    All your precise instructions/advices would be made in a hour video of typical RUclipsrs. There are few guys like you who know how to present stuff.
    Thank you!!

    This is such great advice, I hope your viewership increases and more young engineers will see this. If there is one single thing that will let an aspiring engineer jump to the front of the line & get more or better jobs, it's having your own console, and practicing your mixes using the "virtual sound check" capability. The difference between live and studio sound engineering is that when you are live, you have to get it right the first time. This is where lots of practice using your recorded tracks can really give you the edge over other engineers who just show up & do the bare minimum. It won't be exactly the same, since there's no danger of feedback in the virtual sound check, and sometimes you are going to need some funky EQ in a reverberant room to tame feedback or deal with unruly FoH speakers, but you can definitely get to the point where all the basics are second nature and your hands just make the right moves naturally.
    The A&H CQ family look really nice, and the price seems reasonable for what they offer. Never used one yet, but there are plenty of other options if you don't have this particular model. If you are in the market for a mixer, then check the specs & make sure what you buy can do multi track recording. The small premium you pay for this feature is quite literally priceless. And if you already have a digital mixer that doesn't seem to have this ability, check the specs, because a lot of mixers have a built in USB interface, and you can record multi tracks using a computer + DAW software - eg Behringer X-Air 18, Yamaha TF series, Presonus Rack series and Behringer X32 / Midas without the X-Live card. Most modern Presonus with a full surface have multi track to SD, and any Behringer / Midas with the X-Live card installed, meanwhile the Wing comes with the W-Live card already installed. The interface to computer + DAW route is definitely more work, but if you aren't willing to do the work, then you are unlikely to achieve your full potential in life.
    The other nice bonus of doing these recordings is that you can remix them in a DAW, and sync the HQ audio with any videos you or your friends shoot at the gig, for some really spectacular results. It's a great way to learn new skills & be able to offer more services to clients.

    Most digital mixers call that virtual sound check, with some allowing recording of a minute or two for that purpose

    THANKS, simple and short done! So recording needs first to set all to "digital" and playing out to set all to analog again!!!?

      Thank you!
      To record into the SD card, the inputs have to be analogue. To playback any recording for the SD Card, the inputs have to be digital/USB. Hope that clarifies it...

    Well done with the great video, would you recommend the Gravity Stand you are using? Is it sturdy enough to use live on stage? Daniel

      Yes, absolutely. The stand I'm using is the LTS T 02 B model and can comfortably support this mixer. Would recommend! 👍

    Hey! Quick Question: I tried the „Virtual soundcheck“ if the sound comes out of my PR it works fine to adjust settings like the fader or fx. But as soon as i mute my PR and activate my headphones i just can adjust the quickchannel settings but not the fader and fx anymore. Can you help me?

      Hi, I'm not completly sure what you mean... but you may have set you headphones to 'Listen' make sure to turn off the headphone button (It turns yellow when its on) in the processing page at the top of the tracks so you can adjust the faders...

    Hi, how is this unit with electric guitar ? Can the guitar be plugged directly into the CQ without needing an amp ?

    • @crosslylucas
      @crosslylucas  3 месяца назад

      Hi, the mixer doesn't have built in amp simulators or guitar pedals... But you can connect the electric guitar directly to the mixer with a jack-to-jack cable.

      I've made a video on how to connect this mixer to a DAW (to use plugins) and amp sims for electric guitar if you're interested...

    Which SD card are you using? Do you have a list of compatible sd cards?

      Hi. I use the SanDisk 32GB Extreme SDHC card as this console has a SD limit of 32GB , A&H recommend using the SDHC formats insted of SDXC. I haven't had any issues with the SanDisk cards and the 32GB once are very cheap.

      On their "secret" mixer tech forum (not actually secret, just sparsely used), Behringer explained to me that when you use an SD slot, you must display the SD logo & follow ALL of the SD Association rules, or risk being fined or banned. SD cards over 32 GB (the limit of the FAT32 format) must use ExFAT formatting according to the SD Cartel, uh, Association, and Microsoft charges companies a king's ransom for the license to use that format (FAT32 is free to use). Doing a FAT32 format of a device over 32GB, while easily possible = insta-ban / insta-fine from the SD Cartel. I mention all this so that you understand that the 32GB limit is a paper limit, a human greed limit, not an actual technical limit.
      So you can use large SD cards with most modern devices that claim to only support 32GB, but you need to do the large device FAT32 format yourself. I recommend a free software called Rufus. Technically it's for making bootable USB installer sticks for various operating systems, but it can be used to just format any portable storage device. It's benefits over other products are 1) it can't see your hard drives, so there is no danger of making a mistake & formatting away your data. 2) it's free. 3) it's portable, just drop the exe file anywhere on your desktop & run it. 4) it looks very much like the Windows right click -> format utility, so you shouldn't have any difficulty using it.
      Personally, I either buy 32GB SanDisk Ultra microSD cards (98mbps read / 24mbps write) locally for like $5USD, or, order the Amazon Samsung co-branded microSD cards (blueish teal color) in larger capacities & FAT32 format them with Rufus. The Amazon Samsung cards are much faster than the SanDisk cards, coming in around 110mbps read & 95mbps write, and are super affordable. The micro format works just fine in the included full size SD adapter, and gives the added bonus of being usable in other devices that only take microSD such as GoPros, drones and DSLR / mirrorless cameras. Technically, any class 10 card should work, but there are a lot of Chinese knock offs that do not actually even meet that incredibly low bar, and there are many counterfeit brand name cards that perform terribly as well, so be careful where you buy.

    Hey, Tried to delete trackes stored on SD Card but it seems like iam stupid😅😂 Could you explain me how that works?

    • @crosslylucas
      @crosslylucas  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi, Theres no way to delete SD card folders/tracks from the digital mixer's interface... If you want to delete, you will have to put the SD card into a complter and do it from there...
      I'm trying to figure some things out with the SD card for a video so let me know if theres anything you'd like me to cover.
