What's great about the gym is if you can forget about people "watching" you (they're not), it's a really great place to spend time focusing on yourself and building that confidence that you are lacking if you are worried about people looking at you. Look at your own body and recognize the positive changes you see. It's like magic, you put in enough real effort and you WILL see results!! 😂 I wish I could encourage more people to go but then the gym would be so crowded I wouldn't even enjoy myself. 😉

I feel you about the loss of muscle mass that may occur. But it's up to the individual to change their habits while on the medication. Progressive resistance exercise and a high protein diet, in addition to unprocessed fruits and vegetables will prevent a loss of lean muscle mass and strengthen bones. It will also increase metabolism, which is what is necessary to prevent weight gain. People going on these drugs ought to be taught these things, not just given the drugs. The other thing is, I do believe that some obesity is related to conditions such as PCOS, Type 2 Diabetes, ( of course,) thyroid issues, hormone issues, etc. I wouldn't treat all obesity the same and say just "eat right, and exercise." When a woman's hormones begin to change during menopause, you can eat celery and lettuce all day long, run 5 miles, intermittently fast, etc.etc and you might not lose an ounce. There have to be alternatives to this, and there are; many other than GLP-1 medications. This is a fad that people have jumped on. I wouldn't take something that is meant to treat Diabetes, but many people will. Only time will tell regarding the long-term outcomes. In the meantime, I'm not going to shame anyone for trying something that may help them become more healthy. I did enjoy the facts you presented in your video though. I also liked your solutions regarding what the government can do to help improve the American diet.

It's easy for skinny guys like myself and this guy ^ to say that people just need to change their diets and go to the gym. I have and do train almost every day. But I only had 30-40# to lose. People with 60-100# or are in a much different battle. A battle for their lives. I do agree that greater changes to our food system needs to happen. But understanding of the difficulty involved in losing weight and that they may need medical help without ridicule is important.

  • @realityandnaturepill
    @realityandnaturepill 6 месяцев назад +3

You statement that there is no way for a pharmaceutical company to make profit from your simple morning tea routine is profound.
Yet the very same applies to information; animals don't pay dietitians or subscribe to fitness channels online yet they only grow to a dysfunctional size when they deliebrately did so such as bears before winter and the only animals that have the diseases of mankind on a regular basis...are the pets we feed.
This alone should tell you that obesity and diabetes are markers of bad health that can be observed over entire cultures or populations. When you treat it as a cause rather than effect you end up with an 80-90% failure rate and a high prevalence of disease among lean adults...accurate for western nations.
The same applies to physical training; the "experts" confuse stimulus and result, cause and effect. The amount of times "progressive overload" is mentioned as the cause of adaptations...while the only reason you were able to progressively overload is because of hypertrophy or neuromuscular adaptations that happened before. It is not the cause or a training principle, it is the effect of past training and the recovery after!
Thus individuals are confused as to why they are no longer progressing; because "the experts" simply state to progressively overload (the message reads: to get stronger you have to get stronger...brilliant). The causes can nearly always be found in between the training sessions: bad sleep, bad diet, fatigue, dehydration, stress, a negative life event...
Obesity is very similar: Most of the advice narrows down to "to lose weight you have to lose weight", then a smaller percentage oversimplifies it into "diet and exercise"...and the overused "lower calories".
Notice how all of these are effects, not causes and how none of these are of any help?
The cause is not an increase in activities which you are able to recover from while simalteniously feeding your body with far less calories...that is an effect!
The causes are hormonal balance, sufficient nutrition that's meant for humans, sleep quality and overall health.
Imagine believing that humans require willpower to be at a natural weight and that obesity is a cause; if that's the case then everyone must have had far more willpower in the 50's and 60's...

Yeah - but it's not a scam is it - it wasn't produced for "weight loss" it was produced as a vital and important medication to keep people alive in the area it was meant to be used in - and in that area, it has done exactly that. It even was to be used in association with diet and exercise for Type 2 Diabetics to help control glucose levels.
If people took it out of it's market and flogged it as a wonder drug for something it wasn't tested and trialed for - that's not the fault of the drug - and it's not the drug, or the drug makers at fault - but the idiots who miss the importance of moderation in intake, use of proper food over ultra-processed foods and those who don't exercise.

The mistake you make in this video is misunderstanding what Dr Apovian is stating. She is saying that Obesity is misconstrued that it is under voluntary control; that it is a derangement in the pathways that regulate energy balance. This is actually correct. What she is not saying is that "it's not your fault". The pathways that regulate energy balance (metabolism) are directly controlled by the types, timing and mechanism of food consumption. Food is far more complex than calories in / calories out. Some foods (such as ultra processed foods) will trigger malfunction in metabolic pathways in some patients and these malfunctions lead to obesity and ultimately to disease. So she is correct, but so are you. Eating is very complex interplay between nutrient availability, psychology, metabolic pathways and biochemistry. We often try to simplify it and fail miserably. Many of my patients (I'm a practicing Cardiologist) can reverse Obesity and diabetes by making careful, sensible, food choices (eating natural foods, avoiding processed foods), and making an exercising. But there is a genetic component to it as well, the influence of genes cannot be diminished. There is also the issue that altering metabolism alters your brain derived hormones that control your behavior. A diabetic patient with severe hyperinsulinemia is always hungry due to massive levels of ghrelin and insulin. No matter how much I advise, its much harder for someone like that to control their apetite the way someone who doesn't have those issues can. It's important to note that the topic is much more complex than a RUclips video. However, yes, Ozempic is not the answer.

How about high blood pressure? Am I I okay taking a drug for life that saves my kidneys?
Or am I okay taking a drug that saves my life by preventing a handful of devastating diseases?
You bet I am willing to take it for life.

Type 1 is completely different from type 2. Type 1 is when your Pancreas stop producing insulin, type is when you develop a resistance to insulin

I’m a Wegovy success story. Over the course of 7 months I lost 70 pounds. Like many others the side effects were few and temporary.
After watching the video, it’s pretty clear that the creators body type is one of a thin/fit person. That’s all well and good, but unfortunately that’s just not the case for many of us. Aaron, I’m happy that you don’t have any issues with metabolic syndrome, it’s rough, I know too well.
The point you seem to miss is that GLP-1 agonists work on your brain. The peptide signals that you are full, but no only that GLP-1s give the user impulse control. Having impulse control gives you the ability to walk away from food. It also gives you impulse control around overeating it helps control addictive behaviors.
Back to my story. Yes losing 70 pounds in a short period of time did cause me to lose muscle, but I began resistance training when I hit my weight loss goal. I’m up 20 pounds of muscle since my Wegovy experience. I’m thrilled with the results. Also my insurance covers 100% of the cost.
Ozempic and Wegovy are game changers!!!! By far the best thing I’ve ever experienced for my health.
    Definitely not a scam.

@@amylee9 Here’s a question for you, if you were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes would you be okay with using insulin for the rest of your life? That’s the choice I was facing. If I didn’t get my weight under control, I would have ended up on insulin.
So the answer to your question is yes. I’ll take being healthy and injecting Wegovy over being sick and overweight and injecting insulin.

I lost 148 lb. losing about 12 lb a year I didn't want to end up with sagging skin and I've also been really consistent. The likelihood of me regaining the weight now after I worked on some habits and the fact that I kept the first 12 for all these years. I don't allow myself to gain more than 5 lb. I can honestly say that if I didn't lose the weight I'd be dead right now. But every year was a little bit better my body has both protected me and supported me through this hard journey. I have a compulsive eating disorder and I've had a deal with it with every bite but after a while I have made some permanent choices and I'm still working on it just like an alcoholic I'll probably have this hanging over me the rest of my life but never want to get big again

Every gram of carbohydrate consumed holds 4 grams of water.
Remove carbs & lbs of water weight (inflamation) is urinated away.
Important during this phase to add sodium & potassium to your water as electrolytes are pee'd away.
That leaves the excess fat, which is burned off by intermittent fasting followed by eating fatty meat & eggs until full.
    Simply repeat, fast then feast.
Dr Jsson Fung goes into full detail on the how & why of fasting
Dr Ken Berry does the same for the low to zero carb lifestyle.
I've made the switch myself, which only takes a few weeks to ease into it & the results are fast, safe & long term.
    Good luck & God bless.
