Is it possible to record stereo to a mobile device for videos or live streams?
It's possible to live stream with the mixer, I did one a while back, it was mono. I don't think it's possible to Multitrack on a mobile device but stereo should be possible.
All your precise instructions/advices would be made in a hour video of typical RUclipsrs. There are few guys like you who know how to present stuff. Thank you!!
Which is better in live band quick setting or complete setting?
Probably complete channels because you can adjust the EQ and Compression fully.
Have you found any solution to export the tracks on Logic? Is my only DAW right now
Not yet, I'm using reaper which is a free DAW to export tracks to the digital mixer
Terrible tutorial it's just too slow
I just got this mixer. Man you guys sound good. Keep up the good work! 🎉
Wow great work Sir. I am using same mixer and shure mic sm58 to preach. Can you show me how to add presence to my preaching mic. I am using vocal preset but it doesn’t sound full Sir. Your help is appreciated 🙏
Okay the music is soo good and editing 😍 ❤
❤
Your voices go so well together 😍ive been blessed
I have one more question, if you used it to record into daw with usb-b, to hear what you had recorded you cannot set only channels like 19,20 as usb and all the channels to be routed there and for mixing to use the mixer inside the daw ?
Hi, by default, Inputs 1&2 on the mixer are for the Stereo outs of your DAW. This means that by default, your Left and Right mix from your DAW will go to Inputs 1 & 2 of the digital mixer. If your DAW allows it you can set different outputs to individual inputs on the mixer. For example: Track 1 from your DAW can be sent to input 12 on the mixer.
@@crosslylucasThanks for your answer ;-)
“I’ll beeEEEeee fine” 7:15
First, Gimme dat pinned comment😆
@@aaron-3338 you deserve it! Thanks for filming the video footage for this video!
thanks for the tutorial! I run into some issues while recording though. I tried recording a few vocals and guitar on an SD Card. The recording sounds good when I play it back on the mixer. But once I load it up in Logic the tracks are super quiet in volume and without FX (I've set the recording to Post AMM). Any idea how to fix this?
Hmm.. not sure... Have you tried recording at a different source point? Like 'Post Compressor' or 'Post EQ'?
Is it possible to use this mixer as a standalone DAW? I recorded a track on my 18t, and can play them back fine. When I arm it to record on another track, I cannot hear the previously recorded track.
Unfortunately no, the mixer cannot be used as a DAW. It cannot record and playback multi-tracks at the same time...
@@crosslylucasI know that is not the purpose of this device. But oh what a missed opportunity! Imagine how that would have exploded the target market!
Ordered mine yesterday !
Hello dear. I am about to buy one for my band, for our live performances. If i want to playback multitrack (around 8 stereo files) without using DAW, is it doable with this mixer? like i put them on an sd card or a usb card, and can i play multitrack? assign each track to faders and mix live on the fly? for example if u have 1-kick 2- rest of drums 3- bass 4- keys 5- vocals etc.... all prerecorded and on the top i want to add live instruments, and i want to mix the prerecorded tracks, for example the kick in track 1 is low, i wana use a fader to raise it, the vocal on track is is high, i wanna decrease its volume etc..... are such sorts of routings doable?
This is possible through this mixer using the SD card. I cover this at 3:43 sec. It's not the most convenient way of doing it, but it's possible. Once the tracks are on the SD card, you can mix them however you like with the live instruments. Hope that helps...
@@crosslylucas why you think its not convenient?
@@karnobmusic because the metadata (file format) has to be extremely specific... It's not impossible to do, it just takes a while.
Great video! Is there any way to create custom banks so you can put certain channels next to each other in the processor without having to rearrange your input setup?
Yes this is possible with the new update. The custom layer allows the 'Fader Page' to be re-arranged with the ability to move faders around.
Does it have direct monitoring for tracking?
Yes, the CQ18 has 2 headphone outputs for monitoring.
4:20 what kind of mics can phantom power damage? Dynamic? Because from what I’ve been told that won’t hurt dynamic mics.
Many ribbons mics are very sensitive to phantom power...
Amazing video!! Really excited for the EP 🤩
Me too! Recording this has been reaaly fun... can't wait to share it!
I keep failing in love with Allen & Heath digital mixer Sir. You doing a great job please keep it up
Thankyou so much!
Thank you for your helpful video, on SD card recording mode when you had armed all the tracks, do you had used class 10 sd card ?
Yes, I used a class 10 UHS I card. This is the SD card: SanDisk 32GB Extreme SDHC card, up to 100 MB/s UHS-I Class 10, U3, V30
I would love to know how to play files that were not recorded in the mixer into the mixer
Hi, I've covered how to do this at 03:42. it's very confusing to input the tracks into the mixer but it's definitely possible.
Sehr schön erklärt. Danke!
This is extremely helpful man, thanks for taking the time to create this resource for people 🙏🏼🙏🏼 blessings man
Amazing 🎉
Do I need to save scenes before updating the firmware buddy ?
If you've edited a scene, probably best to save it before updating. But, I updated mine after starting it and all my scenes are working on 1.2.
@@crosslylucas Thanku so much. Very much appreciated
Thanks for the update, there is an option to play an external mp3 through the mixer to insert from the computer, thanks
Great video, thank you! When I change settings in an output via CQ4you, do I need to save those in the "big app" before turning the mixer off or does it save them automatically in the scene currently used?
You have to save the output settings on the mixer's scenes page before turning the mixer off for it to be saved.
Good afternoon 🌅
Allen & Heath CQ18T how many OHM headphones can you connect?
Hi, I've been using the beyerdynamic DT 770 PROs (250 OHM) model and they work just fine.
and the voice is loud?
@@ArmanMartirosyan79 Yes. There is enough volume to get the headphones loud. Elements like the vocals are loud and clear through the headphones.
ok, thanks
Excellent video! So much great information in a short amount of time. Well produced also. Kudos!
Really helpful. Only advice on this I could find on the internet!
You saved me a lot of time. Thank you.
Great video, you might want to mention that when setting up the connection between Logic and the CQ make sure the I/O Assignments in the audio setting in Logic is set for Output 1-2.
Yes, will do! This is a very useful function in Logic.
Oh yeah, forgot what about more options on the pickoff points for the aux mixes besides just pre and post fader? Unless the pre fader option is already pre channel dynamics/compression pickup point, adding option for that seems like an essential option to have. I don't want any channel compression applies to channels (that may be helpful for the FOH mix) coming through monitor mixes like wedges or iems as will mess with singers sense of their own dynamics, risk leading to straining or developing bad vocal habits and in wedges reduce gain before feedback available. Only compression ever use for monitor mixes we be at output level on such auxes in form of peak limiter set where it would should almost never engage unless was drastic unexpected jump in level where that limiter would provide protection for hearing and or the speakers. Of course for auxes used for other things for example, front fill mix, separate live stream mix i can see where may want to be able to have post dynamics pickup point and depending on application pre or post fader may be what would be used.
Mute groups, subgroups, and dca's would be my top one of the feature requests by far but the others i can see value in as well. A few other features, i wish the CQ series had 1) Low Pass Filters on channels without losing a band of parametric eq. 2) Option to change the slope of the hipass and low pass filters 3) Blend knob on the compressors 4) Key Filter for the gates to have better control on what will open the gates. * Even better but related, adding option to set gate to a mode that would be similar to the famous 5054 primary source enhancer or waves primary source expander. Could be so useful tool to have onboard for better reducing unwanted bleed in some channels. 5) Dynamic EQ: Even if it was just a few bands that could be inserted on some channels, on subgroups, and outputs(at least main LR mix). While at it, include blend knob on it as well. Option to side chain to another input channel wouldn't be bad idea either but even just simple few bands of dynamic eq available would be such helpful tool to have available for some things in certain situations.
Just fired up my CQ-18 for the first time, and trying to follow your video, but your tip on "saving the Factory Settings in multiple places" isn't working, because my new CQ-18 doesn't have any pre-set Scenes when I go to the "Scene" tab. Any idea why? I'm using the latest firmware v1.1.1 if that helps.
In that case, I think you can just head to the scenes page and press the 'store new' and rename it 'Factory preset'
@@crosslylucas thanks for replying. But when I first start-up the mixer, there's literally no Scene to "store new". Like my -18 didn't come with any factory presets. Is that possible?
@@bobng4280 Hi, you might have to adjust a fader and then try to save it as a Factory Preset... If this doesn't work, I'm not sure what could be the problem...
Hey Lucas, do you know if we can make mute grops with the CQ18T. I'd like to mute all my monitors and main out LR with one button. Greetings!
Hi, At the moment there is no way to mute all outputs with a single button if they are pre-fader. An alternative is to see the output to post fader and set a soft key to mute the main left and right mix.
@@crosslylucas Thank you, i found another way by setting a new scene with all channels muted that i want. Then i've set a soft key for recalling this muted scene. Works perfectly👍👍 But thanks anyway!
There is new update where there is mute group in it
Thanks for the video but could you slow down, it was really hard to see what you were doing. Thanks
If I want to use the mixer as an USB Audio Interface, How many input can it capture via USB and how many outputs can it give ? Also, are the 6 1/4" mono outputs assignable or they have to be the master output ?
The mixer can record 18 Inputs, 4 outs, and 1 stereo main left and right. The 6 outputs, can send independent mixes from the main left and right.
Hey Lucas! Have a question about the monitor boxes. Where can I adjust how loud each channel is on the mix of my monitors? Like I can adjust on the smarthone app. cant find it at the mixer. Secondly I wanted to ask if i can configurate a button to mute everything (main lr + all monitors) or 1 button for all monitors grettings!
Hi, If you press the 'send to' button, you will be able to adjust the output level for the monitors. Inside the config. page you can set the outputs to 'post fader' and set a mute for the mian left and right.
Auto Feedback Correction is the worst thing ever created for live sound.
why?
@@luki_eh Well this would be a very long reply. But in short it’s lazy to use. The singer can be in the feedback zone the entire performance with the frequencies all cut out and sounding thin next to the monitors or mains with no feedback and the volume thin and reduced . Without the lazy feedback reduction the sound guy can pick out a few problem frequencies by turning the pa way up , and walking the mic around near the speakers, before the show . Then the sound is full and the vocals aren’t being thinned out in the mains if they get too close to the monitors or mains and they end up lost in the mix . Learn your frequencies like we use to. Feedback is a tool to gauge setting up a great front of house sound and can be manually reduced in 1 or 2 frequencies, and not automatically compensating and reducing 12 frequencies like the entire vocal mix. But you can’t learn it overnight and people have no patience today so the sound is awful when compared to a knowledgeable sound guy.
@@toddclarke1580 The tech is really a game changer if you are short of time to play around . With the spectrum analyzer its incredibly convenient and fast. Using the tech is much faster than old school ringing and far more precise. One can do it old school with this mixer of course but if you're mixing a festival or multiple bands its all about time. I suggest using the analyzer to find the problem frequencies and then turning off the auto ride function or adjust its sensitivity if possible. Just ordered it yesterday. Was going for the ui24 but the inability to easily acquire a large touch screen for it without having to add other outboard gear that would raise the price of admission almost half more forced me to reconsider . The A&H is a better unit all around and cheaper so .... I dont think its patience so much as convenience . I also know most that complain about the use of tech are technically illiterate and to (lazy and intellectually apathetic or challenged to grasp tech) . Its mostly laziness , as Im 64 myself and most people my age fall in those aforementioned categories . I guess its hard to teach the old dog a new trick.
Hey Lucas, Could you help me with the answers to these questions? 1) Can I use hardware compressors or other outboard gears in anyway with this. 2) Can I play a minus one track via bluetooth or USB and record the band as well at the same time with all the tracks using multi track recording feature? 3) What are the other limitations to look out for in this mixer.. and is there any other gear that replaces this at this price point
HI. 1) there's no way to send and return hardware gear from this mixer as far as I know. (Probably possible through some trickery) 2) Looking at the mix pad app, there is no way to record Bluetooth on a Multitrack session. 3) if you're looking into digital mixers at this price point, I'd suggest the Mackie DL16sor DL32 lS and presonus studio live 24 digital mixers.
@@crosslylucas Hey thanks for the reply. I just wanted to know regarding the 2nd point.. I might have to record karaoke shows on my mixer when its just singer and the backing track so I need to know if it is possible if I am playing the track through a pendrive or any online platform and both my track as well as the singer singing should be recorded as a stereo mix maybe into an sd card. So is that possible?
One way you could do this is by sending the Bluetooth audio to OUTPUT 1 and then recording OUTPUT 1 as a Multitrack. This can be configured through the output page > USB/SD settings.
Just realised the audio doesn't work for most of the stream... :( I forgot to turn up inputs 3&4 on the mixer, so that's why you can't hear what I was hearing...
Crossly - very interesting! What about going the other way - sending say 3 channels of audio from Logic to the CQ18-T for playback. Can those be set to mono channels above channel 18? And then, are those channels available to be routed to the different aux outs like any other channel of audio would be?
Yes I think this is possible. I tried doing this on a live stream, but messed up the routing and couldn't get any sound. Will try again and let you know!
THANKS, simple and short done! So recording needs first to set all to "digital" and playing out to set all to analog again!!!?
Thank you! To record into the SD card, the inputs have to be analogue. To playback any recording for the SD Card, the inputs have to be digital/USB. Hope that clarifies it...

Hi thank you for sharing this really helpful. Can you share what cord/ wire called the one from your cq18 to your phone. I tried to find but I can’t. Thanks again
