I see, hope we have that feature, but if not, at least we got to try out the size 6 guns which we never got a chance to see. Need to test the rest of them before this goes away
11:29 "out of capacitors" - you can assign each gun to separate group and fire them in turns. While one gun is shooting other is recharging. This way you can avoid pauses between firing and keep constant pressure on opponents shield.
You can equip them in the current PTU. That doesn't mean its going to stay. You know what "bespoke" means? CIG made a mistake to put the Polaris in the PTU which changing the front turret guns enabled for swapping out. Thats gonna bite them when they remove it from the Polaris before live.
At the moment the Ships have an HP pool however that will disappear once Engineering is introduced. Ballistic weapons will be able to penetrate up to certain armor values (think tarkov with bullets v armor) each ship will have its own armor value and certain size guns will be able to penetrate certain armor values otherwise you will need to strip away the armor/Hull using energy weapons to allow your rounds with less firepower to go through the hull because you are attempting to use the ballistics to shoot at the components in the ship to damage them and disable the ship. So due to this the Bespoke slower fire rate might be more beneficial since you have time to lead your shots and see where they are landing.
If you think for a moment that control surfaces or armor or relying on component damage will change the overall problems with combat geometry and single-seater dominance, you are fooling yourself. If anything, high-velocity weapons will dominate even more since they will have the effective range and precision to deal component damage, and fighters will have an even greater ability to apply that damage and avoid critical damage themselves. At best, these things will simply make the combat more of a slog and even less engaging and rewarding.

CIG claims they increased the penetration for the Bespoke when they lowered the fire rate. I would be curious if you could find a good way to test that.
I know that they want it to be bespoke, but why? Seems like a waste to develop a whole new weapon and restrict it. Also a shame to seemingly arbitrarily limit the weapon options on the ship.
I wonder if the PDU can be easily popped by a smaller ballistic loaded ship like an arrow. That would promote team gameplay wile also letting you conserve your torps. 12torps to 1kill seems like a lot.
im not sure if you mentioned it in the video, sorry if you did, but power allocation on weapons will allow a greater capacity on the turrets, perhaps the power settings on erkul were different to what you had set up in the MFD's?
The maximum capacitor is not wrong on erkul. But to achieve the full possible ammo count you need to mix between ballistic and energy weapons. The main weapon will be the torps. The turrets are it's secondaries, so they can be a bit neglected. I would go for the 3 big turrets with ballistic, and the rest with attrition. The chin size 6.. deadbolt or the standard. As both have the highest potential DMG output. You have to choose between rate of fire and bullet speed. For the s4: revenants or deadbolt. Short time high DMG vs longer gun play time. Ofc, all of that is only relevant if you can man the full ship. But then again - is there a reason to bring this ship out under crewed?
Btw you can load Extra Torpedos in the cargo bay and reload size 10 Torpedos after they run out manually increasing the amount of time you can stay out without going back to rearm. It’s incredibly satisfying manually reloading them 😅
Did CIG ever fix that Attrition bug? I wanted to outfit most of my fleet with them (due to their DPS) but they won't even shoot. I heard they were working on it...
To clear things up, using the accepted definition of bespoke: Bespoke weapons that are 'custom made' for the Polaris means those are not available to purchase or intended for other ships. The meaning of bespoke has ZERO to do with the ability to change them. I was issued a bespoke a drysuit, made for my exact measurements. However, I can wear other drysuits that are not tailor made for me. If CIG means something other than that, they are using the word incorrectly (very likely the case given that it is CIG).
Context matters; and the weapons are 'bespoke' in that they are not intended to be swapped out. The Ares large S7 guns are 'bespoke' they aren't swappable. So when CIG says something is 'bespoke'; it means it can't be swapped out/taken off. For a ship designed AROUND it's weapon, I can understand; but those 'bespoke' weapons should always be better than none-bespoke weapons then; or have special functionality. To have 'bespoke' turret weapons that are worse than all the others, especially when they are ballistic and can't be reloaded unless you land to rearm/repair/refuel; for a ship designed for long-range patrols/engagements in enemy territory(they even say lore-wise the Polaris is meant to be the 'tip of the spear'); it's kind of a slap in the face right now. Granted, in the future; I'm sure they'll make it easier to reload ballistic weapons from inside the ship; who knows, even a little loading bin that we pop ammo boxes directly into from the cargo area; since we could load up extra torps from the cargo area as the intended way to have extra torps. It's all iterative and ongoing development; so hopefully they flesh all this out better.
@@ShevaiAsan they are bespoke guns that are chassis specific or chassis locked. As with the Ares series. Words matter. I agree that if they are to be chassis bound, they must offer superior performance.
@@ShevaiAsan Bespoke weapons means the weapons are not interchangeable to other ships due to it being custom made for one specific ship, BUT you should be able to take the weapon off and replace it with a ordinary weapon. They didn't say "Bespoke Weapon Mount", which would mean that the actual mount of the weapon is bespoke and no other weapon will fit on it besides a weapon specifically made for that specific mount. Just like some electronics (used) to have their own unique screws, which needed specialised screwdrivers to unscrew, a normal phillips-head wouldn't fit. So CIG saying "Bespoke weapons" should mean that the weapon itself is made just for the Polaris, and should be (vastly) superior to any other "generic" weapon. The mount itself is not "bespoke", as we can already see in this video, any other S6 weapon fits on it, so they are actually using the exact same S6 mount, instead of a "S6B" (B for bespoke) mount for example....
the only available ship to have s6 guns, and theyre not meant to be swapped(bespoke, locked), s6 have only been in since... whenever the shops listed them
I'm afraid this is an oversight that is going to be fixed. Bespoke weapons are not meant to be swappable. They apparently made the weapons bespoke so that they can nerf Polaris DPS by via this weapon. So if you could bypass the nerf, it wouldn't be a nerf. Come to think of it, they might have even unlocked it on purpose to have this initial P2W phase before they nerf this for real.
You're not supposed to be able to swap the s6 weapons but don't worry CIG will focus on patching this while leaving the turrets having no pips and the bug which makes you unable to retrieve the polaris in any station that isn't grim hex or one of the cities (you know, the ship clipping into the station at the docking port after being retrieved, yeah that one that's been in the game for a very long time already) LOL. Any normal developper would see this bug and think "oh this is an interesting idea, our players love it, let's expand on it/leave it for people to enjoy" but I bet you my Polaris this isn't happening
At the time the video is made, we can replace them. but today CIG changed that and locked down the gun so we cannot change them anymore. I have put a pinned message the moment this change happened under the description of this video
@@cpt_foxyloxyI'm sad to hear that, thanks for the reply. Is it possible to change other guns in turrets at Polaris? Or have they blocked the changes for all guns?
They already said this will be parched and is not intended, bespoke weapons is a simple way to nerf ships without really look like a nerf, "sorry, is bespoke"
but why nerv something that makes no sense let ppl switch weapons on turrets/ships i would understand if u can reload the ballistics with intern reloadmechanism but atm ? no
@@Fantastiie Why indeed. An excellent question without a good answer. People who enjoy the Ion would love an answer, too, and would vastly just prefer an M9A over the hot f***ing garbage that is the SF7E
I mean that's the point of sub and capital ships. These things take a large number of crew to properly operate meaning a small to mid-sized guild would pretty much operate out of them. A Polaris is effectively a mobile milita outpost or a mercenary HQ/Base in motion. The BMM, Idris, Javelin, and Bengel are going to be similar size or bigger.
Not entirely true, in this very video you can see them actually working, however I do agree that it was in conditions that would never actually happen in a real scenario (ie the ship is standing still)
1) It isn't proper to this mounting since the Polaris anti-capital turret is supposed to be bespoke and not able to swap its guns, 2) the Attritions are balanced for a low-velocity high-dps laser repeater, and exactly follows the scaling progression of every other Attrition repeater. It's the laser cannons that have all been nerfed into the dirt for no reason other than that CIG is scared of high alpha. I suppose they could nerf laser repeaters and ballistics, too, so everything would be in balance at a lower level, but that would likely rile up everyone. 3) CIG still fundamentally misunderstand combat geometry and damage metrics - putting a thick shield in front that can't recharge under fire is only going to extend the engagement time a little, and the amount of total damage a _capital_ ship should be soaking needs to be way higher, for all of them, including the reclaimer and 890 and carrack.
yes he is, but on the other hand bullet velocity on a size 6 weapon doesn't really matter or at least not as much as with a smaller gun as you're probably not aiming this gun at an aurora but rather at a large ship
5:21 with laser canons, range comes first. Then alpha damage. Not dps. Why? Because you need to overcome large ship armour. Using cannons to fire faster is idiotic. Use a repeater for this. Also, ballistic hit hard, but lack sustained combat presence. Unless you can reload while in combat, ballistics are just for ambush and raiding.
There is so many videos of Polaris hype that I find the polaris boring. The ship is awesome for multicrew.. but there are no missions or purpose for capital ships at the moment. I know that they want it to be bespoke, but why? Seems like a waste to develop a whole new weapon and restrict it. Also a shame to seemingly arbitrarily limit the weapon options on the ship.
Maybe its only the very dumb Name of the weapons. Real bespoke weapons Like the Laser from the storm are not changeable. I hope it is so
This is what I've been saying, I really hope we keep the options open...
Move over A2, there's a new "friendly" ship at JT soon 😁
Thanks for the detailed explanations
Btw you can load Extra Torpedos in the cargo bay and reload size 10 Torpedos after they run out manually increasing the amount of time you can stay out without going back to rearm. It’s incredibly satisfying manually reloading them 😅
They are not sold anywhere though.
@ very soon. I expect after or during IAE
Thanks for the info
this gives me hope for the perseus with its size 7 weapons
Did CIG ever fix that Attrition bug? I wanted to outfit most of my fleet with them (due to their DPS) but they won't even shoot. I heard they were working on it...
next patch is fixed
Hy, im trying to change the size 6 weapons but cannot, even in inventory or fisical. Any idea?
Aren't the ballistics better at actually killing big ships? I'd like to see the practical test for them.
Video for the bin. Bespoke and S6 hardpoints have been reworked in latest patch.
Twin AD6B's! Dear god that's epic
Would be nice to see the Ballistic Cannons in this Comparison Too
the only available ship to have s6 guns, and theyre not meant to be swapped(bespoke, locked), s6 have only been in since... whenever the shops listed them
I'm afraid this is an oversight that is going to be fixed. Bespoke weapons are not meant to be swappable. They apparently made the weapons bespoke so that they can nerf Polaris DPS by via this weapon. So if you could bypass the nerf, it wouldn't be a nerf. Come to think of it, they might have even unlocked it on purpose to have this initial P2W phase before they nerf this for real.
they REALLY need to keep the option to change weapons. Nobody wants this bespoke bullshit, taking the choice away from the player is such a bad move.
We had the same issue in out org.
You have to unlock the ports from the pilot and co-pilot seat! 7:43
A2 dies fast to ballistics because it (and the Pisces for some reason) doesn't have the ~50% defense buff against physical attacks.
so for clarification can you or can u not change em today now 12/3 of the year 2024?
Nice topic
How could you change weapons? I can't do that in the PTU
Nice !
Well said
"Breathes in Perseus"... Seriously though if two size 6 weapons do this much damage, the Perseus is gonna kick ass with its four size 7's.
2 size 7s
and you can call point defense just : aps cause work like it its just simplier
Hey, Foxy ,What are the pilot control weapons on the Polaris? good vid!!
S5 missiles I think, no weapons
16 Size3 Arresters missiles
thanks
how do i chenge the guns i cant find how to do this
If we have enough Polaris together, they can create a pseudo space station 🎉 😮
My English is not very good, please tell me so can I replace the size 6 guns on Polaris or not? If not, how did the author of the video replace them?
At the time the video is made, we can replace them. but today CIG changed that and locked down the gun so we cannot change them anymore. I have put a pinned message the moment this change happened under the description of this video
@@cpt_foxyloxyI'm sad to hear that, thanks for the reply. Is it possible to change other guns in turrets at Polaris? Or have they blocked the changes for all guns?
What about the ATLS? to detatch ?
some viewer said if you unlock the ship port from the co-pilot seat, you can detach them, haven't tried yet
pls can u do fitting ships video for the polaris :)
its keeping me up at night
why does cig hate balistic weapons?
Has anyone noticed the range of the torpedo turret HUD? It's in freaking light years :D
Man pls try the rattler Cluster missles on that point defense
That is an awesome idea.
@cpt_foxyloxy maybe this will confuse the point defense and ignores the torpedos
How could he set his camera to the missle?
ruclips.net/video/XNjUX4scsiE/видео.html
This video will show you how
CIG, up the bespoke weapon of Polaris. The deadbolt S5 is better...
These things are literally flyable guild halls
I mean that's the point of sub and capital ships. These things take a large number of crew to properly operate meaning a small to mid-sized guild would pretty much operate out of them.
A Polaris is effectively a mobile milita outpost or a mercenary HQ/Base in motion. The BMM, Idris, Javelin, and Bengel are going to be similar size or bigger.
@ Once ships persist reliably and spawning is up to snuff as well the possibilities are endless
i think they anounced this was a bug and would be fixed before release.
I know, and it sucks. Bespoke stuff reeks of hero shooter mentality.
Best bug I think and one bug they should never fix.
test with the omnisky they are cracked , with size 5 omnisky he downed the capital shields of the Idris in less than 20s

@cpt_foxyloxy wow no wonder the ptu runs this smoothly for you...thx !
But what do they sell for?! 🤔
should be able to put missles on it for MORE MISSLES
i hope the bespoke cannons on the Perseus arnt this disappointing...
The dmg from a size 10 torpedo never hit a target ^^. PDS make the wpn system torpedo worthless. :P
Not entirely true, in this very video you can see them actually working, however I do agree that it was in conditions that would never actually happen in a real scenario (ie the ship is standing still)
I bet the attrition S6 has never been balanced because it wasn't used. And thanks to this video it will be nerfed. 😢
Wait wait the Ballistic gatling has a range of 3600??? omgerd
you;re making huge mistake. You looking solely at dmg numbers, and not taking into consideration the most important stat which is bullet velocity.
yes he is, but on the other hand bullet velocity on a size 6 weapon doesn't really matter or at least not as much as with a smaller gun as you're probably not aiming this gun at an aurora but rather at a large ship
Bespoke only has one E
5:21 with laser canons, range comes first. Then alpha damage. Not dps. Why? Because you need to overcome large ship armour. Using cannons to fire faster is idiotic. Use a repeater for this. Also, ballistic hit hard, but lack sustained combat presence. Unless you can reload while in combat, ballistics are just for ambush and raiding.
There is so many videos of Polaris hype that I find the polaris boring. The ship is awesome for multicrew.. but there are no missions or purpose for capital ships at the moment. Maybe the Save stanton missions that will come with the most FPS shitty build ever. I am not looking forward for the next patch or the 4.0 patch. I have a naging feeling both patches will be a unplayable dissaster from day one in Live PU. I ham hoping to be proven wrong...I realy do.
fake news. have you ever done XT? last time there was XT we definitely could have used polaris'. it's like several hammerheads surrounded by connies, medium, and light fighters and of course an idris
@@mndeg Fake News? what fake news? Yes I have tried Xeno Threat. Have you? XenoThreat was extremely broken last time and the time before. So I would not call that a viable gameplay to use the Polaris or any other Capital ship. But if CIG actually have gotten such events on a stable and bug free build. Then Yes it would be epic.
Say polaris one more time
Polaris crashes on Arcorp... a couple thousand people die. No biggie... LOL
lol
