    Well you have more patience than I . I find tech support infuriating these days even with the big companies where years ago they use to be great. Apple, Sonos in particular , as you mentioned they ask the stupidest questions. My sense is they do not have real techs anymore as the 1st line call takers, so they can save money. The people answering have a very limited scope of what they can trouble shoot. One time one was reading out loud from the manual the comes with the product to find an answer - I had read it thoroughly , it is very short. The person kept putting me on hold for every question , one time she said “ can you hold please , I’ll ask tech support “ I said politely ,” oh can you please put me through to tech support ?? “ she replied “ I am tech support “ and would not escalate my call. After several calls like this I gave up and seek tech help from users groups. I’ll bet these are generic call centres where non techs are train to take calls for very basic support of several different companies’ products. Hope you get better service.

    I think there are some models with that problem. I have the CQ 20B and I have never had problems with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. In live sound I left the CQ on the stage and I went in front of the stage (approximately 25 to 30 feet) and it did not disconnect and that is without an external router. everything is with the internal wifi. With bluetooth the same thing, I put on music, I took my cell phone and it keeps playing. They should make a change because I have seen this problem with the CQs that have the internal screen.

      After I posted this video the US distributor contacted me and swapped out my mixer for a new one. My understanding is they were going to send mine back to Allen & Heath so they could investigate the failure point. The "assumption" is that my antenna got disconnected internally. Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi utilize the antenna. This is exactly why I generally have a policy of not buying the first production run of a product. Because essentially you become the beta tester. Lol I assume they will probably modify the antenna connection if that's the issue and make it more stable. I will say my new mixer is working perfectly. I would have bought the Yamaha dm3 if it had an automatic mic mixer. I think Yamaha really missed the mark with the corporate market by leaving out that feature.

    • @BillyBlaze7
      @BillyBlaze7 8 месяцев назад

      @@TheAngrySoundTech Yeah thats the model I was looking at, its between the two mixers. Being that I am confident in mixing with a conventional mixer I am ok with using the yamaha. But it would be nice have some auto features to get you close. Although it would likely only be me and my guitar most times so not much mixing going on, in fact I mix my guitar on my guitar preamp most of the way and I am confident in the eqing that needs to be done on my Audix OM-7 but still like you say it would be nice having that set of features but after seeing so many complaints on these things Im not sure i trust buying one now. You are 100% correct on buying the first run of anything. I'm glad you got it sorted out. If you ever need the best feedback rejecting stage mic the Audix OM7 is unbeatable but you gotta eat the mic, and it takes some training to get used to controlling the pull offs to trail vocals but once you figure it out you wont use anything else.
      Thanks for sharing your experiences with gear, seems me and you gravitate to similar items...best wishes on future gear my friend

      There has to be something wrong with my mixer. Allen & Heath so far is kind of giving me the runaround. I just sent them in images taken with Wifi analyzer so they can see the wifi signal strength and how weak it is at 24 inches from the mixer. I'm not sure why they won't let me just send the mixer in so they can see it in person. They keep telling me they are looking into it with their R&D team...

    Mine works well I had bluetooth playing walking around with my iphone 13 for a few hours, about 25’ and onto the second floor with no interruptions. The app also worked at the same time running on an ipad Air. I haven’t taken it out on gigs yet, still using my (now outdated) QSC TouchMix. I never trusted wifi all the way, I like mixers which have some type of local on board control. Although very practical to drop on stage, I’d never buy the QC 20 B.

      I can connect bluetooth to mine, but I can't hear any audio when I try to play Spotify from my phone to the CQ. On Config section I highlight a channel then select the usb/SDHC as the Input Source. I don't see any input, and there is no sound. Do you have any advice? Thanks.

    • @mannykeller
      @mannykeller 11 месяцев назад +1

      My Bluetooth comes in at channel 21 / 22, I don't think the USB/SDHC is the right setting for bluetooth connections. Selecting USB/SDHC is disabling the channel and meant for streaming from the USB host (in my case my Macbook Pro connected via USB cable) or an SD card inserted into the CQ-18T

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  11 месяцев назад

      Yes the firmware is up to date. Also I am using newer tablets. The fact that Bluetooth disconnects if you move the tablet 3 feet away from the mixer is a little ridiculous and I can't even be 10 to 15 feet away and the Wi-Fi disconnects. I don't see how this is usable on a stage let alone in a venue.

      Keith from Allen & Heath got involved and said it looks like I have an issue with my antenna as both Bluetooth and WiFi use it. He recommended I just return it since it's within their 30 day DOA policy but I already threw the box 😬 so I ordered another one to use while this one is in getting fixed.

    I just watched a sound tech that had a killer mix with an excellent country band & he was talking about how he could connect 100’ feet away with wifi not Bluetooth. Just sayin.
    I’m about to find out. My CQ is supposed to be delivered this Friday. He also used Bluetooth for music so it must be certain models. Have you contacted Allen & Heath? Also how old is your iPad. I work with a sound company & we found older iPads don’t work well, also if you bought it from apple it shouldn’t be a problem but many iPads that were sold from whoever might give you issues. I’ve experienced this just recently. My son bought a new iPhone last January from Verizon & got an iPad free. Gave me all kinds of problems & the Apple Store updated a bunch of firmware & other ????. Worked better but it’s not the real deal even though it’s an iPad.
    Really sorry you’re having an issue. I’ve used Qu series for a lot of music events & never had any problems but there again I had an excellent router & ipad connection. As things get updated & all these new Bluetooth frequencies are changing, people are starting to have issues communicating.
    You seem to just be complaining. Try doing your research first.

      I'm using a 9th generation ipad that I bought within the last year. I use this iPad multiple times a week as it's my main tablet that I use when doing sound check. I typically use an external wireless router with an M32 or X32 Compact depending on the event. The other tablet I tested the unit with was a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. It is a slightly older tablet I bought from Costco. This tablet is typically my Spotify playback tablet but I have used it with mixing station many times in combination with an M32 or X32 and an external wireless router. Bluetooth was also tested on a Google Pixel 7 Pro and a Google Pixel 7a. Excluding gear rentals I make like 90% of my income as an A1 Sound Tech. This is not my first rodeo.

      Perhaps in my next video I'll read the back and forth emails with Allen & Heath. They still have not agreed to take the item back for warranty repair. They so far have been insisting their products are 100% tested before shipping and that there simply couldn't be a problem with the mixer. I ordered a second one today. I'll be posting a comparison video on Friday and if Allen & Heath continues to refuse to service my mixer I'll really be putting them on blast on RUclips. For the record I waited until I got my initial reply from tech support before posting the video and sending the link to tech support. Had they just issued an RMA and fixed my mixer I wouldn't be on RUclips knocking their product.
