 is S and in case of S the ground term is A1g.
    If i am wrong please correct me.

    • @rajatrodney6327
      @rajatrodney6327 5 лет назад

      Your argument makes sense, Himani. 1 unpaired e- in t2g set has got only one way of occupancy, i.e , the degeneracy here is 1C1. Hence, the ground-state term symbol A1g is a valid option.

    • @bharathvinjamuri7858

      The ground state for low spin d5 is T1g.the A1g is the ground state for high spin d5
