  • In this video, I'll review the design and features of the CQ4You App by Allen & Heath. This app is compatible with the CQ series mixers and is available for Android and iOS... I've also summarised my suggestions for future updates and improvements to my workflow this app has made!

I have the CQ 20 B and love. Been using Xair 18 for years. I do sound for a few groups and they really like the CQ4You app and simplicity.
Great video, not much out there on this topic.
Only issue I have is FX on VOX in CQ 4 you, I have not tried yet, but I think when you assign channels on the main mixer app you select post fader for the aux outs. This may fix the vox fx ....

Thanks for the view, very informative.I'm about to buy this mixer, but I've been looking for some answers without luck. Maybe you can help me out, please!
    1. Can a performer mess with the main mix by
    2. Can the main mix be locked for some or all performers?
    3. If I mute or solo a channel on the main mix, will that channel be muted or soloed on the performers mix end?
    4. Do I have access to edit the performer's mixes and groups live?
5 Can a performer get a mirror from the main mix without control it?
    Thanks!

      Hi... Thanks for your comment.
      1. A performer CANNOT mess with the main mix through the CQ4You app.
      2. The main mix cannot be locked. The 'Lock mix button' makes it so a performer cannot switch outputs. This lock feature works on per app basis.
      3. If you mute or solo channel in the main L&R it will NOT be muted or soloed on the performer's mix.
      4. Yes, You can adjust the performer's mix through the send button on the mixer. The mixer and the app can be used at the same time.
      5. No, the performer does not get a mirror LR mix.
      Hope that cleared things up.

Would really love the ability to adjust EQ on an input by input basis in the app (i.e. if my piano has too much bass but my vocals need more bass in my iem's).
If I push the bass in the aux out it does it for everything
Wish I could EQ each item as it's own send

@@tronious I know what you mean...I was in a recent situation where the I wish I could compress the vocal track on my iem as the vocalist kept on moving back and forth while recording. I think one potential solution is to configure the outputs to post fader which will allow for the FOH to adjust the EQ and Comp settings on each track and send it to the outputs.
It's somewhat frustrating but I think having these controls built in might overcomlicat the app as well... but it would a cool feature.

If you turn your screen off or your phone goes to sleep, does the app “disconnect”? Do you have to hit “connect” again for further changes? That is what is happening to us with our iPhones.

Yes, just tried it now. After I turned my phone off, I had to connect back to the CQ WiFi.

    Great video, thank you!
When I change settings in an output via CQ4you, do I need to save those in the "big app" before turning the mixer off or does it save them automatically in the scene currently used?

You have to save the output settings on the mixer's scenes page before turning the mixer off for it to be saved.

Where did you find the new firmware update.?

The app updates automatically through the app or play store... if you want to know what version you are on, click the 'send to' button and its below the back button.

    What IEM do you recommend?

Ah... tough question, It depends... I'd suggest starting with a wired IEM system; just a long cable and some earphones (any cheap earphones will do). This is so you get a feel for the isolation that the earphones provide... you'll either like it or you won't. It's important that you feel comfortable with the IEM system you're using so you might have to experiment a bit. Hope that helps.

Unless you're David Lee Roth, wired iem are great. Behringer P2 is a great unit paired with KZ ZS 10PRO headphones.
